Hey everyone.

I'm just looking for some opinions before I start spending any more money on this machine.

Recently I've started having random lockups on my computer. Sometimes while gaming, mostly while doing something simple like opening a browser or double clicking on a program. I have a Raid 0 setup with 2 WD Blacks. I'm aware that a Raid 0 configuration with mechanical drives is a ticking timebomb, but I have to ask anyway.

I've ran 2 separate instances of IBT set for 50 loops at Extreme setting. Both passed no problem with my max temp at a tolerable 75c. Rule out overclock.

Next I thought it might be my GTX 470sli setup. I'm overclocked to 825/1650 at 1.087v. I ran Kombuster for 3 hours no problem.

Ran memtest for several hours on my memory and everything checked out.

My gut tells me its the HD's... or possibly motherboard (though I doubt it since the overclocks are stable)?

Thoughts?

If this is the case, I'm finally going to jump on the SSD ship. Will get either a Plextor M5 or Samsung 840 PRO 256gb.

This. I've had even the RE3/RE4 (Western Digital "Raid Edition" purportedly) drives in RAID0 sometimes cause this issue, but when I moved the data and broke up the raid the drives worked fine / tested fine in crystaldiskinfo.

If you're serious about keeping RAID0, backup your data and break the array, format both disks, then remake the array. Doing that with the above made it work a while longer, but when it rolled around a second time a few weeks/months later I just stopped with R0.
 
Forget that the OC is passing for the moment, if you return the CPU and GPUs to standard does the problem resolve?

No, the problem continues...

I actually had a strange issue a few months back where my array failed to boot.I had to use TestDisk to repair it which worked great. System continued to run flawlessly for about 2 months before this happened. Maybe that was an early sign?
 
So I tried CrystalDiskInfo and it reports that my drives are fine. Strange. I'm reverting back to stock clocks and will test some more. Will post once I know more.

It doesn't really sound like a HD problem to me.

Have you checked the Event Viewer for errors?

I'm not really sure what you did with TestDisk......
It was primarily designed to help recover lost partitions and/or make non-booting disks bootable again when these symptoms are caused by faulty software, certain types of viruses or human error

It really has nothing to do with the health of your drives.

If it were me, I'd be looking elseware.
