Wow. Not knocking you for getting your Sentry but just...wow. Where in the US are you if you don't mind me asking? Mine was shipped 5/5/17 and "Sent from Poland" on 5/10/17. This is the last update I show for tracking. I guess it's just the difference in how they got shipped? Alas, my exercise in patience continues...

OMG....you pay for additional insurance and your package is being delivered in such condition... Please check if everything is fine with internal box.
On a break, but I'm sure and optimistic that the packaging inside is perfect. I'll make an update once I've opened it. So excited!!!

Seriously? Mine shipped May 6 and I haven't seen it yet. USPS hasn't updated their crap in a long time.
Sorry to hear that. I hadn't known about my shipment until today as I never checked my junk mail for the email from the courier service. So it was indeed a nice surprise that elated my day!

No worries, I believe you are correct in saying it must be a different route in shipping. Mine must have hit the perfect window and hopped on a flight from Germany to Memphis, Tennessee then onwards to Dayton, Ohio.

Dang. Happy for you, but sucks for me. I'm in the US and was part of the first shipment and haven't heard anything since the 10th

I'm in Reno, Nevada (ugh) which is just off the West cost of the US. I just got my package today - I currently have pictures uploading very slowly so I can write my unboxing.

Let me just say that you're going to be crazy excited when you get to open it up. As much as I laugh at YouTubers who use the phrase, it's a "premium experience," and totally makes it worth the wait. :)

I'm glad I'm not the only one from the first shipment with no updated tracking. I think the ship is lost at sea...

Assuming yours was in the 2nd shipment?

Let's hope not. I'm in New Hampshire, so I hope that I'll get it soon. If someone in Ohio got it, I would assume East Coast shouldn't be too far behind. I haven't seen an update on either USPS or the Polish tracking site since May 10th.

Alright. Holy cow!!!

The package took five days bouncing all around Poland until it found the Customs Office, but after it cleared Customs, it took TWO DAYS to get all the way to the US and to my front door. (Where FedEx proceeded to ruin everything. :p)

Since there have been a lot of posts about building in the Sentry, but not yet one about unboxing, I figure I'll cover that. (Especially since I still need a couple parts before I can build in it. :( )

So, without further ado, here it goes:

So.

The first thing that you see when you get your Sentry is... a sticker letting you know that you missed your Sentry.

Then you go to the FedEx building, only to be told that despite what the sticker they left you said, and despite the fact that yes, they do have your package in the facility, you have to wait for it to be delivered the next day. Thanks, FedEx.

So then you lie in wait for the postman. When I opened my door to him, he didn't even have the package with him - he had filled out another sticker on his truck and was sneaking up to leave it on my door again. Thankfully my supremely effective biological-based security alarm (Read: noisy-ass dogs) let me know he was up to his tricks again.

And holy cow! You guys were serious about this being a large box. It was actually sort of hilarious to me that such an intentionally tiny PC case came in such a huge shipping container; I was half expecting it to be nothing but nested boxes, like a series of matryoska dolls. :p

(Sorry for not giving a better sense of scale, and for the potato-quality pictures, but, erm... I guess you can tell how large it is by the unintentional toes? The good news is that it's so blurry that I don't even have to worry about anybody seeing my address! :p )

By the way, Zombi and Saper, since you guys asked - this was the side of the package that was the most beaten up. Apparently the barbarians know from the hundreds of hours I sunk into Civilization III as a kid that I'm not to be messed with, and so they left my package alone.

Opening it up, we find inside a foam-protected, plastic wrapped case. Good job on the packaging by the way; it doesn't waste nearly so much material as a lot of what I've seen, but still did a perfect job of protecting the contents. *(Again, sorry about the toes. I was a bit too excited to focus on taking perfect photos.)

I didn't take a picture of the black, Sentry-branded plastic bag that the actual packaging was inside, but it actually has carrying handles, which was a pretty cool touch.

The case inside has a very clean shrink-wrap job, and really looks as though it should be in a textbook for industrial design; it's very clean and conveys every single bit of information it ought to:

My hands were shaking as I was opening it up; I didn't want to scratch the cardboard box. :p

The only complaint that I had during the entire process came here: Once the plastic was off, I actually had to be very gentle trying to get the box itself open, because every side of the lid fits inside the main box, so trying to pull it out without bending the cardboard took a second. (But really, I'm just nitpicking. The fit and finish was as nice as opening up a Noctua cooler, and I'd previously thought they were on a level of their own when it came to their packaging.)

