I have a Dell e520:eek: and I can't use a double slotted graphics card because of room issues

I been looking around for a card but I thought I would ask for some experienced help before I order one. The reason I'm upgrading is the card I got now won't play Modern Warefare 2. The I have is a 7950GT I want to upgrade with a nvidia instead of ATI just cause my system is intel based. But I would be open to a ATI card if it was just right. I have never really played compter games online before,(played consoles alot) but I keep hearing PC gaming is the way to go. So I will be building/buying a new gaming PC early next year, so this tempory until I get a new system. so please school me [H]ardlForum veterens:) I have a XL2370 @ 1920x1080 res

The nVidia 9800GT is the best single-slot video card. If you have not done so already, upgrading the low-quality 305W PSU is probably a good idea, because it probably can't handle the 9800GT.

Edit: newegg has a very nice deal going on the Corsair 400cx, $50 - $20 mail-in rebate + about $10 shipping = $40.

yep that was one of the first things I did. a 650w psu, 4gigs of ram, 750 hdd, and a E4600

Fixed that for you. There is a single slot HD4850 out there and it is faster than the 9800GT. However it's not worth the extra $50 over the 9800GT. So the 9800GT is definitely a good choice for the money.

Ehh, good enough answer. You're lucky that all of Antec's 650W PSUs are of good quality.

I haven't seen a single slot 260gtx. if you have than let me know where it's at and I'll get that one. yea the psu is great never had any problems. what makes the 9800gt better than the hd 4850. the 4850 has 800 stream processors and the 9800gt has 112 thats a big difference

I would try and find a used 4850 single slot, can't believe they are that hard to find

Have you heard of the gtx 260 single slot edition?

No, I hadn't! I see it's the Galaxy 260+ Razor.

However, when trying to find out where to buy it, I see notes that Galaxy is in the process of pulling out of Western markets to concentrate on the Asian market, so I'm not sure this will ever be available.

There are gtx260 that have a single slot bracket... but internally, their coolers are dual slot.

EDIT:I stand corrected/

A single spec won't tell you which card is faster. There's lots of 9800GT vs 4850 reviews around, but short answer is that the 4850 is a little faster sometimes but not enough to matter.

ATi counts the little math units, nVidia ignores them it their counts.

Divide 800/5 = 160

But the different architectures make that comparison moot, too.

that single slot 260gtx lokks and sounds awesome but I can't find release date if at all but I am thankful for all of your comments I will just go with 9800gt for the mean time. Like I said I will be buying a gaming set up soon so I'll just go with this one until then. This is the kind rig I am lokking at http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4776265&CatId=1886
either to build one like this one or just take the easy way and buy this one.

they are in stock over here in Australia(wholesalers) but remember this card is very long..so it won't fit most ordinary cases.

I've heard that the 5770 will soon be available in single slot solution. It'll destroy the 9800GT or the 4850 in performance and consumes as much power under load as a 9800GT and less at idle.

Tbh, untill the 5770 comes without a 6-pin connector and a board power below 70w like the 9800GT EE I'ma stick with the XFX 9800GT EE I have on order from NewEgg :)

Single slot 66w board power FTW.

I'd pref ATI and all but they don't have a part for my fancy untill Q1 when the HD 5670 comes out with a better be lower than 70w board power while keeping eye-finity. Oh, better be single-slot too or I'm keepin my 9800GT.
