My buddy who bought an X570 board back in 2019 and dropped in a 5800X3D in 2022 would disagree ;)
I did the same thing 3900X with X570, upgraded to 5800X3D in 2022. System is still going strong, I figure I will have this system for several more years.

Yeah, double that.

It's about time someone "tough" showed up around here.

As for the topic, I think I'll stay at 7800x3d for now, but I am looking forward to a 9950X3D perhaps as a potential upgrade.

For once, AMD underrated the performance gains. HUB got 11% increase in their testing of 14 games.

from what I understand, the X3D chips aren't as memory-reliant. as long as the memory is 6GTs it should be fine.

Yep, Hardware Unboxed showed this with their review. Quasi low latency DDR5 6000 is all you need to get wi5hin 1-2% of its full potential.

The larger the cache, the less memory sensitive these cpus seem to be.

Those overclocking results from debauer were amazing. Easy 5.6hz and super low temps while delided...

It wasn't hard to get a 7800X3D at all and that CPU was even more hyped up than the 9800X3D since it was a bigger leap over a 7700X and 5800X3D. My local MC had over 200 in stock on it's launch day so I'm expecting the same thing for the 9800X3D.
What sucks is I just don't see this getting cheaper, at least as soon as 7800x3D did. I paid just over $350 for 7800x3D + Starfield Premium.

Without any real competition, that is.

Nice and all but as a 5600x owner I went with the 5700x. It looks like at 1440p it's around a 20% difference in 1% lows. Good, but $220 which included 32GB of Corsair ram, vs $1k I decided to go with the 5700x. Tempting though, love me some new goodies

Yeah. On one hand I want it now. On the other hand - I have X3D throughout my rigs. Better to wait for 9950X3D or a sale on 9800X3D but my dumb tech obsessed brain wants it now.

I'm going to buy one tomorrow. I have a 7800X3D(actually two of them) but I want the newness so it's gonna be mine!

Gonna see if I can snag one tomorrow. Should be a nice upgrade from my 5900X. STRIX X870-I is on the way, just need to get some DDR5 I think. Ncase M2 dual 280mm is the plan.

Looks like they're up on Newegg now.

....aaannnddd sold out in 2 minutes. They actually went live about 20 minutes ahead of the 6am PST time, strangely. Fortunately, I nabbed one in time.

They went orderable early, and were sold out by the 6am pst time when Newegg said they'd be available for order. They're still available on Amazon and AMD right now. I ordered from Newegg when they became orderable early, but Amazon would have saved me on the next day shipping. Oh well, I didn't want to take a chance by waiting.

ETA: out of stock on Amazon now also, same for AMD. They didn't last long.

Microcenter has them as well for in store pickup.
That's what I did. I'll be heading to pick it up in an hour. I'll probably lap it today, not sure if I'll install it though because I'm working and also want to do a clean Windows install with 24H2.

I'll be doing a new build with mine, upgrading from a 10900K system.

Is Windows 11 truly better than Windows 10 for gaming now, or better for AMD? Or, should I just stick with Win 10 for now and not deal with potential Win 11 headaches?

I've had zero problems with Windows 11 on several machines. Better than 10? Probably not any better for gaming but don't be afraid of it.

As already stated, M$ is ending windows 10 support next year- unless less you pay them $30/yr per PC (which is something new from them for the end user market).

Live on walmart though showing a digital item, probably a listing error and it's sold directly by walmart so I'm not too worried.

I have it, about to start lapping it. About 80 people showed up and stood in line. I only me and one other guy did the pre-order.