One thing that I felt was a particularly nice touch was the note written on the front flap:

Inside you'll find a postcard, which is actually really neat, and a list of the parts included. I'm going to tattle on myself here because you'll find it funny: This picture took me a little while to get right, because the parts list is super glossy... to the point where, when I opened up the box, I went, "Why did they give me a sheet of stickers with the included screws on them?"

(No, I'm serious. It looks exactly like a sheet of stickers.)

I will say that the QR code is a really nice touch - it links to the manual on the zaber.com.pl website. The only thing that I might suggest is putting a small label for what it's a QR code for on the next revision... but since you have it right under the logo, that's really not a big deal.

Honestly, I like this way better than having a paper copy of the manual. It's always going to be up-to-date, and I can easily access it on my phone and find what I need instead of flipping through a paper booklet looking for the one tiny detail that actually matters.

Next up, off comes the sleek bag protecting the case from scratches. (And again, I really like the attention paid to branding here; it's all very slick.)

The case comes with (in counter-clockwise order, starting from the bottom left):

1) The mounting bracket for the primary two SSDs.

2) The secondary bracket for additional 2.5" drives in the GPU bay

3) The case badge plus rivets. (This will probably come preinstalled on future cases - I'd requested an option on mine.)

4) A bag of all the screws that you could possibly wish for - all seperated into their own baggies so that you don't have to hunt through a pile to find the right screw. (And possibly use one that's slightly incorrect and strip something while you're at it... yeah, I've done that before.)

5) All the necessary hardware to use the case horizontally. Again, I appreciate that this is separate, because it lets me keep everything in one spot in case I ever want to use the case that way. (And I'm probably not using the plastic plugs for the mounting holes. I'm weird that way.)

6) The USB 3.0 front panel connector. I was actually quite surprised to see that the cable is black; that's a nice little touch that I now recall having been mentioned at some point.

7) The flexible PCIe extender. I have to say, even though it makes perfect sense logically, I was sort of shocked that it was as short as it is. :p
(For those of you who are curious, I have an excellent quality Samtec PCIe riser that I'll be comparing to this one.)

Oh, and here's a bit of advice for you. When you're super excited to play with your new toy, but you can't seem to figure out why the stand won't attach correctly... those extra two holes are actually there for a reason. It took me an embarrassing amount of time to realize that.

Now that you've seen all the pretty shots of the Sentry, for those of you who are curious, here's what I plan on actually doing with it:

This is the computer that it will be replacing - an ivy bridge based mini ITX system using an original Raven RVZ-01. Notice how one of the rubber feet (which are only pressed on) got lost a long time ago during transport, and has since been replaced by a folded Kleenex. (and how one of the case filters fell off in a parking lot and wasn't found until it had been run over...)

This computer is currently sitting in my mothers' house, replacing an 8-year old Phenom II x2 system. She considers it to be a very nice upgrade which lets her grade her students' papers much faster, so at least it's still being useful. :)

This is the system that will be going into the Sentry - a Kaby Lake i3-7350K. (Which is currently sitting at 4.7GHz with ease, not even breaking 75c... and that's before delidding it. My goal is to get 5.0Ghz and keep it below 75c inside the case.) The graphics card actually belongs to a friend - his motherboard went kaput, we thought it fried his graphics card, he gave it to me after buying a whole new system, and after repairing a fan, it works perfectly. Unfortunately, I haven't checked that it'll fit inside the Sentry, and don't necessarily want it anyways. It's probably going up on Craigslist / Ebay.

That is my venerable old 670, which served me quite well for many a year, plus the cooler off of a GTX 1080. My plan is to buy a founders' edition GTX 1070 and replace the stock cooler with the one from the 1080, which has the vapor chamber that the 1070's heatsink is missing. Anybody want some old graphics cards or nice sound cards? ;)

Oh, and the apparently obligatory dog? :p

She thought the case was nearly as interesting as I did, until she got too curious and started licking the damn thing. Well, I guess it really is mine now...

