I actually have myself a new project started since I just adopted a 12 year old server of unknown spec from a friend of mine. Haven't gotten too far into it yet since my friend neglected to give me either a working password to the Linux installation or the key to open the case. There's even a bios password so currently all I know is it's got 512mb of ram and a VGA card of some kind installed. I suppose I should expect all of this from someone who works at Ratheon.

I'm unsure exactly what to do with the machine when I get around to it but I do have a hell of a backlog of 16-bit games I'd love to be able to run without a virtual machine.

Another guy at our office has a Voodoo 6000; if I could get him to bet it in a poker game or something I'd be set. I suppose I'll need to dig through my OS CDs too and see what I still have. I think I have a Windows 98 Consumer Preview CD somewhere but I doubt I want to deal with a non-SE version, let alone the beta.

As far as graphics I'm thinking I might dig up a Riva 128, a Rage LT and a Voodoo3 since they were the first 3D accelerators I ever had. This is despite the fact that the Riva 128 and Rage LT would easily be in close running for the most rubbish 3D graphics ever, lol.

Either way this thing'll be a ton of fun if I can ever get around to retrieving the key and cracking it open.

if anyone is interested.. looks like a rare Spectra 2500 is on ebay

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Canopus-Spe...071?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item565458c097

43$ isn't bad for a rare find.. doesn't come with the witchdoctor cable but you can make your own pretty easy.

i've only seen 1 other go for sale on ebay in the last 8 months (i happened to snag mine last year)

I have a collection of Canopus videocards, of which a few Spectra 2500 and 3200's (with witchdoctor cables). I bought almost the entire collection on Taobao.com

I need to spend some more time in actually assembling some stuff and do some retrogaming. All I have had time for so far is buying and collecting. Last thing I bought (which I'm VERY proud and impressed of) is a mint boxed set Wicked3D Eyescream 3D glasses, the effect in Quake II on a Voodoo is amazing !!!

Oh nice. Yeah ive been on the look out for the wickeds. They can be tough because the glasses tended to go bad after a while.

Burlingame! I graduated Burlingame high school, lol.

I have a Voodoo 5000 I picked off ebay years ago and was thinking of building a retro rig. RePC here in Seattle would probably have some old mobos, CPUs, ram etc. I think I have my copy of 98se around here somewhere. I have an old Viewsonic 4:3 CRT. Be great for running old Glide games, Red Baron 3D, Diablo 2. I have Thief 2, Quake 2, Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale, Rune, Need For Speed Porsche Unleashed, Heavy Gear 2 and a bunch more.

Made some changes to the rig I posted a few months ago. The Obsidian I was running had clearance issues so I swapped it out for a classic Voodoo2 SLI setup, also swapped out my WinFast A380 Ultra for a reference FX5950 Ultra because the air intake on that card is directly in the air stream from the front of the case.

Oh yeah, the rig now resides in a Kingwin KT-424-BW I converted to inverted-ATX. Got this case specifically with Slot-2 Xeons in mind. Proved to be pretty easy to convert, just needed to cut the backplate of the case for the flipped motherboard tray, moved the support rails over and pop-riveted all that shit into place.

Got one more machine to revive. A coworker gave it to me, but it's missing the power cables. The chassis is in very nice condition. I hope it works!

It's an IBM PC XT 286.

Sweet an old Dos box

Bummer man.... but good luck on your auction.. I'm almost in the same boat. I have a lot of old PC stuff and wondering if it's time to downsize before the next move. :/

Oh man I really want to buy all of the stuff you have listed, BUT I live in Sweden and I'm not too happy about customs taking an absurd amount of money for old electronics like that. I once bought a 3,5" FDD for Commodore and had to pay around $70 for customs. Sickening.
