I really shouldn't post this pic since the front won't look anything like this when it is done, but oh well, here it is anyways.

Egg said:The project seems to be pretty cool. I like the way you used the mesh.
How long is that handle gonna stick, or are you not going to use it much anyway..
brasherman said:Umm, reading the thread may help.... Just a recommendation though......![]()
Egg said:yeah, u guys are really cool. Couldn't really compete with that...
can I touch you?
SarverSystems said:Also, I agree about the molding on the drive. I knew it was going to be impossible to get it to line up perfectly at the joint because it is on a curve.
That;s why I lined up the joint on the center of the outside curve. The outside curve helps keep the ends pressed together (since the loding wants to straighten itself out), and it is now hidden by the lid.

SarverSystems said:Sorry for the lack of updates in the last few days.
I got the new Shuttle faceplate in, damn Ebay seller took a week just to ship it!
Right now I am in the process of wiring up all the LEDs. Man, what a bear! I hope I never have to take this thing apart again!
I'd post pics, but there isn't really anything to take pcis of yet.
Once I get the thing put back together, you'll see some pics. Hopefully they will the "FINISHED" pics.
WarlordOne said:Window mod turned out nice but without plexi it's gonna be loud as hell... looks good though.
aznpxdd said:Can't wait to see the finished pics.
cornelious0_0 said:It's not going to be "loud as hell" just because it's completley open...if there's only 1 or 2 fans in the entire setup and the fans are all/both fairly quiet, then nothing changes...it's not like the mesh amplifies the noise or anything, it's just not AS quiet as it would be with a close case.
WarlordOne said:Who's talking about the fans? I've window modded a optical drive and in an open case, it's loud as hell. Piece of plexi over it and it's much quieter. Good thing is it won't be loud when you're not using the drive...
...and the case won't be loud due to the fans....
brasherman said:AFAIK, if you want to remotely locate the LED, just unsolder the LED, solder in some wire and run it out the back to a fan connector or something for ease of removal. It would be even cooler if you were to have the blue LED's light up with CDROM activity! Just reroute the internal power to the other LEDs you want to install.![]()
GoFastNova said:the fan controlled doesnt look that bad at all to be honest... i still dont care for the colors used in this mod, but to each his or her own.. craftmanship is great though!
SarverSystems said:The blue/silver theme was decided upon before I had even seen the Shuttle.
SarverSystems said:Personally, I would've done all dark metallic purple (search for Purple Monster) on the outside, with a gold metallic on the inside.
SarverSystems said:After reading some of the comments about the drive being hella-noisy once modded, I decided to fire it up and make sure. To my amazement, it wasn't any noisier than it was originally. So THERE!
I'm not arguing and I am sorry since I've offended you.SarverSystems said:First of all, why are you arguing with me?...I take offense to the fact that you are calling me a liar.
It's not like you did a dB check before and after; you're stating that you've percieved no change. There is no accuracy in that.SarverSystems said:Second of all, why would I lie about it? If the drive was noisier, I would say it was. I have no reason to lie.
SarverSystems said:Back on topic though, I have some time this weekend to work on it some more, hopefully finishing it up.
All that is left to do is the finish wiring. Wire up the LEDs, the drives, and the power connectors. None of whish will take much time at all to complete.
SarverSystems said:It woulda been done by now, but this mod takes a abckseat to my regular computer repair business. Potcock knows that, and told me "as long as it is done before the next LAN". Well, a LAN hasn't been scheduled yet, so we're good to go! Ha ha ha.
