Splinter Cell Remake

All the Splinter Cell games were good. I have two installed that I never got around to starting really. Conviction and Blacklist

This is really cool news. I just hope they don't screw it up. I really enjoyed the first 3 or so games, but the next three got progressively worse, IMO.

A remake of the original would be great. I never played that, so a remake with slight enhancements to make it more streamlined would be good. Chaos Theory would only need minor tweaks for gameplay, so if it plays like that great. Shows though that outside of a remake they have zero desire to make a new version of Splinter Cell or even a similar game.

Looking forward to this. Never played and would like to. Only issue is Ubisoft, as op said hopefully they don't screw it up.

Can respect that, but the original trilogy does still play great in my opinion.
lots of technical issues including totally missing lighting effects in the first two (some of which are gameplay critical.) chaos theory is mostly ok though. i don't recommend playing the pc ports at all. if you have access to an xbox one (or newer) then the OG xbox versions are by far the best way to go. you even get 4k on one x/series consoles.

also a lot of people don't know this, but the OG xbox version of double agent was a totally different game from the 360 version/pc port and usually considered to be much better because it's basically running on chaos theory's engine. the only way to play that is on an xbox console.

You can run the first two games using Glide to fix the lighting issues. There are patches that give Hor+ widescreen and 4K resolution, in addition to patches to add the higher res textures and cutscenes from the console versions.

you can get them 90% there, but it's still so much nicer playing the Xbox versions. obviously i get that not everyone has an Xbox though.

My expectations are very, very low for this.
But it's from (current day, not FC2/PoP: SoT) Ubisoft!! And it's for "an all-new audience"! At least they didn't say "modern", I guess.

It would be sweet if this was a passion project to modernize and update such a great older title, but it could just as easily be a lazy, overpriced cash grab.

If it turns out to be another Kingpin: Reloaded (to be fair, I'd expect a higher level of quality than that from Ubisoft), good news is the original still plays great and like Armenius pointed out a few years ago, is still available for just $2.49 on sale.

Considering how much the original splinter cell hyped up shadows, I was always surprised Nvidia didn't turn a remake into a RTX only flagship

I would love to see this, but knowing Ubisoft it will have like 6 different editions, starting at $69.99, and a bunch of DLC and microtransaction crap no one asked for.

I'm just worried if they can do level based games that have multiple approaches in them. I never played the first two games but Chaos Theory is brilliant. Yes there are some silly video game tropes like shooting out lights, but there were still many approaches and the stealth was more advanced that crouching in grass. There is natural discovery, like listening to conversations to find approaches or information and whatnot. Most Ubisoft games are bland, empty worlds. There might be a few landmarks but typically they are populated by very basic quests. I feel like if Ubisoft tries to do something else it will end up being Call of Duty linear, or still end up as some open world mess.

This and Code V are the only remakes i am interested in.. Wish they would show something !

Knowing Ubisoft Samantha Fisher (a non-binary obese agent undergoing gender transition) will be tasked with hunting down bigots who use the wrong pronouns, fat shame US citizens and refused to be vaccinated during the pandemic.

Someone dropped a fan-made patch for the original SC while we wait on the remake that's supposedly coming.

Enhanced SC - A new major patch for Splinter Cell 1. It adds controller support to PC, restores graphical enhancements from the Xbox port, and fixes some old bugs/balancing issues. It also restores cut content, and adds new customization options, like No-HUD, changing Sam's suit, and much more!

While We All Wait For The Splinter Cell Remake, One Fan Took It Upon Themselves To Enhance The Original