So yeah, my Sentry is currently sitting next to me, absolutely taunting me. I left my old SFX-L power supply in the computer I gave to my mother, and have been using the 550w Antec power supply that was in her computer. (It's lasted for freaking ever, I'm rather impressed by it.) However, that means that I can't actually build in the Sentry yet! :(

My plan looks something like this:

1) Get a Corsair SFX power supply. I'm currently on the fence as to whether I should get the 450w or 600w units. I only need the 450, and if I'm replacing the fan anyways, it seems like there's no reason to pay more.

2) Get a Noctua NF-A9 92mm fan to replace the stock power supply fan with. Those of you who have done this, the fan that comes with the Noctua L9i is apparently different from the one they sell as a stand-alone. How important would you consider the extra couple hundred RPM? My plan is to have the fan controlled through PWM by the motherboard, and to have it be spinning constantly.

3) Buy the GTX 1070, replace the cooler, come back to these forums and report on the results. I live in the high desert and during the summer it gets hot enough to make you want to melt. My hope is that between the (overclocked) 60w CPU and the 150W graphics card stapled to a 250W cooler, the entire system will have more-than-comfortable temps. The room I live in was converted from a garage by the previous owners and is... rather poorly insulated. I want as little extra heat during the summer as possible.

4) Upgrade my storage. I'm currently using a 128GB Samsung 850 evo and a 2TB Samsung 2.5" HDD. There's nothing important on the storage drive that's not backed up to my NAS, but having had bad experiences with hard drives (including frying one after swapping PCBs while troubleshooting over-zealously), I would like to avoid having any mechanical storage. My plan is a 250GB 960 EVO and as large of a 2.5" storage SSD as I can afford... once NAND prices come down a little.

5) A few tweaks to the Sentry. While I actually don't think the black screws on the white case stand out nearly as much as I thought that they would, I want to replace them with silver hex-head bolts. (As in a flat, hexagonal head, not just the screw slot.) I also want to install a power switch, but I can't decide between the silver, RGB-lit switch that I would have to solder and wire myself, or a prewired, black, white-lit switch. I'm actually leaning towards the white-lit switch just because I think it'll look sleeker.

6) EDIT: Oh yeah, and then I need to win the lottery and buy Asus's new 1440p, ultrawide, HDR, gsync monitor to go with the case that's a third of its size. Can't believe I forgot that part.

Once those few tweaks are done, I think I'll be able to truthfully say that I have my ideal small form factor computer.

Final thoughts? I can't stop touching the case. I absolutely love the powder coating on the finish; it's incredibly well done. Everything fits together perfectly; there's not even any wiggle or alignment gap between the stand and the case.

Cheers, you guys, and thank you SO much for bringing us such an amazing product.

Same here...

What the hell, he even has a white one that got delivered ... where they hell are the first 150 black ones?
Got my tracking # on May 6th. It will be 1 month next tuesday, not a single update on the order tracking site or USPS site. I'm guessing someone got some Sentries after they "accidentally fell off a truck" somewhere ...

Cool dog. She does not look amused though. She was probably enjoying chewing on the box until you unceremoniously took it away from her.

Wow, can confirm it is in fact a premium experience!
Loved the naritive and unboxing experience as well, I too took many a photos during my own (Winnie, @themysteriesofwinnie (fiancé told me to, no shame), my dog was not impressed too as it doesn't roll or make noise).

You need not worrie Dr Zaber team, your amazing and exceptionally well designed case was in perfect shape. The "minor" blemishes on the outer box had no effect to the contents inside and boy were they amazing!
The unboxing was so satisfying and truly felt like Christmas in June, honestly I have a hard time describing how fantastic it is to see two someone's hard work and own genius come to such fruition. I can't wait to build in this case over the weekend and run proper tests (I've been using a Titan XP FE (not little p) cooler on my Asus Turbo GTX 1070 for quite awhile and immediately forgot to run benches for the before to compare to the after, oops.

Goodnight all and thank you again SaperPL and ZombiePL as well as everyone who was involved in this project between the forums community to the folks that helped with sorting all those screws and filing the customs forums!

