I've always loved white lights in windows. Looks nice.
Thanks, it's my first machine with window and I am really enjoying this view :p

Nice system, but this thread is more geared around the whole desktop/work area/office etc, not just the computer you use
Sorry if it is wrong place, just want to share what I like and was sure that the machine itself is more interesting then table. Will post more images sometime.

With a system like his, does it really matter? :p
Sarcasm? :D

Sorry for the crappy HD2 camera. I made my desk out of an extra solid core door I had laying around in the basement and 5 Ikea Vika Curry Legs and a couple of brackets to secure it to the wall. I don't think the desk is too bad for a total cost of $40. The monitor shelf will be replaced as soon as my budget allows eyefinity. I will be buying a few wall mounts when I get the funds for that.

Using a door as a table top is actually a pretty neat idea. You know ... I might do the same thing. I would imagine that it's fairly easy to drill holes and large circle templates into the surface to accommodate desk grommets for USB hubs and things of that sort.

I looked into buying a door and using filing cabinets for legs and storage. However the price was higehr than it would have been for an Ikea Galant desk with legs and a few plastic drawer things from walmart.

If I didn't already have the door I wouldn't have went this route. But since I had one in the basement not being used it was a great option for me. I really liked the look of some of the Ikea desks but it was too much for me to buy one and have it shipped.

I duno where you were shopping but door blanks are cheap man. I seriously doubt there is a cheaper desk this size.

Solid hard wood vs. cardboard ... Hard wood is not cheap at all

yea. I was going to Home Depot and looking at solid doors that I could stain and seal so it looked and felt decent. That combined with steel filing cabinets and it was many hundreds of dollars. My Galant was ~$450 all told. I'll post pictures once the room is in decent shape after finals.

The "work"station. Trying out SoftTH on EVE and it is looking pretty amazing.

Been abit unlucky with removing the bezels of of the 2007FPs. They say u just need to wedge something between the plastic parts and it should unclip them apart, but mine seems to be abit too tough make so I'm afraid that I'll hurt my babies during the process.

Guessing 7360x1600 (4x1200 + 2560)

That's an awful lot of room to spend on just one client though... I run 4-6 eve clients on 3 monitors at times, <3 window mode

Not pictured are some nice ATH-M50s, and the D3100 taking the shots :p
It's really hard to get the image to not wash out the monitor... maybe I needed to bracket-->HDR this shot, but that needs software I don't have, yet :( Monitor is an U2711 :D

rig powering this is a little SG06 :)

A lot of people seem to be using the Audio-Technica AT2020, but I'm real surprised you guys are using the stand that it comes on (though it's difficult to tell in omerta's picture). I hate that stand, though I guess it works okay if you're after portability.

I have a samson shock mount & a small desk stand for it, too, however, it's a bit larger than I like, so I just use the stock mount with I have it on my desk (and not near my yamaha KB :)).

eve looks awesome on that. Really like the set up.

Don't automatically assume all the workstations you see here were paid for with cash.

This. My desk was $60 on CraigsList. The rig has been a work in progress for the past 6-8 months. No way could I afford all my gear all at once.

Agreed. Newegg now accepts organs as forms of payment.

They also accept credit cards, which you can then spend several months paying off with interest.

Anyone can put big purchases on a credit card and live in debt. But very few are "made of money" and able to pay cash or buy everything all at once.

That's what I was trying to say when I replied to the made of money post, but I thought it was obvious.

If that's sarcasm at that Mac stuff, then I'm ROFL.

It's actually an expensive chair, so I don't think it was. And yeah, I didn't want to go all-mac, but the mac suits what I'm doing better than windows right now. I do miss my PC a lot.

my younger brother grabbed a like new 3007 wfp-hc on CL last week for $375! =(...beat my $600 local CL pick up

You had to spread the acquisition of those three 580s over an entire month ... must have been extremely painful ;)

LOL, I won't downplay it, it was a very good month. I really wanted to get them all at once though. Wouldn't have happened at all without a performance bonus from work.

EDIT: *puts on flamesuit*
Antec HCP-1200 showed up yesterday...

that's a nice PSU!...sold my HX1000 for a AX1200 would have gone HCP if the AX wasn't on sale

Yeah, after reading fantastic reviews as well as seeing some real world performance from our friend Vega and the guy pulling ~2200W on YouTube, it seemed like the best choice.

Really new to the forum (joined last night). This is my first PC set up in years, as I've been a loyal mac user for the last 10 years. It's not a custom build, but I'm fairly proud of it. Made the transition back to PC as I'm studying to get a few IT certifications and make a career change from professional politics to information technology.
