Sleeping Dogs

I pre-ordered it a while ago... I think middle of July. Can't wait for it to come out so it can go straight into the queue of other games I don't have time for :D

You can preorder the game for $40 at GMG with code PCGMR-GREEN-SUMMR. It's steamable, but I bet you don't get all the neat hats you'd normally get by preordering directly from steam.

I don't consider this game a AAA title as it doesn't have the track record or franchise like other established games like Assassin's Creed, Max Payne or even CoD...

I don't know about you but I think Square Enix has a good enough track record to consider this a AAA title. After getting to play for a few hours I can assure you it's worth $45. It is far better than any $60 game I have played in a long time.

I'm curious how long the game is...that will also determine it's value

Based on what my friend and I have played through I can see it being a 20+ hour game if you do all the side stuff. You get missions from npc's on the street, there's underground racing, fight club stuff, shutting down drug dealers, taking girls on dates plus all the main missions. There also a ton of stuff to find that boosts your max health and unlocks new combat moves.

You've stoked me big time with your posts about this game. :)

Has Sleeper Hit of the Year potential.

No one was even talking about this game until about a week ago.

Early reviews say the main mission is short at 10-14 hours. There's other stuff to do as has already been outlined in this thread, though. Lots of 9+ scores so far from the console mags and random review sites when I google "sleeping dogs review." But never know how credible those are.

It's going to be a good game. I think we can sign off on that.

Alrighty, pre-ordered. Might record some gameplay

edit: Seems lame that the game doesn't unlock until noon on Tuesday for me instead of just a midnight release

Someone on another forum described it as Bully: Hong Kong.

The melee combat system, driving, and shooting look better than Saints Row 3. Hopefully it'll be as fun to play.

It'll probably look and feel different than SR3 but pretty damned fun in its own right.

Guys,.. I have to wait 2 days for release here in the UK, and well I'm impatient, as a huge favour, could someone add me on steam: bustahh

I can gift you a game of the same value, and you could gift me sleeping dogs? I don't have paypal otherwise I'd paypal you the money

How is the game on PC? I'm on fence about this game for PC.

Can you get off the fence, you'll break it. I'm not paying for this shit to be fixed anymore.

On topic, I'd like to know too! C'mon Q, TELL US.

Well done for a console port.DX11 and above average graphics.HD texture pack on day 1(hey Carmak  ).Gameplay fun and varied missions..Combat similar to Batman AA,AC..Story so far so good..Worth playing IMHO..

Don't forget the free high rez texture pack already on the store page. Just hit the store page, you'll see it listed, individually hit it, trigger it, and let 'er rip.

Later this morning hopefully but I'm expecting bad assery.

You're taking too long.

Destructoid gave the PC version the thumbs up....9/10.

Though I only played the E3 demo on a 360, it looked butt ugly compared to PC. If you can play this on PC, you absolutely should. Make no mistake, this is some straight-up next gen shit right here! Just be sure to bring a controller because the keyboard/mouse controls are as terrible as you may expect. The only thing worse than pulling off combos with a keyboard is driving with one, so I don't blame the developer.

Hmmm hopefully the K/M controls are not as bad as he makes them out to be, some people who complain about K/M appear to just be crap at using them for certain games. The only time I need to use a gamepad is for racing games or when the developer has completely botched the controls.

He probably needs to fine tune a few things and just get used to the feel of things a little bit.

Thankfully people have the choice of both KBM and controllers. :)

I've never had a problem in any of these GTA and sandbox like games using KBM.

With one notorious exception: For flying situations in GTA 4 I HAD to bring out the controller. Dreadful.

I'm really digging it so far. The fighting is brutal and the city is bright and very much alive. Tons of NPCs can be on screen with great little details scattered throughout. The police missions are pretty cool and the whole game is bolstered by good voice acting and surprisingly sharp visuals. My card has no problem with the game at 1080p though I don't have AA on nor have I downloaded the texture pack. Without those I still saw full gpu usage (need to check cpu usage, my bad)

The controls can be clunky at times (oh, if only it were as fluid as Arkham City) and the camera hypersensitive, particularly when you first enter a car, but my initial impressions after 4-ish hours are very positive. Can't wait to play it again after work!

the Destructoid review mentioned: "The character models are the only areas where the game pales in comparison to Watch Dogs, but they still look impressive"

I noticed that while watching a few of the preview videos...the DX11 graphics didn't look all that impressive to me but I'm hearing that they look a lot better in-game

Dx11 maxed out looks great. I'm going to use FRAPS and see if I can give you all some screens.

1920x1200 Dx11 everything maxed out is having a little performance and fps issue so that might tell you something.

It's not Witcher 2 eye candy but I'm pretty friggin' impressed. No way you'd confuse this thing with the eye candy cranking for a console title in a million years. Nice menu options with upgrades paths, too.

Anyone following this? It looks interesting enough: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzDxttuq5fY

Mind you the commentators are annoying as heck in that video.

I thought so too. And LOL at their statement that an undercover cop must answer truthfully if directly asked about being a cop. If only someone in the mafia had remembered to ask the 'new guy' haha.

Looks rather interesting though, might have to pick this up some day.

Very cool to hear. What's your system again?

sounds good...I was going to wait for the deluxe edition to buy this as it sounds like a lot of DLC is planned in the coming months but I'm thinking about jumping in

25 fps is the best I can get maxed out according to FRAPS so I've got to turn some stuff down. I'm using high rez texture pack, too. Everyone that has this should get it ASAP.

I notice 2 options in advanced graphics called "3D Depth" and "3D Convergeance." I'm assuming these only affect actual 3D use and I have that option disabled since I don't have 3D but these are still accessible.