  • m.2 slot
  • 4 SATA-600 ports
  • 802.11 ac WiFi + bluetooth 4.2
  • 4x USB 3.0
  • 2x USB 3.1
  • ALC 1220 audio chip without optical audio
  • Realtek network chip
Price and release date is unknown.
The 8-pin CPU power and 24-pin Motherboard power are in an odd place so I won't be buying this board for the Sentry.

One thing I do like about this board is the number of usb in the rear I/O. Most of the AM4 boards I have looked at have maybe 4 usb with complete waste of space around the video output connections. This is also much better than the Z170 G1 Gaming 5 I previously had, one of the reasons I replaced it.

It does have odd placement for the power connectors and usb 3.0 header.

Just take the time to read the last few pages, and have the patience to wait; Do not distract them with such questions, because when each time the answers to such questions take away from them a lot of time, and such inattentive customers as you are a few hundred.

For the person complaining that I distract them here is an extract from the last email.

(I replied to Mr ZombiPL in a direct conversation).

"Finally weekend :) Almost all packages from 2nd 150 cases transport sent. Everyone within this range of units should get an email with tracking number."

I have checked my spam folder. I have read the last few pages and all I read is people happy to have received White Sentries and people complaining about the shipping time, meaning they can track their order.

I feel that if my order is missing in action it is a legitimate line of inquiry to ask what's up with that. At best my order is already shipped and the transporter is backlogged, at worst it got lost and they might want to investigate why and put it in the weekly email (which, incidentaly, I commend them for, as I follow another "project" that is very much lackadaisical in its update to customers). And again I feel this is part of dealing with shipping an project.

I got my original tracking email from biuro@allekurier.pl the link from there gave me the tracking number. After asking here I then found out you can search for the same number from the GLS Tracking page. And then from there I got my Parcelforce tracking number.

Search your email/mailbox to see if anything has been sent from this address.

That won't work if it's been shipped to the US. All we have is USPS tracking telling us, "We have received notice that the originating post is preparing to dispatch this mail piece." I would have gladly paid for extra shipping if I knew it was only going to take a week.

That's the exact same notification that I have on my USPS tracking info, ever since May 10th, with no updates since then.

I've had stuff shipped from China that takes this long, so it's not uncommon. It just kind of sucks that we got the slower shipping process. But, hey, that's what happens when you're the guinea pig.

ZombiPL is there any way we can pay more for shipment to get it delivered safer or faster?
3) Indiegogo is not perfect - there isn't an option to give you two shipping types to choose unless you split a perk but at the same time you can't make multiple perks share item limit which was our core problem with white cases in the campaign.

Also we didn't want to split perks into smaller batches because:
a) once again indiegogo is a mess and you have to fill out the shipping charges for every single country by hand each time and checking that up for the perks we had was already terrible.
b) we didn't want to make an impression that perks are running out and then adding more like some campaigns do because it effects in people getting pissed and refunding which was counterproductive

Well anythings possible if you pay. People could team up with willing people in nearby EU countries, have it shipped to them from the indiegogo campaign and have them ship it with expensive high priority freight or even pay for a ticket on a passenger plane :), but that might be a bit late to start arranging now.

I guess my other message got lost so here is my order number:

The order number was 1069. It's marked as "first batch Sentry white". As I recall it was # 148 or 149 of the white sentry first batch.

Safer: If you have some propositions, we are always listening (but we aren't going to take additional money from you).
Faster: no.

But hey, let's simulate this :) just to satisfy the curiosity :)

Right now people from USA got shipping for about $27. ok....

Current best offer we have for fast single packages (not mass transport) is still something like $85 (we have an offer for $60 if we send all of the packages with one of the couriers, but there is no option everybody would agree on such amount of money). If you would like to pay us right now, our company's bank ( it isn't the best one there is :( ) adds to your external payment a bit of additional costs, because of... foreign exchange (paying in different than local currency... You are paying us in USD but we have to pay couriers in Poland in PLN). As far as i remember it will be 80 PLN ($21,58 USD) + some percent of the sending amount, but minimum 30 PLN ($8,09 USD). It means instead of $27 you would pay almost $115 USD for transporting the case which costs $195 USD. I'm not sure if paying 4 times more for 1-2 weeks shipment than for 4-6 weeks transport is worth that amount of money.

