One thing modern game controllers "have" that KBM "have not" are analog movement (specifically the left analog stick functionality). Even if you can get a game to support something like a Wooting One, it's still not the same thing. And all the gaming keypads with analog thumbsticks I've tried are really awkward to use for movement.Controllers are never better in terms of aiming speed...but they can certainly be more straightforward and simply easier to use. I'd rather use a controller for literally everything except twitch shooters and RTS games.
Boy, turning up the resolution scale and MSAA totally transforms the graphics. Looks like a totally different game.
Sharpens up all the foliage and clears up the god awful muddy textures. TAA is to blame for most of that, tho.
Silly question, anybody know if there's a way to shoulder your rifle/shotguns instead of just carrying them in your left hand? It looks really dumb.
They start on your back, but then if you draw them, your character holds them in his left hand when you holster.

on second thought... forgot to update to Bios micro code 1004... I’ll try that
Yeah, you'll be playing the launcher failed to initialize game until you update your bios.
God forbid Rockstar capitulate and remove the DRM crap from the launcher causing this issue and just letting people play the game they purchased.
must really suck for the people who aren’t able to update yet... hopefully Rockstar gets this fixed soon.
That's what I get for getting an X470 board and not a B450 board. I paid more money for worse support from MSI. MSI states that the updated BIOS's for the X470 boards won't be out until the end of the month. So if rockstar doesn't help us out, we're pretty much unable to play the game for a month.
Well, looks like I complained enough, my boards updated bios was just posted. Praise be.
PG27UQ, using Game mode with peak brightness set to 900 and paper white set to 80. They got rid of the brightness cap from cinematic mode, but the problem is that they're still applying both an SDR gamma ramp and warmth mask to the image. So instead of having localized bright spots you get an image that makes the surrounding environment overly bright. This video goes into depth explaining the problem.
Keyboard and mouse for every game that requires free aiming, no exceptions. There is literally no difference between first person aiming and third person aiming, so I don't understand why people believe a controller would be better for the latter.
what is it about Ryzen that’s causing the issue and requires 1004?
Arm or anyone else know why I can only run HDR using the Vulkan API? I heard DX12 runs a little smoother and I enabled it and restarted even rebooted my PC. But with DX12, The HDR tabs are gone in the display settings? Kinda odd. Restoring Vulkan and the HDR tabs return? i'm not stupid right thinking that DX12 has to support HDR or is it because I don't have HDR enabled in Windows 10??
No clue as AMD hasn't made any comments, probably because they fixed the bug with the 1004 microcode update already, it's just motherboard vendors that take a while to integrate it into an actual BIOS package.
But if you are running a Zen CPU and are on the 1003 AEGSA the launcher while crash, period. So either you've got to roll back if possible, or hope you have a 1004 BIOS available.
I just played through the entire intro without any issues, so it was absolutely the BIOS problem for me.
Runs and looks great on my 3900x/2080ti system @ 4k HDR.
^ I figured it out. Select "Unarmed" as your weapon and you'll put the gun away. If you have a gun in your hand you have to tap it twice.Silly question, anybody know if there's a way to shoulder your rifle/shotguns instead of just carrying them in your left hand? It looks really dumb.

Here are two screens showing just how bad TAA looks at 1080p. It smudges the entire picture, especially while moving (notice I am walking in these photos).

And here's with 1.5x res scale + 4x MSAA, everything looks clear and sharp.

I would argue that analog movement adds more to the immersion.
Even the analog triggers on a gamepad add to the immersion of any game that lets you "squeeze the trigger". A light squeeze to turn on a gun's laser sight? That shit is the bomb.
Certainly, I prefer a mouse for aiming compared to right analog stick. So they both have their pros and cons.
Microsoft is enforcing a new standard in DX12 that requires the HDR setting in the Windows Display Settings to be enabled. It's the same way in Gears 5 and Modern Warfare. It actually has solved the issue I would sometimes get of a game just refusing to go into HDR. I've even had a Microsoft game (Horizon 4) simply toggle the global HDR setting instead of checking its state, resulting in the option I had enabled being disabled when the game started.Arm or anyone else know why I can only run HDR using the Vulkan API? yup ive played plenty in "hybrid" mode. controller in one hand, mouse in other. This is why controller and mouse is a thing.
All non HT cpus have stuttering issues at the moment. Including the 9700K, even the old 2600K has better mins.
Similar issue happened in far cry 5.
I have a 9600K machine 5Ghz was excited to try RDR2 out on.... until I watched this new video. Damn the 4-6 C/T cpu's get hit hard, but I guess maybe? that's to be expected since the game was built around consoles with 8 cores. I still have to install the BIOS update on my 3700x rig, I'll get around to it tonight.
Watch Dogs 2 was the start of making quad cores irrelevant, it lead me to moving to Ryzen... I picked up a 1600 and dumped as soon as 2700xs came down in price.
I don't want to sound mean but.. Severe lack of reading comprehension here.Knowing this game was coming out, and the trend of consoles in general, is why I went 3900x and not Intel this time around. The core counts are going to matter more and more.

Just to clear this up, at 1080p, "2.00" res scale in the game is equal to 4K (I checked) so it's both dimensions, ie: twice the X and twice the Y resolution.I may have to try this.
However, can someone enlighten me on why even do this?
What's the real benefit if you have a 1440p monitor versus increased res scale on a 1080p?
It would be the same performance, no?
I read what you said just fine, you quoted far cry 5, but it's been like this for years.I don't want to sound mean but.. Severe lack of reading comprehension here.
