Problems with XFX's RMAs

You know the xfx rep seems to be going above and beyond to make things right for the op even though op is outside his global area....and some of you trolls just want to shit in the last few post.....well done! How many active reps do we even have at Hardocp? Never the less by all means troll away! It MIGHT be justified if the rep made some lame excuse how it was out of their hands...but is that the case? LOL..... If you want nothing to do with a company that has active reps here to help customers HERE by all means suite yourself.

Thank you for your opinion.

That's where they're telling me to send RMAs to from Australia. It's bullshit. No idea why everyone says XFX has "such great support" or that "it's so good with RMAs". Only reason I ended up choosing XFX over PowerColor. BIG MISTAKE.

Unfortunately that's the gamble you take by buying internationally, you can save some decent money but if something goes wrong you are footing the bill for international shipping unless the manufacturer has a local presence. For a pricey GPU, its just about worth paying the more expensive local price just to be covered by the statutory consumer warranties. Notwithstanding that, its pretty unforgivable that you have had to send back faulty cards multiple times at your cost because of their incompetence.

I think the intelligent thing is to see how this works out in the end. We have an excellent rep here and their wasn't anything he could do until op asked for help.....You guys buy what you want lol.....Im buying from company's that pay reps to help us right here:)

everyone here is entitled to their opinions and can share their experience. It does not make them trolls. Obviously Mark has turned some horror stories into happy endings, but not for everyone, and for those who have been put on the back burner and treated less than fairly (not by mark, but by the RMA process, of XFX, XFX international, other companies, etc) they have a reason to speak out, because if they didn't , the system would be treating a lot more customers unjustly.

How big of a power supply do you have? I dont know how many times i have seen people shell out for a nice video card - and forget that their 350 watt power supply (or 600 watt but really 350 watt) isnt going to run that card

Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus - 700W. The first 390 had no issues at all for 2 weeks though I think that rules out PSU issues.

It really has been so far. Here's hoping the support guy here can sort it out.

I normally don't recommend this unless you know what you're doing, or like doing research, but you could find out where their legal department is located (hopefully in a different state, or further!). Then write a letter citing some of your state laws about business practices and what they have to adhere to and that you will be filing against them if they continue to screw around (say that nicely). You can go down to the courthouse and setup a case for pro se or pro per so you do not require a lawyer. Chances are, even once they are served, they will not want to spend a load of money to send out even one lawyer (unless they are in the vicinity), and you will either get them to smarten up and take proper action, or you win your case by default and hold them to it. I doubt you want to try this, but if you do, include a clause in the court filings for their party to cover all legal and court fees in the event that they lose, and from what you have explained, it sounds like they will.

lol i see you guys are new here.....but you nothing to worry about. I have never actually seen a thread where Mark wasn't able to fix things...First time for everything i guess? lol but i doubt it

How long do these issues normally take to 'fix'?

I don't know why people are complaining...it is international shipping. ALl of my XFX transactions in North America have been smooth sailing. I sent in my 295x2 after the cooling fan started to malfunction and have my replacement card within two weeks.

I've only RMAd (or tried) 4 times, once to Steelseries, once to Overclockers.co.uk, once to Gigabyte, the other to Asus.
Asus denied me an RMA and the shop I bought it from gave me a hard time too (Overclockers.co.uk).

Overclockers sold me a faulty second hand TV as new, it wasnt even in its original box.
Dealing with them was like stirring mud, often resulting in no progress.
I threatened court action. That got their attention.

Steelseries tried to make me pay shipping to Holland for a faulty Sensei mouse replacement.
Eventually they sent me a replacement. I later found (after 3 switches started failing) that it was a previously opened mouse that they would have known was faulty. The mouse feet had already been peeled back to access the screw holes.
They repackaged a faulty mouse as a new replacement.

Gigabyte replaced a faulty P67 motherboard but then the shop I bought it from tried to deny me the RMA - after they had received my new motherboard from Gigabyte!
I couldnt believe it.
That shop is Aria.co.uk, you have been warned

So all 4 RMAs have been crappy.
The only satisfactory company has been Gigabyte.

Probably the only better company with good RMA stuff is EVGA.

That's the reason that nearly all of my graphics cards have been EVGA - with the only exception being my Windforce 980 because I found a crazy deal for it. Even if I have to sacrifice a tiny bit of performance, I'd rather have EVGA's CS.

Been there done that with both XFX AND ESPECIALLY ASUS.

Make sure your card doesn't post before sending it to them.... ;)

I've had amazing support from xfx. They even upgraded one of my cards. Nothing but great service from them. All my AMD cards are XFX and i try and keep all my Nvidia cards EVGA.

They have to replace the entire board if it doesn't POST. That means a core failure of the gpu. (Provided there are no power supply issues which are easily tracked with a probe) It's pretty darn hard to force a core failure though without obvious tampering signs.

They upgraded your card for you?! That's good support. Kinda hoping they at least give me a new one after all this.

Yeah at the time it went from a Ref 7970 to one of the OC models with a better cooler. Mind you this was during the 7970s heyday.

Lucky. It seems the only way I can even get a new replacement is to live in North America.

Its understandable. I can see how it would be frustrating for you and I can also see how it might be more difficult for them when dealing with other countries and RMAs. Trust me the XFX rep here is very very good at his job. He has tended to every XFX case I have seen on the forums and I have yet to see one unhappy customer after the Rep worked with them.

He's already said his hands are tied. As he said

I can definitely get you a brand new 390 shipped to any address in North America, but i do have to receive the unit back here, and unfortunately, i calculated the shipping costs and if i flipped the whole bill, shipping alone is $160.

If it were me i would try and meet him halfway on the shipping and Send the card to him for goodness sake...but thats just me

Thing is, I don't live in NA.
As long as you take care of the shipping expense.....we got thousands of members here that do live in NA.....ask Mark if he could work something like that out. You want to pay the shipping to and from me, its fine with me. i just cant afford to pay your shipping:)

Well at the moment Mark seems to have just worked something out allowing him to ship to me. Hopefully it works out.

Also fucking hate XFX, god awful RMA service, horrible build qual, ect. Someone had a 290 up here for 160 or so, only reason i didn't put that shit on my CC was because it was an XFX oem. No thanks.

But when the warranty service ends up costing you almost $140 and you still don't have a functional card, the quality of the warranty comes into question.
When in NA the quality is fantastic, and for me that's what matters understandably.

I hope that's the case, but I won't go back to them. I've blacklisted them for failing to adhere to their warranty terms and leaving me with a paperweight.

USA. This was about a decade ago.

For what its worth I had a small hiccup with my XFX RMA a few years back and the XFX rep on Hard helped me out alot and was very quick to respond and answer questions. You should be in good hands when dealing with the rep on here. Good luck with your RMA.
