They used the offsets in order to make the fans ramp up faster for the X chips (at least thats what they say) the newer version of Ryzen master software i believe removes this from the reading. the one that does not require the HPET.

That's not what it says. :) As a result of your earlier post though, I checked with AMD direct and they said the offset is not changing.

They split the Tctl and Tdie into two separate readings on the 1700X/1800X. On the 1700 it's just one diode/temp. My motherboard seems to use the Tdie reading, which is the accurate temp for the fan.
I've had my head in this for a while since I just built an 1800X Node202 system. Recently downgraded to the 1700. My heatsink kinda sucks (Cryorig C7) and I couldn't keep the 1800X under 70C even on the desktop and in my bios anything over 70C put the fan at 100%. I thought about downclocking and undervolting my 1800X instead of downgrading but wanted to rid myself of that +20C ghost (after a while you don't know what temp to believe..) and it just-works now. I'm finally happy with this system.
 
Yeah i guess it is down to the motherboard, i know on my asrock the "Cpu" temps changed a few times with bios updates since i had to adjust my water cooler's fan curves. It is kinda annoying trying to figure it out
 
I guess I will bump this one.
I rigged my old Resorator 1 from Zalman on my ryzen 5 1400 and it idles @ 30 and never goes above 41.

I was trying to figure out if the zalman was cooling okay, apparently it's doing very well.
 
The temps are pretty good on ryzen at stock espically if you use a non x chip. The readings are just wacky with the X versions.
 
The X chips just have an offset. To somehow make the systems cool them better I am guessing - they read 20c higher.

I use the AMD Master tool to check temps and show it right.

19-30 c depending more on ambient temps then load from what I can tell.
 
When my Ryzen computer was working my stock 1800x was 74c with Ryzen master under max load with Keyshot. Back on my macbook pro for now.
 
What kind of cooler were you using?

That is 50c higher then my 1800x.
 
24c is 75f, not hard for ambient to get below that (though it would have to be near freezing for the cpu to be that cold, I guess, unless you have a really good cooler).
 
20c is 68f
30c is 86f

That describes the ambient in my computer room pretty well.

It is -or so I thought- a standard AM3 AIO cooler. (see my sig)

When I get home I'll look at the box and post it I guess.
 
My 8350 is Air Cooled and runs a bit higher. I can check if you wish.
 
When I think of it like that I am getting 6f above ambient with the zalman.
Should water be getting equal to ambient temps in a good loop?

6F above ambient at full load? I call BS ok that, regardless of what the motherboard reports. Either the offsets are wonky or you're looking at idle temp.
 
My 1800x @ 4.1 1.35V touches 41c using a Thermaltake 3.0 240 riing

This is using the Gigabyte's System Information Viewer


Futuremark says it hits 67C during stress testing

Just got around to this, I am using a Thermaltake Water 3.0 Ring RGB 240.

Just downloaded Prime95 and Aida64.

Is there an alternate way to check CPU temps?

I am currently running 1700x and the same cooler while waiting on my Threadripper parts to arrive. I get about 25 idle and max 40 under full load.

I use coretemp and have a -15c offset and its damn near spot on with what mobo bios reports.

Figured out for what? I was full custom looping my 1700x until I took everything apart to get ready for 1950x build. I'm going to order an Xspc or Ek block for my 1950x.

I have a 4x120 rad which is good for about a kw of cooling and I am going to run my 1950 and Asus Poseidon 1080ti on that rad. That will be only after I get a water block.

I am absolutely sick of blowing money on computer crap after this. I'm done lol.
 
You are never done. But TR was a big hit in the old wallet, I'm sure. Blocks should be out like Wednesday?
