I still cannot log in from my home PC but have no problem at all logging in from my work machine with the EXACT SAME CREDENTIALS..

I can't login using FF or Chrome.

I have to use *shudder* IE. I reset my password and everything too.

FIX THIS please.

To anyone having issues, do the following.
1. Clear ALL cookies that have hardforum in it from your browser, that includes cookies with & without the www on them, this also includes the plural hardforums.com cookies as well.
2. Close all browser windows, completely making sure its also not running in the backgroud/tray, verify in your task manager.
3. Restart your browser, making sure that you browser accepts and asks you to save the new cookie when you navigate to hardforum.com.

Please report back on whether or not you have success with this.

when I log on gmail and visit a few other sites, then come here, i can't log in, but if i close gmail and all my other windows, i can log in

that's a little weird

for a couple days i couldn't log in at all.

1. i cleared cookies and uninstalled safari and still wouldn't log on.
2. used chrome and firefox and still couldn't get on
3. i somehow managed to log on today

well this problem still exists on my laptop. did the steps KB suggested, still cant' log in. even with IE

well it seems beating a dead horse was the solution, just did it again for a 3rd time and it worked.

oooooh darkhunter....cheating on Kyle...have you no shame?

I too was also having issues logging in for the past few days. Rejected my passwords, even ones generated by the site itself through recovery. Cleared cookies, temp files, etc. Still didn't work until after a reboot.

Hehe, I was asking so I could compare software / versions.

I also couldn't log in and even reset my password. Restarting IE, deleting temp files seems to have fixed whatever happened.

I tried to request password and it told me my email did not exist =( luckily i somehow logged in today

Now that I think about it. The other machine with IE 7 that I tried logging in the day I had my problem did have [H] in the history from when I used it a few months ago. So that machine definitely had old cookies on it from a month ago. Clearing cookies on my home machine let me log back in. I will try that on the other machine next time I'm at that building.

Took me a few tries and 3-4 password resets with Firefox but finally got it to let me log in. Tried just deleting all Hardforum and HardOCP cookies at first but ended up have to delete all cookie to get it to work.

sometimes I have to close ALL my browser windows and tabs (private browsing mode on FF) and then try to log in again in a new instance and then it will let me log in

i'm not sure why it does that, I've never had problems before untill the last week or so

couldn't log on a few days back with IE8 but after the site went down for repairs for a few hours everything is back to normal

I was suffering the same problems on my Mac when trying to log in using Chrome. Safari would work without a problem. I turned off DNS prefetching in Chrome and I was able to login....

I also had to clear all cookies etc.. in order to log in today.
( I just ran an InPrivate session on IE8)

The thing is that when it was failing it would say that my login or pass was incorrect.
I tried 5 times which is the limit, then i had to wait 15min to try again.
Then i started an inprivate session, and used same login pass, and this time it worked.

Installed Chrome, made sure not to import any cookies, and can now log in. FF still won't work, I've tried clearing the cookies several times along w/ multiple pw resets. Frustrating.....

So is this a [H]ardforum issue or a browser issue???

We have not figured it out yet. Have not been able to recreate on our side. Most people see the problem go away after the cookies get cleared.

Cleaned out my cookies a couple more times, and now FF is logging in here again. I didn't do anything differently than before, though.

Strange problem .......

I also had to do several password resets, as well as dump all cookies using Chrome. Not sure what did it, but the password was finally accepted.

aha, I thought i'm doing something wrong

did cleaning and resetting, don’t know which one solved it. good luck with figured it out.

i have to clear my cache/coockies every time just to get in lol

Was not able to log in with a fresh Windows 7 install and IE8. Tried for 3 or 4 cycles of lockouts.

Went over to my secondary computer with IE7 and the same thing. Installed Firefox and bam was able to log in.

Win Server 2008 R2 EE with IE8 will not login since I cleared all my temporary data (cookies also) two days ago. I whacked the 5 time login limit with it and now have to wait for the 15 min lockout to pass.

My Firefox browser still has a current cookie that works so I am not wiping Mozilla's cookies in it until this is fixed. Firefox version is 3.6.

I suspect the last patch cycle from Microsoft broke MSIE's handling of a login process.

wow, that totally sucked.

I used IE 8 and FF. Cleared everything... still didn't work, fired up chrome... and now i am back in.

Sigh.

Same thing here. IE8 didn't work, but then I used Chrome and it worked fine. IE8 is back working though for the last few days.
