Single core 4 life!!!!! Single core is clearly superior to any other amount of cores. Its kinda like golf, the lower the number the better you score.... in 3Dmark 06!!!!

i jumped from an Athlon XP running at 2.2ghz with a geforce 3 to my current wolfdale running at 3.2ghz with an HD4850 :)

edit: tho my biggest ever jump will forever be my 486DX @ 33mhz to Pentium 2 @ 450mhz back when i was a kid and was at the mercy of my parents to buy my computer hardware :)
 
My last jump was from P4 1.3 GHz (single core) bought in 2001 to a Q9550 2.83 GHz bought in 2008 (obviously stock numbers, not OC). I suppose you could say things got a bit faster.

Programs don't need to be designed for more than 2 cores in order to use 4 cores. Either the OS or the motherboard or both divides up the work for you. If you don't believe me, go on a quad core computer, open the task manager, keep it where you can see it, and make the computer do something. You'll see all 4 cores working, almost every time the CPU has to work, regardless of what program you're using, even simple things like opening browsers.

Sorry about being so serious in this thread; maybe I should be talking about buttsecks or something like that instead.
 
My favorite part of having a quad is arguing why its so much better than a dual to all the people with duals @ xtreme clocks. If I had a dual overclocked to 4GHz, I would def. argue the other way, too :)
