So far what i have planned out is

PSU template, so it sits horizontally
Cut out grills for fans
120mm blow holes
window (maybe a top one too)
LCD

O btw, keep in mind, i may not have too many updates very often (i think) because ive got alot of homework and stuff :waah:

Anyways, my PSU came in, fortron blue storm ax500-a YAY :D

Box

Whats in the box?

fan
psufan9ju.jpg

Now my psu holder. Originally i was going to use 2 power supplies, and i easily can but its too much of a hassle and i dont need it, i may just put a 120mm fan where the 2nd psu would go

So here goes, template all cut out, look at the back of my case for how it looked originally, i also was polishing the edges with the wire brush attachment for my dremel and i tried it on the piece and it started to polish it so i was like crap, but i just had to finish the whole thing then (i dunno why i did it) but it turned out OK

holderonbed6ou.jpg

In case
incase0na.jpg

Psu in the case, woops backwards, the fan is pointing up :wallbash: :duh:
psuinholderbottom3xx.jpg

side view
psuinholderbottomside5ta.jpg

i can put it on top with the fan pointing down
psuontop7os.jpg

but i can only use 3 screws
psuontopback9rl.jpg

anyways good news about that, the fan blows air, it doesnt suck air and out of the case, but sucks in air into the case and blows it, so now i have it point up so the hot air will just go right out, if i put a blow hole there

and umm heres my dog, i wanted to take a pic of him and my other dog in the case, to show how HUGE it is but hehe whatever

bugsy3za.jpg

o and i cut the 2 back grills, and 1 of the 3 grills in the front (pic was taken before the front grill was cut)

I wanted to cut out the rest today but too much hw :waah:

backgrills5eg.jpg

Anyways, more updates whenever i get the chance (hopefully tomorow i can cut the rest of the grills and maybe a blow hole, i wish i had a 120mm fan at hand :( )

I cant decide on a window design, can you all look at my topic in the modding section?

Like i said above, i probly wont have too many updates to often

*Update*

KK I cut the last 2 fan grills on wedsday i think

front4go.jpg

that hole, i made today its for my front usb/headphone ports

I cut my usb and firewire pci attachment that came with my mobo and added my own headphone port i wired up

headphoneaddon1tm.jpg

Here it is mounted
frontusbandphoneoncase8vr.jpg

and here is the front view
upclose8yt.jpg

Now i feel really stupid, because it took me from 5 PM to 10 PM to do that. I feel stupid because i screwed up when drill the mounting hole so the thing wanst flush with the case, if i had just drilled a second hole to remount it then i could have saved my self 5 hours and i ended up doing it anyways, so it looks kinda crappy

Anyways.....I started to cut the "mobo hole" today so i can route/hide my wires easier

mobotrayhole4et.jpg

Last night i ordered 2 120mm Deltas, with 130cfm :) and 3 120mm fan grills for 12.63 or something

Also today i went to home depot and picked up some stuff
homedepotstuff5xx.jpg

*a 24x24 (or bigger, i forgot the EXACT size) sheet of acrylic
*an 11x24 i think, sheet of acrylic
*wire brush dremel attachment
*5 reenforced dremel cut off discs
*1/8, 7/64 and a 3/32 titanium metal cutting drill bits (YAYA) btw which size drill bit is used for fan screws and case screws? plz tell me i got the right size
*some washers
*2 10 packs of bolts and nuts, couldnt find pop rivets or other screws but thisll work for my window
*2 head duty handles that fold, i was gonna get the garage door handles, but there so ugly and i want foldable handles
*bi-metal jig saw blades

heres my HD reciept
hdreciept5zy.jpg

heh, there goes the rest of my x-mas money and like 2 months of saving my allowance

and i also went to walmart and got
walmartstuff2tr.jpg

*Masking tape
*velcro with adhesive backs
*2 barbeque grill things, its my mesh!!

thats all for now, tomorow i HOPE to finish cutting the mobo hole, and cut the thing that sits above my mobo tray and beneath the psu

Man i need a window design

*Update*

KK, well for my handles i needed some bolts and nts so i went to walmart and picked up a bunch of stuff, all cheaper than at homedepot, so no more HD for me Walmart ALL THE WAY!!

anyways i got my mobo hole cut

mobotrayholecut9dy.jpg

mobotrayholefront7ud.jpg

what pisses me off is that i left my room, and when i came back my dad was there cutting the hole. He finished off one of the sides i was on and started on the next side. WTF its my f**kin mod, why doesnt he go and get his own frickin case, dammit i hate when he starts cutting my stuff, after a while its no longer gonna be MY mod, but me and my dads mod WTF, i was so mad i through a table hahah (not at him :D )

and i finally cut the thing that seperates the mobo tray and the psu! its taken me two weeks to finally go and cut that thing dang
moboseperator1iz.jpg

moboseperatorinside8tv.jpg

Ok well now all the basic ESSENTIAL mods are done (mobo hole for routing my wires, mobo seperator, fan grills cut, front usb/headphones) its time to start doing my real mods

*Blow holes
*handle mounting
*window
*mounting LCD
*meshing the front bezel

K thats probly the last update until the weekend (hopefully not) but ya school is a biatch :(

still need a window design

My dad is the same way, it's really anoying, I might be working on a little project (making a rc boat or whateva) and come downstairs to ask for like a dremel or something, hell ask what for, Ill tell him , hell tell me how I am going to mak it, I sa no I wanna amke it this way, hlll then tell me to bring my supplies down, alot of times it becaomse something I really didnt want, and I just get pissed of at him...

dads...

hehe ya, whenever i cut something my dad explains how the edges are sharp and stuff, im like DUDE IM NOT A DUMBASS!

