Anyone into Sim Racing?

I fell down a rabbit hole this week and just picked up a Logitech G923 w/ an inexpensive wheel/pedal rig on a whim.

Looking forward to diving in this weekend.

I grew out of it. Was heavy into Assetto Corsa and modding thereof.

It made me somewhat paranoid driving in real life. You learn how easy it is to fly off the road :)

I went a bit overboard the last year with simracing stuff. Tho I like sim driving more and racing is just a means to and end so I really only race against AI. I mostly mess around in modded Assetto Corsa. I like cruising around in different kinds of cars. Seems like I've been digging 60's and 70's stuff in the sim with old style prewar tracks. I also sometimes play a little ACC, LMU, or BeamNG.drive. A list of my crap:

Next Level Racing Wheel Stand 2.0
Fanatec CSL DD 8nm w/ QR2
Fanatec CSL Pedals LC w/ Mod Kit + Race Sim Engineering Clutch & Throttle kit + Simagic P-HPR Haptic Pedal Reactors
Fanatec Clubsport Steering Wheel RS
Fanatec Clubsport Sifter SQ v1.5
Simagic Handbrake TB-1
Simagic GT Neo wheel w/ Sim Racing Machines Emulator v5
A.JAZZ Stream deck clone thing I use for a cheap button box
2 Dayton BST-1 bass shakers, one under the pedal mount and one attached to my chair. They're powered by an old AVR.
Arduino clone based wind sim with 3D printed shrouds.
Philips Hue Play Bar Lights (synced to the dash of whatever car I'm driving)
SimHub controls the haptic reactors, bass shakers, wind sim, and Hue lights.

I also have a VR headset and that is super awesome but it's also really hot. I haven't tried it since I built the wind sim so that should help. I've been thinking of upgrading to a Fanatec Clubsport DD which is pretty much twice the torque.

I'm into simracing. Currently using fanatec csl dd wheel with clubsport 3.5 pedals mounted on a playseat challenge rig. Great thing about the rig is I just fold it up and put it in the corner when not using it. I'm into grand prix legends and old (70s and older ) mods for Assetto Corsa. Best way to enjoy racing online is to join a club/league, where people will at least try to race you clean.

Good to see some folks here at [H] are into Sim Racing so I'm not just an outlier.
I'm still dialing in my setup. Picked up a 49" curved Samsung monitor today to help round out the current PC setup. Xbox Series X is on a 65 inch 4k TV right next to it, so my rig can slide between the two.

So far, this is a blast and I can see where the equipment will be upgraded moving forward. Thankfully, I do not have room for a full non-portable rig here right now. Otherwise, I might need an intervention.

At this point, I've been working to get Assetto Corsa dialed in and setup well on PC and just installed F1 2024 on my Xbox. My buddy ran a couple of laps in F1, but I haven't even loaded it yet.

My goal is to spend the next couple of weeks getting acclimated on Assetto Corsa, Competizione, Forza and F1 before allowing myself to join iRacing.

I will not upgrade any equipment for 6 weeks. This will not only test my commitment, but also tell me more about what I may want to upgrade to.

Getting some friends hooked is also in the plan. This beats Pickleball as a pastime all day!

looking for my first rig as well. Same as some of you, looking to start cheep-ish but good enough to see if I really enjoy it as much as the few times ive been in decent rigs for just a few minutes at a time.

It did the opposite for me. Sim racing made me more confident about driving in real life.

Thrustmaster is a good place to start with. They offer everything from entry level to pro level equipment, with the pro level stuff being generally less expensive than the boutique companies with similar quality.

Just ordered the Logitech Pro wheel and pedals and their seat. If I still like racing after a few months I'll buy/build something nicer and then have this so I can race the kids. Let me get all I needed for less than $2000

That's a semi-decent price for an introductory direct drive wheel, though the control placement and ergonomic design of the wheel itself leave a lot to be desired. Not so keen on the pedals, though, as I've never been impressed with Logitech's pedals over the years. For what it's worth, their Pro pedals look an awfully lot like the Fanatec pedals I bought 11 years ago and I absolutely loved them.

