and uzor. I'm left handed. Your trackball is for right only. I mean it's like the entire mouse/trackball industry is geared around right handers only. It makes absolutely no sense. Do you know what it's like for a left hander to go to a store only to find right hand only mice/trackballs? It screws with your mind that's what it does!

Yeah, I imagine that's gotta suck. you use one of those centered ones that your middle fingers control the ball on? I've tried them and can't control them for shit. I did notice, though, that logitech makes a left handed version of the wireless d610. That's something...

That's because left handers are only a small percentage of the population...kinda like writing games for Mac

Ya I use the ones with the ball in the center. Have been doing that for years.

Testing testing 1....2....

Ok I have a little over $10~ left on a Tiger Direct gift certificate if someone wants to answer a little Diggnation trivia:

In what episode of Diggnation does Alex show off his new Falcon Northwest laptop (with that airbrush job that nobody can read hah!)?

43rd

This the one with the blue laptop and you can only see the 'NATION' and not the 'digg'?

Check your PM in a sec pigcorpse. Good job :D

BTW if i ever meet alex I'm going to have to offer to fix that "digg" part on the airbrushing. That's just a poor job by Falcon NW.

Hey were did you get those screens from ? The one your displayin computer-choppers on ?

The VFD is from Noritake.

Speaking of the VFD, all is running well. The VFD was mounted on the front and everything's getting ready to be glued together. The Digg RSS works great also. It displays the top stories every 10 seconds or so. I'll have pics when I get a little more finished tonight or whenever.

Well to start off let me just say....This won't be done in time for the Showdown LAN like I was hoping. The VFD took a little extra time getting here and I'm not even sure when hardware arrives so let's just say end of August sometime. Edit: Not one-zero's fault :D

I had the paint mixed up the other day and shot some on perforated steel this afternoon. Not the best way to gauge the color but I'm not being too picky. The paint appears dark but it isn't. It was a bit too bright in fact so I tinted it some more (not shown) and will reshoot some stuff tomorrow. It's a nice color though.

what kind of paint are you using?

Omni bc/cc. Keeping price in mind. There's no reason to spend extra on PPG. 99% of people couldn't tell the difference between the two.

Re-read the post "Not one~zero's fault" :D

I re-shot the perforated with a darker blue today. Turned out perfect. Can't wait to get everything in the booth.

One-Zero I hope you never live this down. Being the one and only cause to the delay in the production must really have an effect on your confidence. Please don't let us down in the future again.:D

All jesting aside make sure you don't accidentally leave the case to dry around the pin-stripeing department, in case some pinstripes should appear overnight....

It looks like it is comming along nicely, that vfd looks pretty tight, can't wait to see it finished.

I've been prepping the case to be glued together and having to think 100 steps ahead is slowing things down. I want to make sure I don't run into too many problems later on. The sprayable polyester isn't here yet (supplier is out of stock). Seems like everyone is slow (including me!)

Got a bunch of toys today including a bunch of coolermaster stuff (not intended for this case mod):

-Acer AL2051W 20" widescreen (I gotta be honest, I should have gotten a 24" instead, would have matched much better with the size of the case...Anyone care to spare 4"? :D I'd hate to mod it only to find a good deal on a 24" later this week...

-Logitech G15 keyboard (Looks neat, needs paint)
-Kensington optical trackball (Looks plain, is too light, needs to be modded to fit my big hands... needs paint also)
-16xDVDRW (Hey a plain old dvdrw.....What ever happened to the cool transparent TDK burners?....:( )

-Coolermaster Stacker 830 (not for this mod)
-Coolermaster Aquagate (same)
-Coolermaster 600w p/s (same)

Made a little switch panel, nothing special:
(Power supply off/on, power button, power led, reset button, hdd led, USB2, USB2)

digg26.jpg

I filled in this area of the I/O panel. The fan and the power plug both get covered up (fan get's a grill though). A little welding after that and it should be presentable. The motherboard tray is still removeable. You'll just have to unplug the 3 power wires. Seriously though, who is going remove the motherboard tray in this thing? You've got more than enough room to put one in from the back side.

that little control panel sure is nifty. :)

i like how modders are all 'oh yeah, and i just wipped this up' like they woke up and they had done something in their sleep. lol. and here i am with a dremel collecting dust...

Ya it looks nicer painted. I'd show you more but it'd ruin the fun of a worklog. :D

I vote to make this a sticky!

This case is just too cool and custom to miss out!!

Oh, are you gonna power the ccfls from the PSU, or will they get their own juice from the 120 AC line?.

Nah, no sticky.

The CCFL's are going off the power supply. The wiring is a bit tricky for them but all should be hidden. You will see the inverters on the bottom of the case though.

Qtip, why do you have to have such awesome worklogs? seriously, it takes too much time to read em all! it keeps me from doing actual work. :p

keep up the good work.

K folks I hate to ask because it spoils the surprise but I've exhausted every search I could possibly do and my time is limited.

I'm looking for a phenolic or acetal ball/sphere. Blue or silver/gray. It'll be a replacement for the trackball. I do have a transparent blue 1-7/8 ball but being an optical trackball, the eye doesn't seem to work great with the transparency. So a solid color would be preferred. Anyone have an old trackball that is blue?

I'm also looking for someone capable of printing/silk screening, etc on the ball.

Most of the places I've contacted have minimum orders of 100 and I can't seem to find anyone who does printing like this. Any ideas? PM me.

That would be a cool addition, very funky. Unfortunatly i dont know of a place like it.

Glad to be part of this mod though ;)

I'm sure you thought of this and decided against it, but why aren't you trying to paint/dye the clear ball you have?

Painting a ball is hard, you can't set it on anything. Wouldn't know a thing about dye though, I'd assume the dye couldn't penetrate the surface but I could be wrong.
