Does anyone else have a problem with it?

One of my first builds was a Hitachi drive in a P180B. I forgot to screw the drive cage back into the case when I picked it up. The cage slides out of the case and falls about six inches to the ground. Since I was a newbie I was wondering if the platters and everything inside had survived the fall (in actuallity they're usually designed well enough to withstand a five or six feet fall, as I found out on a friend of mines PC). Low and behold I find that the little "male" sata end on the drive had broken off inside the female cable. All of the contacts were dandy.

A little super glue later I've got the drive back up and running. Dr Spinright tells me my drives got perfect health. So the only thing lost from that 6" fall is a tiny bit of plastic.

I have since broken and repaired 3 more.

why dont they make these drives with sata connector that has a metal backing? Im tired of near-killing drives T,T

i think you need a better case if your cage flops about like a suicidal lemming....

I love sata cables and have nothing to complain about.. now that my pc is running 8HDDs (soon to be 10) plus 1 sata optical it horrifys me to think of using IDE cables for all that... i'd need a bigger case... my favorite sata cables are the ones that come with Gigabyte boards with the little metal clip to hold it in place

or would you rather go back to the days of bent pins all over the show?

Umm maybe you should stop breaking your drives? You know, actually screw in the hard drive cage? Or be a bit more careful?

I think the current SATA cables are fine. I like the Gigabyte sata cables as well. I think its jus you being clumsy.