Dont forget to sand those edges down. They do look sharp ;)

What theme do you want for your case? that always helps
when planning window designs :)

lol they are snaded down and polished with a wirebrush, some spots are kinda sharp but not enough to cut u

its just the shine from the wire brush attachment that gives it the sharp look, im gonna cut up a cord or something or get some molding (do they sell it at walmart?) and put it around the edges after i paint the insides

and nah i dont have a theme, i wish i did though

*UPDATE*

Kk i got my new 120mm fans and grills

the fans are 120mm Deltas 130cfm

o btw I NEED A WINDOW!!!!!

*UPDATE*

Ok well i moved my psu holder thing

Upclose, i had to drill a hole to move it down, so it dont block my psu fan

Heres a draw up of the handle and blow hole positions

Handles installed

Woot handles work

Half of a blow hole

WOOT first blow hole is cut!

Both blow holes cut

Fans and grills and handles mounted

Inside the case

woot upclose!

pretty dam good job for my first blow holes!

OO, heres some stuff plugged into my front ports

Ok now i decided to put my psx controller to usb adapter built into the case, can i change the external port into a internal port?

Heres the adapter and my cut out drawing

heres how i mounted it, had to drill some holes in the adapter

and on the inside

Heres the hole

Pretty bezel

WOOT what u know about that

Ok anybody have an idea how i can cover this?

I cut the hole before i mounted it so i started too low, im thinking of putting a rubber cover over it (like those on cell phones that cover the headset port and the charger port) or a acrylic door but i dunno how to make it!!!!!!!! ahhhhh

thats all for today i think

Well since your PSU is called blue storm why don't you make your theme The Blue Storm and cut like a tornado or something to that matter in your glass. Just shooting some ideas. And about your dad trying to help you don't you think that he is just trying to spend sometime with you and that is the only door he found to do so. Think about that ;)

By the way good work, keep it up!

well im kinda not there, when he cuts, i leave the room and he just starts messing with it

Ya thats the molding im looking for but i cant really buy online, does walmart have anything?

Hey thats a nice idea for the blue storm only thing is, my case is silver (dont wanna paint it blue since, my raidmax scorpio is blue) and this

case6.jpg

case22.jpg

some dude from OCforums did that

Ok I understand now. You are like me I guess, "unless am there don't touch anything".

Well back to the case, you don't have to paint it blue but what if you add some other desing, you know maybe painted, related to the theme without painting the whole case. Maybe like some lighting and some wind and a cloud, I don't know something like that. If I think of something else I'll let you know. Hey, ask you dad for his opinion ;) he migth suggest something good. :D

well i suck at painting and i dont wanna pay someone to paint for me

my dad just said to take the square acrlyic off my raidmax lol

gah i dunno how to cover it up, i have a lil lego door but it wouldnt work as i want it to work

*UPDATE*

Ok well i made my ghetto psx adapter cover thing, held on by a cable tie, and made of a mouse pad and some carpet LOL

I painted it silver, but i havent got any pics of it yet

anyways, made a hole for the heatsink, so ill put a fan on the other side panel

And i cut my front bezel up WOOT!

i went all over it was fun, but it took me about 4 hours to cut it all out

FINALLY!

If your wondering why i left those things, youll see

hmmmmmmmmmm why did i cut out the bezel crap again? o ya!!

thats my pimping walmart grill mesh crap WOOT! and if you havent noticed, i left those things to mount the lcd.

Tomorow im gonna paint the grill blue woohoO! i MAY also do my window, if i can think of something to do that is

thatz all for now

OK i think i may have gotten a window, what ya think?

dragonwindow5et.jpg

Hows it look? I good do the dragon on the top side, or i can do the 2 rounded rectangle windows on both side panels so you can see right through the case, and the dragon on the middle/bottom of the right side (the side where u see the back of the mobo)

ya so either like in the pic, or the 2 round/rectangles on both side panels and the dragon on the non mobo looking side

what ya think? How exactly could i cut the dragon? i doubt i can do it with a big cutting disc, do i use this?

080596010621_4.jpg

or like one of these tungsten carbide cutters?
080596099015_4.jpg

080596099039_4.jpg

is that right?

so ya what do i use and should i put the dragon like in the pic, or on the other side panel and do top rectanges on both sides, and figure out another window for the mainside?

if i do the dragon like in the pic, what will i do on the other side panel?

I don't think the carbide bits will get you the percision you need unless you find very small ones.

dang i dunno what i wanna do

Should i two equal round corner rectangles at the top of both side panels (so you can see right through em) and then make the dragon on the other side panel (the one that covers the back side of the mobo tray) and some other window design on the main panel (where you see the mobo)

should i make a asian temple design?

do tile cutting bits work?

Well I prefer the dragon cut out but I don't know how easy is going to be to cut it out with those bits. Definitly very small bits but hey give it a try and if not the cut the square if you mess it up. So far is looking good and i like the mesh it looks awsome.

ya ill try that, btw should i bondo the mesh so it looks like one piece?

if i do though id end up painting the mesh chrome, what should i do?

This is turning out VERY nice bro....especially for your first mod....congrats thus far, and keep us up to date on everything.

EDIT: Shoot me a PM if you want me to lend a hand with the wiring in your setup once theh case is finished.

It's looking really nice.. good job and keep up the great work.

A word about your dad... enjoy the fact he wants to help/spend time with you, and that he has a real interest in what you do. Many kids aren't that lucky.

Keep up the updates and the good work!!

lol well hes not really interested in what i do, hed rather have me not spend money on stuff :D

i'd do the dragon one... use the standard cutting disc on the dremel, just use some small ones for the curves. do the big open parts to wear down a disc, then put a different one on to do more rather than wearing them all the way down. draw the dragon on the case, then cut the rough outline of the dragon (inside the outline, of course) and use a file or the like to get to the actual outline.