If there will be future campaign or something like that, then it is very probable that we will get better offers based on our current knowledge. Before this campaign (our first ever) none of the courier companies would give us at least "only" 2 times higher prices than we gave you with our national post. Most of them gave us numbers which were 4-6 times higher. From their point of view we aren't worth trust, because there are many companies with crowdfunding projects which failed and until we will succeed and we will show them that we can gather enough number of packages we will have to pay more for the transport.

To sum up:
At this point there is no option for us to send you guys packages in different way than we are sending them now. If we would like to use fast 1-2 weeks shipping, the prices would be 4-6 times higher, which in some cases would be equal or higher than cost of Sentry itself. There is no point for wasting money in such way (in our opinion ofc). Please be patient and wait for your packages. And believe me... we are more impatiently waiting when you will get the packages than you are.

I hope this simulation answers some of the questions why we picked this form of transport.

Oh. One more thing. For everyone who would check if i didn't write something wrong, for this math i used the the dollar to polish złoty conversion from today (2.06.2017) which is $1 = 3,707 PLN. Before the campaign it was something like $1 = 4,2 PLN, so it can change the whole view at prices a little bit.

You have to understand there is a difference between 1st batch and 1st transport. Please read all updates and the campaign page.

We are trying to send ~150 cases for each transport. 1st batch was a number of cases we could "order from our suppliers in one order". If there would be more orders in the campaign, for example 2000-5000, then there would be a need of making a real "Long run batch". With only few cases over 1000 units there was no need to make additional batches, so everyone are in 1st batch. We just sent 2 transports of cases and this week we will be preparing 3rd one (we are in the middle of this process right now). With your number (1069) i assume your case will be sent with 4th or 6th transport of cases (2nd or 3rd of white cases). This is why you probably didn't get your tracking number yet.

Duh! Obviously!

Apologies to everyone and ZombiPL and ZaberPL in particular.

It's not the forum I should have re-read it's the indigogo page. I had conflated the First Batch with the transport batches. Thank you very much for your clarifications.

So I must misremember the white number, it must have been ~299 not around 149 then. Anyway, i won't bug you about my order again until July then!

Finished my round one of my Sentry build! Round two will be a whole other beast of an upgrade on the AM4 Ryzen platform. tldr at bottom...

First up is the preporation and layout outlook:

After laying every thing out I was definitely thinking wow, I know this case is supposed to be really small with little to no room to spare inside, but I have tons of space. Little did I know that I had to fit 4 different corsair cables, 2 sata cables, and one usb 3.0 front I/O cable. Jeez it was a battle

Side note, thanks for having metallic screws for my magnetic tool!

I couldn't fit my second hard drive above the motherboard and also didn't want one above the GPU so I took off the 2.5'' encloure of my 500GB Samsung Evo 850 and wrapped it up in electrical tape. Would have liked to use gaffers tape, but didn't have any on hand.

After about an 30 minutes of putting the case together and at least an hour for cable management/routing cables for both HDDs I have a finished build!

Ok time to fire this bad boy up! Put the panel on with only 3 screws just in case and started plugging the power and HDMI cables. Gave it a quick look of awe and pushed that sweet button! ... Bruhhhh I totally forgot the switch on the PSU is set to off... I felt like a dumb for a hot sec and after a quick run around I ended up using the supplied owl wrench to flip the switch, genius!!

Plugged everything back in and started her up again.... black screen whyyyyy. Computer power cycled 3 times so I knew something was going wrong inside, turns out I didn't seat my CPU 4-PIN cable all they way and now tried again this time keeping the panel off. Black screen again, but at least no power cycle one problem fixed! I was going through a couple thoughts in my head but ended up thinking it was the riser cable, gave it a thorough look over and everything was seated properly, then i noticed my CPU 4-Pin cable along with the CPU fan cables are in "contact" with it. Moved the riser cable away and BAMMO we are in business. So folks don't forget to not have power cables interfering with the riser cables signal.

End result:

Thank you again Dr Zaber team, you two are freaking amazing and I can't thank you all enough, this case is beautiful!

Tldr: 10/10 would definitely buy again
