I have a q6600 and an ABIT IP35-E motherboard and currently have a corsair 520HX power supply. Right now I am only using an 8800gt and so I think I am well within the limits of my power supply however I may want to upgrade to a 4870x2 in the future and so I was wondering if anyone would know if my power supply would still be able to handle my future set up?

Yes, the Corsair 520HX is more than capable of powering your rig with the HD4870X2

The Corsair 520HX has 40A across the 12V+ rails. I believe you should be fine. :D

yeap but the it is a NOT a single rail 40A. IT WILL NOT handle the 4870X2 8pin PCIe connector since it has a max 18A cap on any single rail.

I have an HX620w from Corsair and it used to run my 8800gt+E4300 just fine until i decided to improve airflow with 4 120mm fans:(

can you believe that this 620w PSU simply can NOT handle the 4x3A because it caused the PCIe 6 pin to fail?:mad:

Go for silverstone 750w single rail solutions.

OK, The Corsair 620HX and 520HX ARE single rail designs. If you read any decent review of them, you'll see that they are in fact single-rail designs.
