just came across this video, what do you think about the tech and when if ever will it become available to the Public (months? Years?)
Follow along with the video below to see how to install our site as a web app on your home screen.
Note: This feature may not be available in some browsers.
I think that:
1) This video is a year old and you've heard nothing more of it, that really says all you need to know. However...
2) This is just game streaming aka Stadia. That has Google backing it, a company with waaaaay more datacenters than these yokels (Google is the #3 cloud provider after AWS and Azure) and they can't make it not suck. These guys have no chance.
I just came from the Shadow website and they have a special sign up for $12.99/mo and I read that they give you 256GB SSD space and that adding games is on a 1GB/s service so I'm guessing you upload your games somehow to that SSD?
Jensen Huang said "“If your question is, ‘How long before streaming can be as good as a PC?’ the answer is never.”
is he talking 1080p or what?
I'm hoping that someone who has or is using Shadow will make a post with details about how it all works and if I should still build my next gaming rig or not
*Forever... Some say it was dying before it existed...PC gaming dying since 2003.
Televisions didn't destroy movie theaters, but it did force Hollywood to improve their film quality and explore deeper subjects.
Pirates didn't destroy PC games, but it did force publishers to tighten budgets and developers to reduce overall quality while exploring more shallow gameplay.
I always get triggered by things "this will replace pc" type stuff. Yes, you might replace pc gaming taken at a snapshot in time and all before that, but pc evolves too so your product needs to be a step ahead of that evolution to completely replace it.
