Well To my horror no fix for the random CTD FML (I am not surprised though) . I hope that the sound issue fix fixes this for me. While it is not a huge deal (only happens after 5 hours of gameplay) it still sucks. I guess my hopes are set to high for bethesda on this one. Plus I wonder if they will allow for more than 2gb of ram (The recent steam update disabled LAA for me)

Thoughts...

Seems odd that there are no quest, performance, or content fixes. Some of the fixes are nice but unless there is more than shown on that changelog then it's overall pretty disappointing.

Wonder if it will be offered as a download vrs DLC for those of us that can't use an internet connection for updates.

seems like a big effing failure for a two week patch.. these are day 3 patch things. I expected more from a 2 week wait.

They made back the cost of making the game and then some in 3 days. Now its time for them to slip in to the 'meh' mode. Hell TES has such a fan base they could buy out Rage and rename it 'The Elder Scrolls; Rage' and re-release it with no changes and make a pile of money :p

All kidding aside I'd rather a 2 week wait and bugs properly fixed then a rushed even bugger patch.

This is probably the "day 3" patch (or whatever). Patches for the console need certification time (1-3 weeks? can't remember specifics atm). I suspect they have some deal with Sony, which is why the PS3 patch is launching first. It also makes sense to keep all 3 SKUs similar at this stage. Especially since the quest type fixes are likely very similar across all 3 platforms.

"The Creation Kit is not being released this week. Once we have more information on its release, we’ll let everyone know."

:(

"Fixed occasional issue where a guest would arrive to the player’s wedding dead"

LOL. I don't know why but that sounds hilarious to me.

It does make more sense for them to prioritize resources in patches versus getting the Creation Kit out, as much as I'd like to see it out.

Haven't played this game yet so forgive my ignorance but...

'ESC button can now be used to exit menus (PC)"

This had to be patched?

You must not read the Skyrim thread much; The UI is absolute atrocious. It's somewhat easy to get used to, but that doesn't make it any less shitty.

I did not see that issue at my wedding. Lol.

Though, I did see Sven there. However, everytime I watch that "Trick Shots" Youtube video, I think of killing Sven... for fun... :D

To be honest I like The UI. Once I got used to it i can fly through everything using W-A-S-D and the scroll button. The dialogue menus get me though I don't know what I am saying half of the time.

I can see why people prefer "esc," because it is more conventional. But I actually find it more problematic that more games do not use "tab" and "e" (or similar keys) as alternatives to "esc" and "enter." "Tab" and "e" is closer to WASD, which is what most people use as standard keys for movement, as such I can manipulate the menu using 1 hand and without leaving WASD and the other hand on mouse, which is a contrast to games that only allow "esc" and "enter."

It's probably referring to the Tab menu that you use to quickly access inventory, skills, magic, and manage favorites & hotkeys. Normally you would just press Tab again to close it (or whatever you bound it to). Or if you press ESC, it would open the Settings, Save, Exit screen. If you press ESC again, it will close that system menu but not the Tab menu.

Forget the patch, spend more time making a more thorough patch rather than wasting time getting this out the door.

I am "used" to the UI now, but that's a far cry from the UI being fast or good.

Heh. Sometimes the dragons would not properly attack, I figured I needed to be in a specific area for them to land but most of the time they landed and began attacking while a few times they just flew off or disappeared.

I recently had this dragon named Viinturuth whom I got to 0 health and he just continued to fly around and not land and die. Many hours later (real hours, not in-game hours) I fast traveled to an area near his location and he landed and immediately died as soon as he landed, heheh.

On one quest I had to go into the Elven ruins and the quest arrow lead me the wrong way in because it was the shortest way to the objective except it was blocked because it was actually the exit.

FAIL

The CTD but I'm getting approximately every 20-30 minutes, especially when I'm traveling around to lots of places, considering that all they need to do is fiddle with the LAA flag in the exe and re-release this is inexcusable.

