I just watched one of those videos- a terran vs terran video:

The voices don't seem good at all. They were badass in Starcraft whereas these are nothing special and neither are the quotes from what I have seen so far. I hope they don't do it like they did in Warcraft 3 where the voices and units seemed more childish whereas in Warcraft 2 the knights, footman, etc... were mean and spoke and looked like they were ready to rip your head off.

And what's with the SCV wearing a baseball cap?

If it's not broken, or needs updating, no need to fix it. Graphical engine is old and broke off.. Soundtrack and voicing from SC? Priceless.. This is all he was pointing out.
 
NWN2 kept the old voices for spells from NWN1 and that didnt turn out as good.
no, a new game needs to be better. it can use some of the old ones, but it has to enhance itself, or fall short. that the problem with a successful game, the sequel has to be better, or be written off as a failure.
 
Any chance ol Bill Roper is doing any of the voice overs? :D

FYI, Bill Roper did the voices for the humans and orcs in WarCraft, some in Diablo, StarCraft, etc. before he became VP of Blizzard.

And I said I agree so I am not sure why you are lecturing me. Blizzard does top-notch work all the time (IMO) so I have faith in the new ones. Maybe someone will even create a way to replace the new voices with the old.
 
Im sure the voice acting is temporary... game isnt done yet im sure they tweak the scripts all the time before they get the people in the studio to lock them down.

blizzard knows what they are doing

and your judging it off a youtube video of someone filming the screen... sound isnt the greatest... im sure in game it sounds better
 
I'm just hoping they re-hired Harry Shearer to voice the Science Vessel. If you don't know who that is ... he does Smithers, Mr. Burns, and a bunch of other characters on the Simpsons. :)
 
Whoa, I love the voices. Whoever thought of keeping the old voices and putting them into the new game, is a doofus, that just doesn't make any sense.
 
it's not even in beta yet. I bet when they go final from the sound booth they will have recorded thousands of variations and will choose accordingly as to how they want the game to be. I happen to like the WC3 voices. If you listen to the sayings some of them aren't so kid friendly.
Now comes the downfall of this game. No matter what blizz does it will fall short of expectations. It's already starting and it's barely alpha at this point.

I think the voices in WC3 are alright but looking at WC2- it had a darker and meaner atmosphere and it seemed like the units were always ready to kick ass. The heroes in the WC2 expansion were more badass than any others I have seen. I was expecting WC3 to have a similar kind atmosphere. The gameplay in WC3 makes up for it though since it is excellent.

As for SC2, yes it is still early but so far I don't like what they have done so far with the voices. The sounds are very good though.
