Yeah, after hours with my Polk R150s, of course made popular by me ^_^.... anyway, they really sound great when cranking them up in a near-field environment.

Also, the speakers featured in my post a few pages back really fill the room with their 15s ^_^. My little Onkyo sub sounds like a bookshelf speaker woofer :eek:

Although, I am getting a 50" LG plasma tomorrow, and that will complement the large 15" ers

I will end up probably getting 2 12" Daytons so the 15" ers don't take up my room :p

IMing he could do just as easily on his laptop, music he could do probably MORE easily from his gaming rig (I think alt-tabbing out to change music while gaming is going to be LESS of an interference than spinning around 180 degrees and diddling with an entirely different computer).

If he has an extra LCD and parts laying around...why not....I would rather dedicate it to a MCPC, but im sure he has his reasons for not making it a MCPC...and you never know when you need a server for LAN's and maybe your clan website/server...theres hundreds of reasons

thats y i never liked the swans because who puts the volume control on the speakers? Only things i can think of is put it on the floor and use your feet/toe to turn it up and down, or put it on the floor and just use the volume thing on ur keyboard(if u have one) to control the sound.

You can't put it on the floor, the frequencys from the center are much too high to be treated like a subwoofer, when you're playing FPSs it'd sound like everyone was down at your feet shooting up at your crotch.

*Giggles*, I think the best option would be to wall mount it above your monitor, and you wont have the feeling that people are shooting at your crotch ;)

That's because it's a poor design. If it's something that can't be put on the floor, it's also something that can't be mono.

X-FI $100 winamp free lossless 44hz > Oritek V4 Coax $500> Emotiva BPA-1 $200> Tad 805SD $150> TAD 12" sub $120.

$870 and it sounds very clean and natural with tons of detail. Microdetail will improve when I get a Tripplite LC1200 and some good PCs.
 
I posted in a thread about a month or so ago, about piecing together a cheap 2.1 setup

I know it's not the best system around, but it is a huge step up from my 4.1 Klipsch PC speakers and fits nicely in my dorm room

I was originally going to get the 10" Dayton sub from Parts Express, but I sprung for the X-sub. Currently the placement isn't great...but I don't have much space here.

I'm sure it does sound good and all, but there's no reason to spend $500 on a DAC. Also, Dayton carries that same amp for less money. I don't know what an Isobar L1200 is, but it sounds like a surge protector to me....

lol it is a Tripp lite lc1200 sorry.

Source is key man. The dac is worth every penny. I could be ok without it true but it is the difference b/w good and OMG that sounds REAL so yeah.

Without the dac and Emotiva I was using a $75 Pioneer 515 reciever/dac which did great too.
 
with my recent upgrades i was able to listen to a few different sourches next to each other.

all of them had different sound signatures, none of them sound bad but there were noticeable differences. so spending more money on the source isn't a bad idea. the 500 bucks for the omz are well spent.
 
Source is the place that you find the best value really. I did spend a little more but man alive ANYTHING sounds great with an excellent source. It is the foundation. The Emotiva BPA-1 is another amazing deal btw. I give all my parts the highest recommendations for value. This setup simply owns my ears and heart now.

Oh, the weird tweak with the balls I did to the dac is the cheapest upgrade ever. I paid about $30 and it brought the dac to another level of clarity.
 
I do not see how vibration affects a source's sound quality...maybe if you are rocking a tube amp or dac. a turntable (obviously) or maybe a CDP..maybe

but since the Zahalou has no really moving parts or anything just solid state all the way i dont see how it could be affected by vibrations

Could someone shed some light on this?

d00d liek totly teh vibratinz n stuff make teh eletrical rotronz jatter n it mezes up teh dichitel zignel.

Vibrations can kill sound quality. I have an old HP bench power supply under my bed (because I have nowhere good to keep it at the moment) and the case of the thing vibrates like crazy. Been too lazy to move it to the basement.
 
I've experimented with this "vibration" control stuff.... I had some black diamond pucks that I won at some audio convention (6 pieces for like $150 or something ridiculous) and I did not notice any difference. I placed it under my DAC.

It may have been that I haven't been listening hard enough, but from my experience, whatever I heard was probably miniscule.

I got mine for $30 just to see if it works. This setup does make a difference in my system. Noticeably more clean and clear sounding.

lol it's cool. not like it is a big risk to try it. i say it works for me and to give it a try if you are bored. it does clean up the signal no doubt though.
 
I think these anti-vibration mounts for DACs are subjected to the fundamental rule of audio - if it sounds good to you, then that's good (even if it is just placebo).
