4 out of 11 guys in our office that bought one have dead or about to die or returned PS4's.
This is the most boring console launch ever. no one is overjoyed with it. It's average and does not seem next gen at all. X1 will be no different.

Honestly, the [H] would never stoop to calling ANY of our readers (certainly not people that paid $399 for a DOA product) retards or make fun of them for getting a DOA product. These people did nothing wrong and all got DOA consoles. How is it their fault? They are just like you, fans of the console and now they are getting shit on by fellow PS4 fans.

Seriously, watching the fanboys defend the Sony and the PS4 (and the "acceptable" failure rate) at the expense of tons of their fellow [H]'ers that have dead consoles is pathetic and turns my stomach.

What qualifies as tons?

Also a new generation of consoles and horrible stories as of late (both platforms) should be reason enough to bring back [H] Consoles. The recent Gamestop comparison had all sorts of things wrong with everything (Wii U, PS4 and One) for example.

I never generalized that the people who got DoA were retards, that is part of the jumping to conclusions.

The guy who pulled the cable and then fucked with the hdd is a retard, and i will keep saying it.

Seems to me at least to look more 'next gen' than the last launch, ps3/360. Games barely looked better than ps2 games and I remember for quite a long time thinking I can't believe this is next gen, looks like shit. But out of the gate theres a bigger difference between ps3/ps4 games graphically than ps2/ps3. So in that sense it's next gen I guess.

That is the nature and danger of irrational fanboyism. The Sony Defense Force is especially well versed in these tactics. We really just have to wait and see when it comes to how widespread this is. It could just be isolated to a specific batch.

Well, to be honest, the Sony Defense Force is actually to the same 11 people here. You'd never know it by the way they talk but, in reality, it is the same dozen people over and over and over and over in every PS4 thread there is.

We actually take bets to see which one will show up first in these threads. :D


The good news, we only have console launches every 7 - 10 years.
 
I got mine in yesterday and I powered it on, updated it, and downloaded Resogun. So far no issues but I am extremely pissed that there is no DLNA out of the box so my 7.3Tb of Movies, TV and music is useless to this box. I may not even keep it honestly, I want a system centered around gaming with modern day format support like mkv and mt2s.

I can dream can't I?
 
Mine seems to be working.. so far (Sept '13 Yantai from Amazon w/1.50). Honestly feel bad for everyone that received theirs DOA.

Only major issue I'm getting is the continuous CE-34878-0 crashes and game save corruption on Battlefield 4.. pretty much unplayable for now. Contrast & Resogun from PS+ still working properly, and tonight I'm gonna test out Killzone.

Definitely a little concerned about the longevity of the system. Gonna play the shit out of it, so hopefully if something breaks, it'll happen within Amazon's extended return period ;)

Speaking of the Sony Defense Force where did the Amazon failure rate thread go? Just wondering because you said your PS4 was fine and had been fine for 9 days in there and voted DOA in the thread I started.

Was that a review model and your personal one arrived DOA?

Amazon Failure rate thread ended up hijacked by five people so it is in the soapbox forum. Instead of closing it, we kept it open so the SDF can continue to complain and post "steve sucks" posts. :D

The [H] does not review consoles. Any PS4s / Xbox Ones we have are for personal use only. Not sure why you are worried about any consoles we have and which ones are DOA and why. If I decide to write an article on the RMA process for a DOA Amazon PS4 my son ordered, I'll put out a memo to the SDF so they can call him names / retard / etc. for getting a borked console.

You're really coming off as unstable in these console threads. Seems like you're snapping left and right. Relax. Maybe I'm just getting the wrong vibe, but man, you just come off bad.

Maybe it's time to stop posting about the consoles? You're just baiting everyone.
 
If you've been playing games for more than 10 years, you know that when you buy early, you're beta testing. I want to say Pacific Strike was so bad that Origin eventually pulled the title, rather than fix it (but never refunded any money). Wait a few months...get a few updates and/or h/w revisions in. You'll be better off...and you'll probably save money too.
