Awwww! Isn’t today’s random [H] sighting just the cutest thing you’ve ever seen? It looks like mom and dad are starting her early too! Thanks to [H] forum member “T4rd” for the absolutely adorable pics.

It's an [H] baby....you expected anything LESS? We're lucky his wife decided against letting him water cool the baby. :D

haha, na, i was actually disspointed that it's only 3 screens. Come'on, this is [H]ard. You can do better than that ;)

My brother just had a baby last week. I think he would *kill* me if I tried something like this lol

He actually told me that he would appreciate it if I did not influence the baby in getting into computers. He wants his son to be a sports nut like him.

OT: That's awesome T4rd. Congrats on your baby!

I love the onesie. I will have to get my friend to screen art some onesie for all the [H]ard dads and moms.

Lol, that would be sweet! :D

Thanks for all the comments, guys! :)

T4rd by doing such attivities with your daughter you are ensuring that she will be a myspace/facebook/twitter/slash wrists emo chick when she grows up. :p

So we all are that way Lebowski? :p I'd like to think he's pushing her towards the better side of computing. :D

Sorry, when the new 6-port eyefinity cards come out, she can have 6 monitors! :D

Awesome pix T4rd ;D Good luck with the contest!

Remind your brother that evolution is a natural process and you're not going to stand back and allow him to hinder that.:D

I just rolled my eyes at him. He's a jock type and he's all about watching sports on television. Before Vista I was over at his house almost every week fixing his computer he'd constantly virused.

As Ray Finkle's father said in Ace Ventura, the engine's running but nobody's home.

Very cute and most definately [H]ard, but not sure the EMF from those screens would be doing the baby any favors if they were there constantly.

About what exactly? EMF being detrimental to health and development? Please elaborate.
There haven't been any conclusive studies showing that electromagnetic radiation is actually capable of causing significant harm to human beings. And if that was the case, the amount of radiation just floating around in the air from all kinds of other devices like wi-fi routers, cell phones, cordless phones, radios, etc. would be far more significant than the tiny amount produced by EMI-shielded LCD monitors.

Yeah, valid points. I didnt really factor in that the LCDs are EMI shielded. You're right about there not being any conclusive studies about EMF causing health issues but that certainly doesn't mean that there is not.

I know quite a few people that are "EMF sensitive" that have issues such as prickling skin, irritability and unease when around EMF emitting devices, one of the most common being WIFI. There is also plenty of evidence to suggest EMF could be detrimental. I would prefer to err on the side of caution and avoid as much unnecessary exposure as possible, especially where a growing infant is concerned.

Notice how land value is very low close to power lines? There is a good reason for this, and yes, you could argue that house hold electronic devices have no where near as much EMF as said power lines, but there is also currently no set "safe level" for EMF.

Remember back when people thought asbestos was safe? When lead paint was commonly used on things such as childrens toys and was not considered to be a threat? When neuro toxic mercury was used in dental fillings (oh wait, they still do this)...

EMF pollution was not considered much of a problem say 20 years ago but in modern day society it is becoming more abundant and concentrated. Since it is still very early, we don't have any way of measuring how much damage it is causing if any.

Personally, I avoid it as much as possible. I always keep my cellphone on my desk or somewhere away from my body and try to use speaker phone as much as possible. Call me insane if you wish, but as a precaution, I'd rather be safe than find out I have a brain tumor the size of a small dog 20-30 years down the road from constant EMF radiation straight to the brain.

Call me insane if you wish
Okay, you're insane ;). Anyway, I'm not going to have this discussion here. All I will say is that any concerns about EMI are largely unfounded, and there is no evidence at the moment to indicate that it is a serious problem.

I understand not wanting to get into a large discussion about this as really there is no end to the argument. Sure, there is a lot of fear mongering and untruths out there about EMF but there is also too much evidence pointing at EMF for me to dismiss it as being completely harmless.

The effect of EMFs on biological tissue remains controversial. Virtually all scientists agree that more research is necessary to determine safe or dangerous levels. What they do know is that iron, which is necessary for healthy blood and is stored in the brain, is highly affected by EMFs. The permeability of the cell membranes of nerves, blood vessels, skin and other organs is also affected, as well as the intricate DNA of the chromosomes. Every bodily biochemical process involves precisely choreographed movement of EMF sensitive atoms, molecules, and ions.

LOL, EMF..? Really?? Regardless, she was only in the crib with those for about 5 mins to take the pics, so I don't think there's any cause to worry, hah.

We're [H], we gotta cover all the bases...:)

damn it... you caught me.

That's a complete crackpot article. I especially love this part:
Since microwave radiation has been known to cause cataracts, birth defects, cancer and other serious illnesses, you don't want to stand in front of or close to a microwave in operation. Once you start thinking about the hazards of microwaving foods, you may find that you can heat food in a toaster oven almost as quickly. You might also want to think about that "frankenfood" you are creating in your microwave by the rearrangement of its molecular structure.
First of all, microwave ovens are completely shielded. This isn't difficult to do, because since microwave ovens use a wavelength of around 10cm, so the manufacturer only needs to make sure that there are no openings that large in the microwave compartment when it is active (which is why all ovens have a metal mesh behind the window). It is completely harmless to stand next to a microwave oven.

Also, there is no "rearranging" of the molecular structure of the food. Essentially what happens is that certain molecules within the food absorb the energy from microwaves and start to spin, which releases heat. The only thing that happens is that the food absorbs energy. It isn't transformed into some kind of "frankenfood".

There are other errors in the so-called "science" stated there, but that's the most egregious example I saw. Based on that, I wouldn't trust anything written there.

Anyway, this is getting way off-topic, so I'm not going to comment on it any more. Suffice it to say that people should take some basic physics classes before they make stuff like this up and presume to know what they are talking about.

Well, the microwave generator needs to be shielded, too! (they are)

But you are right, Zero82z, it is safe (doesn't mean I will do it, lol).
