I got my FT02 in (the non-window version) and it came with AP181 fans.

Here is a crappy phone pic of it on the floor:

Notice the fan coming off the heatsink. :p

Hey Tony, any chance we will see an all metal version of the RV03, would I guess could be a FT04? When is the RV03 coming out exactly?

How did you heavily modify it? It looks like it just fits right on top of the desk?

My red FT02 from back in May has a serial of 0986, which translates to something I don't get.

I shortened it with a circular saw by taking off about 10 inches or so. That way it was the right monitor height for eye level and the center speaker and receiver. Also, there was a bow on the back for aesthetic purposes that I cut flush so it would be tight against the wall.
For the main desk, all I did was drill some holes for cabling purposes.

Sorry, I should have taken pictures of that process, but I was just rushing to get done.

haha no worries, if you get the time to upload the pics of how you did the desk, that would be awesome. I really want that desk

Been lurking around forums for a few weeks now and this thread has convinced me to buy an ft02, so just got one a couple of days ago! it IS awesome!! Ordered from Amazon and it shipped with AP181's already. Not sure if the hard drive holders have been changed as I've seen some complaints earlier in the thread, but they were pretty solid and clicked into place nicely. They were unmovable. Cools well, and the noise level (or absence of) is superb. The top bay was tight but still useable, wasn't as bad as I thought. The space at the back was actually tight so had to be creative with the cable arrangement from my non-modular TX750. I used the clips someone suggested in this forum and it does make it much easier. It all worked out and am extremely happy with my new case!! great thread ;)

I just finished my new FT02 with red interior (#633 ;)).
Hard drive holders were much better than the flimsy ones on my old FT01. Cooling is great and finish and details are top quality. I use 4 hard drives, leaving the first slot open. I notice a great temp difference, as the first drive close to the open slot is 29 C and the others all are 38-39 C.
So, if you use less drives than me, leave on open space between them and remove the unused holders. This will improve hard drive temps a great deal.

It's nice to hear Amazon is shipping these with the AP181's installed. Which FT02 specifically did you get that came with the AP181's? I was going to buy a black one with no window, but I was going to hold out a bit longer to make sure I get the new fans. If you bought the black one with no window, I may make my purchase now.

Concerning the hard drive temps: I just remembered the tip in this thread to place an additional 120mm fan on top of the harddrives (blowing upwards). This reduced the temps to 33-34 C :)

I got the black with window. I actually sent a mail to silverstone to ask if there's a way to find out if there will be a way to know if they're shipping to Amazon with AP181's already. They said they will change the description. I haven't seen it change, but couldn't wait any longer so just went for it and I got one with AP181s!! And the fan wires come sleeved too. Except the top fan. Neat :)

Finished re-building my PC. Since I went Nvidia, I had to get a FT02 again to keep the GTX 480 cool.
Here is a mini work log of the build:

I may sleeve the PSU cables some time soon. The 180mm fan cables and switches are sleeved black from Silverstone. Good upgrade over the rainbow mess on the the original FT02.
Front panel cables are not sleeved.

Cooling Results:
I keep the AC pumping in my house so ambient temps are around 23C.
My CPU fans (Cooler Master Excalibur) are rated @ 2000rpm.

800D
CPU Idle/Load w/ H50: 42C/78C (1600rpm)
GPU Idle/Load w/ 5850CF OC: 43C @ 50% fan / 66C @ 65% fan (775/1100)
NB: 63C

FT02B-WRI
CPU Idle/Load w/ H50: 36C/72C (1600rpm)
GPU Idle/Load GTX 480: 39C @ 50% fan / 71c @ 65% fan
GPU Idle Load GTX 480 OC: 39C @ 50% fan / 89C @ 80% fan (850/1700/2050 @1.075v) Using Kombustor
During gaming the GTX 480 OC only gets up to 74C.
NB: 55C

You can see the 6c drop on the CPU idle temp and 7c drop on load temps.
Since I had different GPUs I couldn't do a direct comparison.
I think the GTX 480 is performing quite well in the FT02.
The OC guide I used to tweak the GTX 480 said I should be around 95C @ 100% fan during Kombustor.
Well I'm at 89C with 80% fan during Kombustor. This has to be because of the case.
This allows more OC room and less noise.

Thoughts on the FT02B-WRI.

It still has the short comings of the original and the red paint is super thin. You can see the small chips in the PSU close-up photo.
With that said, I would have to say this is the best version IMO. The fans really makes the extra cost worth it.
Newegg had 10% off case when I bought it so I only paid $233+10 shipping.

Looks goodie. I like :p

I just received my FT02 from Amazon, black with no window, and it has FM181 fans in it.

I've sent Silverstone an email asking about possibly getting these changed out for the AP181 since the fan specs on the page seem to more closely match the AP181s anyway. We'll see what they say. I was hoping since one person here got AP181s from Amazon they all were.

It's somewhat ridiculous that they can't tell us whether we'll get a case with these fans in it or not, imo.

I e-mailed them a couple months ago asking if future FT02s would have AP fans in them, and they said no, only the red limited edition FT02 will, and future models down the road.

Well, people are obviously getting non-limited edition FT02's with APs in them, so they obviously changed their minds.