The other major bug that I have is that the thieves guild quest line is broken completely from the start, the guy in Riften never visits the sewers so i can't join the guild, the bug also breaks almost every vendor in the town since they're stuck in the market place in their "distracted" state (it will make more sense if you've done the quest)

Okay, that honestly doesn't sound as retarded as I thought it was.

Im enjoying the game but it is buggy as hell. Not the least of which is having dragon souls but it tells me I need souls when I try to learn a shout.

Plus there were some really weird design choices. Why does your traveling/fighting partner not have a horse of their own, yet can keep up with you when you are riding?

SWEET on the config binding, can someone confirm it now allows keypad mapping so I can finally play

seems like the more hours put into the game the buggier it gets...I'm seeing weird texture corruption every once in awhile, CTD without any error message once every few days...but with the overall complexity of the game in general I'm surprised there are not more bugs...havn't seen any broken quests except for 1 minor issue during the 'Blood on the Ice' quest in Wildhelm where it requires you to do things in a very specific order or else you won't get credit for certain parts of the quest

The worst part is it sounds like they are 'almost done' due to "monitoring message boards". Bethesda really doesn't know what's broken in this game?

Did you "learn" the shout? I think the key is "R". You have to highlight the shout and then hit the R key, it should pop up a yes or no "Do you want to use a dragon soul" box.

I'm not surprised about this "patch" really. I would not expect any quest line patchs or real "fixes" until the next patch, maybe the one after that.

I'm curious about the quests that break when you clear a dungeon either before getting the quest OR by following a different quest. Those issues have been around pretty much since the beginning of the TES series. Usually they're eventually fixed, but sometimes it takes a while.

I wonder how much of a performance boost we can expect, too. My game runs really smooth most of the time, but in Riften, Solitude, or random places with both fog and fire things bog down.

I have my auto update disabled. If it's true to form for a Bethesda patch, at least early on, this will fix some problems and create some new ones. Right now I have my game remarkably stable and I'm just not going to take any chances.

In case you didn't know, there's a mod to do that already. There are three ways to install the mod, one of which only removes the keybindings from numpad keys. The other options change some of the other bindings, I think in addition to removing the numpad bindings.

I'll be happy if they changed it so I can use different keys for 'take all from chest' and 'place one item into chest'. My fault for not paying attention but I've been bitten by that a couple of times, and replacing everything is tedious.

I would not be surprised if Steam still patches the game. I'll be waiting a week or so for this patch to get some responses before I install it.

I've disabled auto update before and have checked back and found it re-enabled, so yes, it's a safe bet your exe files won't be safe unless you copy them to another folder. Even then, there's no guarantee the game will work correctly.

The best thing about holding off on purchasing new games is that when you do eventually buy them they are:

1. Fully patched and working
2. Significantly cheaper
3. Have tons of mods readily available

I was pretty sure there was a work around but wanted someone to do the work of digging it up for me so thanks :D

Definitely true...but there's also the downfall of hitting up the forums to talk about your experience and everyone has long since moved on to something else ;)

It does give those crazy RPG wiki sites time to flesh out, though.

No, it's broken for me, too. I have 16 souls and about 5 full shouts I can't assign souls to.

Interesting. Are you also having issues with the UI not highlighting items with the mouse? Or have to primarily use the WASD keys to navigate the UI? Also did you reassign keys? I wonder if they are related. Did you start having problems after a certain time, or are random shouts not working?

I saw somewhat of the same issue for the first couple of shouts (or at least levels) "R" would show up at the bottom of the UI but it would not do anything. It hit me that at the same time I also could not use "E" to take a book. I had assigned a few buttons to my mouse thumb buttons (E and R) which apparently scrambled the key settings as far as the UI went. I set the key bindings to default and the issue went away. I ended up setting a profile on my mouse so that Skyrim sees one button as "E" and one as "R". Works like a champ, at least for a work around.
