Yes, and I'm on my hands and knees thanking any and all "gaming gods" for this. The newer Hitman games are masterpieces and I'm glad they escaped Square Enix before the curse that's apparently killed or seriously damaged Deus Ex, Tomb Raider, and now Just Cause had hit those. It's unbelievable.

I know WB, their new publishers, also have their own issues and all but overall they are in a much better place. I really wish people would come back to these games. I know Absolution left a bad taste but that's ancient history. Come home Hitman fans! ;)

As for Rage 2? It really looks great. It looks like a lot of fun. For FPS's and such, that and the new Obsidian title are right up on my radar in big ways.

Not too worried about it myself. Hopefully id won't let it out the door if it's not in good shape. It's got their name on it.

Great! So it'll be on sale within the first three months!

Unlike many users that had problems, Rage ran great for me. I might reinstall it and play through it again before the new one comes out in May.

Ran great for me too. Actually, I had an ATI card in my main system at the time, and on release day it was in fact as broken as it was for everyone else. However, I popped in a 460 or 560 (whatever the new x60 Nvidia card was at the time) and it was flawless. Then of course they patched it up, and it was fine. You could FORCE the texture streaming to pop a bit with some wild mouse swinging, but the game looked great under real playing conditions. I've played it quite a bit over the years. The bigger of the DLCs was pretty fun too.

Title is wrong, should be "appears to be skipping Steam". It's not not listed on Steam yet, and Bethesda hasn't confirmed anything. So it's still unknown but less likely.

I think looking at Fallout 76 it's clear what direction Bethesda is going in...it may not be official yet but I'm fairly confident RAGE 2 will not be on Steam (at least at launch)

Bethesda Launcher... people correct me if I'm wrong here...but what I've gathered has a LOT of issues before we even get into the usual "lost exposure sales not being on Steam" talking point which is perfectly valid.

I can see doing some temporary exclusive situations and I understand everyone shouldn't have to bend their knee to Valve and pay x percentage towards them and the rest of it but this thing with everyone getting their own clients is just getting goofy. There needs to be some kind of middle ground.

I mean, you can't really blame a big publisher for not wanting to use Steam and loosing that huge cut to Valve. The reality is that publisher specific launchers are just the natural course.

Honestly, if it doesn't take up much overhead, I don't really care. It's only if they roll out something as bad as Origin or Ubi's thing were at launch I'll not buy until they get it worked out...

skipping a potentially good game just because it uses a separate launcher seems insane...no launcher can be that bad where you avoid a game because of it...worst case scenario just uninstall it after finishing the game

I act tough, but I’ll end up buying it. :D

I just hate the trend. Maybe it’s OCD, but I like my games all in one spot. I do have a bunch on GOG, but that one is so transparent, that I was ok with it.

I do get why publishers want to do this, but having a launcher and credentials for every publisher is kinda stupid.

I don't like the practice either but I'm not going to let it stop me from buying a game...there have been a handful of launchers I've only used once and ended up uninstalling afterwards (Battle.net, I used the Bethesda launcher while trying out Elder Scrolls Online)...plus I reformat my drive every 6 months or so which makes it even less of a deal

it's the same as downloading a beta or demo of a game...you play it and then uninstall it

I'm not sure it's the client itself that's the issue...it's the games they are releasing on it which are buggy as hell

Been using the Bethesda launcher for over a year now with quake champions, not had a single issue with it, I do know there was an issue with the fallout 76 beta uninstall not working.

My issue with these newcomers is their terms of service. Bethesda's isn't very robust and Epic's has several problems with the GDPR, with both possibly running into legal issues in the near future. As soon as the legal challenges are worked out and the TOS are fully fleshed out I'll be more than happy to jump into both.

Why are launchers needed... as far as I'm concerned, they are the AOL of gaming

I have 330+ games in Steam. Maybe 70 in GOG. 3-4 in Origin. I don't launch Origin ever. I hate it, but I did want to play Mirror's Edge 2 and Mass Effect 3. GOG is kind of different. I don't use it much, but it contains a lot of my "old favorite" games from the DOS and early Windows eras. Steam is a focal point of my house. It's available in every room of the house either on a PC or via a streaming box of some kind. (Steam Link or Shield TV) 90% of my gaming is done via Steam. (the rest on a Wii-U and eventually a Switch) It just feels weird to use other launchers. It's incoherent, clunky and tacky. I use Steam because of what they did for PC Gaming. It really consolidated the platform, and that's why I bought into it so heavily. I'm fine with the competition aspect of other store-fronts and launchers, but the idea of exclusivity to other ones makes me want to vomit.

Just preorderd this game comes out in May. First game I ever ordered off Bethesda I can't
believe the amount of people who just want every title on Steam like it's the Holy Grail of Launchers.
I like Rage 1 almost finished it but lost my save in a format twice so I gave up.

In this case it's just me having little to no confidence in Bethesda, their launcher, and support more than anything else.

Rage 2 is definitely on my radar.

Yeah... Me too actually. :D I already have a Bethesda account, (no games attached) so I'll probably cave in. It's nice to pretend that I won't though in the meantime. :p

If it's a dev I trust I'll grab something early if it's an introductory price. On Steam though. I'll wait until this is fully released since they seem to be ditching Steam. I have no history with Bethesda's launcher, and while I trust id Software almost implicitly, I don't think I've ever played an Avalanche game, and I hear mixed things about their engines on release. (though positive game experiences overall usually) I definitely want RAGE 2, but I'll grab it release day or the day after once a little feedback is in. I'm honestly not too worried. I don't think id is fully hands-off with most of their co-developed games, and I've enjoyed all of the past ones, even when some people haven't. I think this game is going to be great.

Rage 2 looks so fucking good. But, after the FO76 fiasco....No more pre-ordering Bethesda games.

I don't mind the Bethesda laucnher, I just don't want to be fucked over again from Bethesda. Bioware, Dice, Bethesda....all the good companies are going to shit.

It's not a Bethesda/Bethsoft game. It's id/Avalanche. That may or may not make a difference to you, but I thought I'd point it out. Different studios, different people, different engines.

That said, I've heard questionable things about Avalanche's engines upon releases. Hopefully though with id's influence, that will be minimal with RAGE 2.

Edit: Reading up a bit more before making the rest of this post.

The first game was a neat idea that they just couldn't properly flesh out. I liked the setting and premise. I'm hopeful this game will be what the first game wished it could be.
Definitely not pre-ordering or anything like that, though.

Cool they seem more humble this time around... they've been wanting to do open-world since Doom & Quake, so if Rage 2 is successful maybe they'll start working on a their metaverse idea using carmack's VR contributions and romero's more recent level designs (as a base) and sorta come full circle... damn it I just want a happy ending or sequal to Masters of Doom... a good game is also welcome though :)