Mine came from Amazon with AP181s but I got the black FT02 with a window. Sorry to hear the one without window still ships with FM181. I wonder though if you can get Amazon to get yours exchanged if they get the ones with AP181 in the next 30 days.

They probably are in the middle of the conversion and won't officially say they ship with APs until they're very sure they've run out of the ones with FM fans. I would have hoped they were able to track it by variant by customer to make it easier for us :D

I emailed Silverstone, not Amazon, since I'm sure Amazon has no idea which fans are in the boxes themselves (same reason if there's a "stealth" re-print of a DVD or Blu-Ray to fix something I go buy it in store rather than through Amazon, since you have to check SKU numbers or something else on the packagin to make sure you get the reprint).

Bop, in post #1766 got a windowless case with the AP181s, so I figure it's worth an email to see what they'll do - I'd happily send the current FM181s back in exchange, I have no use for them if they're not in the case.

I just bought an FT02-BW from my local computer store and it has the normal fans in it. This doesn't bother me though, since the AP fans make the cooling go from best in class to even better best in class.

Someone pointed out and took a pic on the OCN forums that the FT02/RV02s that come with the AP181s actually say Air Penetrator on the box.

Good to know for those buying local.

I just swapped my parts from my ATCS 840 to the FT02B. This case is amazing. It is very quiet, MUCH quieter than my 840, and my CPU temps went down 15 - 18 deg C.

Here is my build. Since my case has no window the wiring did not have to be perfect but I wanted to maximize the airflow so I kept it pretty neat but I did not do any additional sleeving. If you are wondering what is crammed between my video cards it is my Auzentech Bravura sound card. I mostly game and listen to music with headphones and this card is a great headphone sound card with a separate headphone amp and user replaceable opamps. This was my only useable PCIE slot so this is where it had to go. It is fairly short so it does not block the fans of the video cards. The top panel HD audio cable for this case is too short to route to the sound card properly so I had to run it over my video card. This makes me nuts but I cant find an extension cable anywhere.

This shows how nice the ST1500 power supply looks in this case. The finish is exactly the same and the cutout in the back of the case lines up exactly with the fan in the ST1500. I know this PS is way overkill for my current build but I have plans for it in the future.

I got a hot swap back plane for all of the hard drive slots. This was quite a spaghetti mess of wiring but I managed to hide it okay. This pic shows the hard drive cage with all of the sleds removed.

This shows my SATA cables. It was a challenge to manage 6 of these behind the mobo tray. I numbered the cables so I would know which back plane plugs into which SATA port. I also numbered my sleds so I know which drive goes in which slot. I have 2 raid 0 arrays so it is important.

I managed to mount my SSDs on the hard drive sleds so I could use the backplanes on them too. When the SSD was mounted in the tray that came with it it was slightly off and would not plug in. These pics show how I mounted the SSDs in the sleds that came with the case. In the pics it does not look like it would be very secure but they are actually very secure and pulling the drives and reinserting them works just fine.

The only real "mod" I did was painting my DVD drive. The drive was more of a charcoal gray than black so I picked up some Krylon Fusion, removed the faceplate, taped off the LED, and sprayed it. Now it matches almost exactly.

And by request a shot of the mess behind the motherboard tray. The hot swap backplanes added a lot to the mess. They were almost impossible to make neat but it is hidden so no big deal I guess.

Quite a nice build mumstead!
Any pix of the back side?

 ROFL? This kind of reads funny, thanks for the smile :) (Of course I knew what you meant, although upon second read.. I was like.. hey, that is quite funny in a different context. It reminded me of a scene from Dumb and Dumber).

All right I posted a picture of the mess. See my original post above.

Wire routing looks pretty good, probably better than mine and I have a few less wires behind the mobo tray, nice job.

It only reads funny to those with twisted minds  ;) :p

Hey guys made a thread on here looking for suggestions on a very good air cooling case and was directed to the FT02 thinking about picking it up but I'm getting very mixed signals, some people say its the best, some people say the HAF-X performs better, of course I don't expect it to please everyone but I'm currently using a CM690 with 7 120mm fans and it just runs way too hot for me (I'm 99% sure the fans are too weak, they're just the standard 2$ blue LED fans from coolermaster)

My setup is an i7 930 @ 4ghz , want to take it to 4.2 but the temps just take a huge jump from 70-72 max at load to 90+ when at 4.2 (low volts too)

I also use 2 460's in SLi I get about 50 gpu 1 37gpu 2 idle and about 60-70 both cards at load

Will switching to this case net me better temps? That's what I'm looking for. Noise doesnt bother me, I don't stare at my computer but rather my monitor so I don't care about looks either :p I'm very interested in the FT02 I'd just hate to spend money and it not offer any real benefit..

Let me know if you need other information to help me :)

Here's a link with temps. :)

Concerning the hard drive temps: I just remembered the tip in this thread to place an additional 120mm fan on top of the harddrives (blowing upwards). This reduced the temps to 33-34 C :)

The same effect might be accomplished by adding an extension from the fan to HD cage to trap and force the airflow through the cage, though it would be tricky with the stock FN fan without the integrated guard. The fan is possibly low enough in pressure that this would be ineffective but a long strip of cardboard bent in a square is all you would need to test.
