Simple PSU Question, hopefully

Hey guys/gals.

I'm having a somewhat debatable and pondering question regarding these two power supplies:

Are they relatively close in performance/stability/quality?

The reason I ask is because I can get the Antec PSU + OCZ Vendetta 2 for $110 (before $10 MIR) at Mwave.

or

I can get the the OCZ PSU + Xigamtek HDT-S1283 + 4GB USB flash drive (free) - Promotion Code ($12) for $105 (before $30 MIR) at Newegg.

The HSF's perform relatively the same (OCZ coming out in the end) but I am pondering on the quality of these power supplies.

Thanks again.

The OCZ PSU is based off the FSP Episilon PSU design which has out of spec ripple, or voltage fluctuations, at high loads that can damage or kill your system. Granted, you may not reach such high loads but why pay for a PSU that can kill your system?

However, that doesn't mean that the EA650 is the winner. Far from it. Besides knowing the manufacturer of the PSU (Delta), not much is known about the actual performance, stability, and quality of the EA650.

If you can, wait until Monday or so before ordering. There's supposedly a review of the EA650 going up on Monday over at jonnyguru.com. That should tell us all we need to know about the EA650.

Sweet thanks for the info!

I will definitely wait for his review. :)

The EA650 review may also shed some light on the other EarthWatts "D" series.

Yeah hopefully Oklahoma Wolf (the main PSU reviewer over at JonnyGuru now that JonnyGURU has retired from PSU reviews) will get the review up.

And device manager is right: the review might shed some light on the other Delta made Antec Earthwatts PSUs (Hopefully as great as Delta made Antec Signature PSUs:))

I also was looking at the Antec Trio 550. I don't mind the appeal of the PSU as long as it performs well. ;)

Do you guys know if they're still Seasonic made?

Looks like I'm gonna order me a new PSU.

I'm currently using a Coolmax 500W in my parents machine (don't laugh).. ;)

I'd have to laugh at myself too if I did. Got a CP-500T kicking around for basic component testing.

Arg, sorry to disappoint you guys but I instead bought a Corsair 620HX off of eBay for $71.