Yeah the pedals reviewed well. Im stuck needing Xbox compatibility for now as I don't have a gaming rig (or any PC) so going to use my xbox. Plus I have 2 xboxs so if I ever build a more high end rig I can race with the kids. I'll use this for 6 months and if I really like it Ill drop more like $5-6K to build a PC and get a higher end setup.

Plus I can always sell these if I don't like it much.

I found a cheap Thrustmaster T300 GT RS with TH8A shifter and a real wheel for cheap to use with VR (Quest 3) and I really suck at these games, lol.
Kinda funny I actually do better on a real track, although I just took my motorcycle and own car for a few fun laps.
I'm not much about sim racing though, I prefer arcade-ish and fun stuff like BeamNG. Still not sold on VR as the visuals are much worse, but my setup is too cumbersome to move in front of my large screen. I might buy one of those AR glasses like Viture XR Pro, but once they go 1440p.

I picked up a Fanatec ClubSport DD (this was before Endor AG filed for insolvency) and have it set to 10nm constant (it'll do 12 max), the CSL DD w/boost kit is 8 peak (~6 constant). The stuff without power steering is pretty tough. It's to the point I almost consider sim racing to be a upper body workout lol. It's great, it feels better than the CSL DD imo. I can catch some oversteer much easier now. I keep messing with Assetto Corsa mods and I need to try out the new VRC Formula Alpha 2024.

Iracing for me. Have a SimXperience Accuforce V2 Wheel, Fanatec V3 Pedals, Fanatec Shifter all on a trakracer tr80 frame. Use G2 headset and have a 27" Display when I just want to drive around.

Started sim racing half a year ago. Have never really liked sims but now in better age I start to appreciate them :) soft start about a year ago with NFS Heat on controller. But wanted something with more feel to it. So I bought a MOZA R5 bundle and started with Forza Horizon 5. Then tried BeamNG.drive a little but I actually like the "gaming" aspect in Forza. Wish it was a tad better feeling though so I have my hopes up for the the upcoming Assetto Corsa EVO. Here is my DIY rig as of now, have just "finished" it I hope.

Sims you really need the gear for IMO. Controllers don't cut it. NFS is were it really started for me. Now I kinda want a NFS + AC kinda deal.

So I have been playing Assetta Corsa and F1 24 on my Xbox with the Logitech pro wheel and pedals for a few months now and I play 10 or so hours a week. I am finally getting the hang of braking (but still quite bad) and now I am starting to enjoy it even more. So with that I want to build a PC for AC Evo next year and get a better cockpit and gear (maybe sell my current stuff to some people here for a killer price).

I can figure out all the Sim gear I want, but I have not built a PC in 10+ years. For aesthetics I want to built as small as possible as this will share space in my office that is pretty clean, but seems modern gaming rigs love some power and heat . . . Budget wise is hard as I can spend what I want but would rather put more money into better SIM gear where possible, so thinking $2k or so. I have no carry over parts so all from scratch. This will be dedicated to SIM racing so no need for large HD space or anything that does not apply to SIM racing. Of course I can google, but looking hear first as this place knows better than most websites. Plus the fact that I dont plan to play anything on this besides SIM racing . . .

Input?

Just like other games most of it comes down to resolution and frame rate. Then maybe single screen or triples? VR?

Still using my Obutto Ozone from 2009
Logitech G Pro with TLCM and TH8A
I also have a Thrustmaster TGT2 with SF1000 which I swap out easily when I want to use it for F1.

I got some new pedals a few weeks ago. Simagic P1000i with the P-HPR haptics on each pedal. Clutch has a thump on shifting, brake has ABS when it engages, and throttle has TC when it engages. Gives me some extra feedback, the brake one being the best by a long shot. I also got the pad and spring kit and I have a combo that feels a bit like a regular car (not a fan of stiffer brakes with little travel). Anyway they feel much better than my Fanatec CSL w/ Load Cell, definitely more immersive and realistic (I did have the haptics on those as well). They seem to really help me avoid colliding with other cars compared to my old pedals so I'm trying to get my safety rating in ACC up. There's hydraulic options for the throttle and brake. I got the throttle the way I like it and the brakes are pretty good now. I might get the hydraulic brake at some point but probably not the throttle one.
