I understand. As you can see, I'm stuck with 2.1 (sub out of pic) due to a lack of good rear placement. These are Logitech 560Z's btw.

What self-righteous hole did you crawl out of? I can think of 10 different ways you could have worded that without sounding the way you did. Work on your people skills. The dude posted a pic. I'm sure it sounds decent - though possibly not as you might have them sound. Why don't you start of with:

I just got my new logitech Z680's installed in my new dorm room...there are the three front speakers...the surrounds are hidden on a bookshelf behind me (they don't get that much use anyways)

Mine might even be older then yours, its a sx 750, but it still works fine.

I dont have it in the picture, but I also have a 10" Sony sub now hooked up with everything so my comp stuff hits real hard now!

We know what a lot of your main speaker setups look like, but I haven't seen pics of too many surround setups for people's comps. Unfortunately, I don't have any pics to start the thread off (part of the reason I am starting this in the first place), but I thought it would be neat to see how everyone had their surround speakers positioned/mounted. So if you're proud of what your surround setup looks like, or think you came up with an ingenious way of mounting your rear speakers, we'd like to see them!!

Klown, do you want to tell me how you managed to hook up those car subs and amps to your system? Where did you manage to get that battery pack?
 
you can run them off a dedicated powersuply, even a small, old AT one will work (for smaller speakers

i split my front and rear speaker outputs from my sound card, the 3.5 headphone jack goes into a 3.5--RCA splitter which goes into the subs, so basically i have Front Sub woofer and Rear Subwoofers

i power them using a 600CCA battery pack, i can recharge it using the AC outlet, if i dont abuse the crap out of the subs they last actaully up to 5hours playing (half vol which is still loud and it hurts after a while)

they sound so good in my room because the room isnt too big, maybe 1.5 vans in volume. it goes loud enough to hear and feel from next door

yeah you can get power supplies that put out constant 12V like computer power supplys but for home theatres, they are HELLA expensive
 
Wouldn't it be easier (and sound much better) to have a proper subwoofer than a car one running off a jump start kit? Is that what it is? Velodyne's tiny little subs have 1200W RMS and are like half the size of that monstrosity.

Drool at those bad boys "Noise cancelling targus headphones"(im not to proud of the brand)but they own, especially when playing cs. When noise cancelling is engaged the bass is not distorted but rather sounds good, while cancelling out other crap(necesary for cs)
 
I've been wanting to try some noise cancelling headphones out for a while, but the only ones I've seen were Sony and Bose for several hundred dollars.
 
$50 for these beast at best buy, i first bought a logitech headset which was nice but earcups were tiny and uncomfortable. Switched that with these, because these have large earcups which also aids in sound especially when the bass hits the fan when listening to aphex twin :cool:

Just your average high-quality closed ear cup noise cancellers, the noise cancelling isnt much but it does help out a lot.

Man, dont diss people while elevating yourself onto a pedestal. Your setup isnt as impressive as your proclaimation made it seem, Mr. Audiophile-to-the-extreme.

Muddy sound owns, right now im using $10 dell speakers for a subwoofer cause im running the input from my labtecs subwoofer output. When the bass gets crazy, the speakers about blow up and sound really terrible but its funny :cool:

Thats almost as good as when a beat up 80's civic drives by with huge subs and the licence plate is vibrating so much you expect it to shoot off and injure someone.
 
Im going to try that on my 85' accord, and anyways my speakers are used rarely cause my headphones own so much and that they cost more then my speakers combined.

The PC-71 is actually LARGER (in the sense that it has more drive bays, etc.. - much better design/layout) than the SC-750 [I should know, I upgrade FROM a sc-750 to the PC-71.. and it is considered a "full" tower, although it is 6 inches shorter than the sc-750

and the lian li pcv-2000 series (2000,2100,2200) have 7 front bays like your supermicro, but, *12* hidden 3.5" bays.

how much does that velodyne sub cost? mine costs under $200USD for ALL 3 subs + amps + booster pack

the booster pack i actually use to boost cars as well, its always hand to have one, i can power any equip that is 12v, when the pack is not in use i just use it for my subs lol
