Scary Games

Doom 3 defiantely made me jump a couple of times before the gag got old.

Ravenholm was creepy, but I kind of felt like I had help the whole time with that crazed priest appearing periodically. Arguably the coolest character in a game EVER in my humble opinion.

Anyone ever play through the haunted mansion at the beginning of Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines? That was some badass atmospheric creepiness.

hahaha YES!....

I LOVED Father Grigori and his rifle....

Shalebridge Cradle (thief 3 level) is definitely one of the most awesome levels ever designed in a game.
I first played that level alone at night with the lights off, it was one hell of an experience.

The entire game was worth it for that level alone.

What's the scariest game you guys ever played? I think mine would have to be Clive Baker's Undying. Playing that in the dark is very fun.

totally agreed, clive b's undying was freaky at the time, and probably still is.
definetly the haunted mansion in VBTM, when i thought i heard a head bouncing around in the dryer, i hesitated before looking.

too many scary games out there now, the effect is gone, i cant get scared from games anymore, i can still get jumpy though.

Are there any PC horror games that would give me nightmares? 'Cause that's just what I'm looking for at the moment.

Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing

this game will give your nightmares nightmares

The Resident Evil series on PlayStation definitely gave me more scares than any other games have. Especially RE1 and RE3. RE3 probably wins out as scariest though because in the back of your mind you're carrying that fear that the Nemesis is out there somewhere and you could run into him at any moment. The first Nemesis encounter in RE3 definitely scared the hell out of me

Lets see...

The first time I played a Resident Evil game (I think 2?). That had a pretty good atmosphere and made me jump a couple times.

I thought the Condemned demo was well done in terms of a horror atmosphere. Did anyone go to the website after the demo and watch the prequel story line? Just as good as the demo.

I played the demo for Nocturne. This game (circa 1999) was pretty cool because the gamma level in the game meant you could ONLY play it in the dark. If you tried adjust the brightness, the game would be too washed out to play. It was a feature of the game. If the game had decent controls, it would have been awesome.

As far as Half-Life, I thought the They Hunger mod was about as scary as Ravenholm in HL2.

I also recall some old PC adventure game that had 7 in the title. It wasn't scary, but was unsettling enough to make the game exciting.

Horror games/movies aren't my thing, so the creepiest thing I've played was the Ravenholm level of HL2. I knew I was screwed when the guy said "Oh, and DONT go through Ravenholm" right before I left. I HATE those rabid skeleton zombie things...freaky as hell seeing them jump over a rooftop towards you.

FEAR just like everyone else.

Also all the zombie sorcery levels in Thief 1 2 and 3.
