Post your retro hardware.

Actually, I don't know. Haven't been able to figure out how to open the freaken case lol. And it's to heavy to be lifting up and down off tables and all. I swear, it weighs about 200ish pounds I think. Took me and another guy to bring it upstairs.

Not as vintage/retro as some, but from left to right (cameraphone ftl):

I had an Indy. When I got rid of it, I took the SGI logo off it and hot glued it to my lcd (which I transfer any time I get a new lcd). :)

Umm.. Panasonic CF-25.. and it still hasn't died yet!

Only useful thing about it is the night light and heater function ( too old for an OS )

I really hate to be an ass... but, you might want to invest in a cheap camera or something. :p

what the bloody hell? are they single sided? are they huge? how the hell is it possible to have 512mb using sixteen sticks?!

32mb sticks, pretty normal size back then, I still have tons of 16mb 72 pin simms, and some 1mb 30 pin simms...

I used to have a very old mac.. when the second model came out ( after the wooden one ).. I was able to get two boards with 128k ram and another with only 32k in at the same time.

I had to toss it as I had no clue how to use a mac interface, and secondly... I needed the room more than it did.

I'm still in a bind to make room. PS I also have a Key Tronic keyboard " indestructable" it's a charm to type on :)

"STILL a member of the socket 939 alliance" - FTW

I'm running a 4800+ s939 :)

:D Yup, it isn't my main computer, but I still use it from time to time... It is still quicker than my newer one, but it uses so much power in comparison I don't use it much.

Dual sided, and they plug into slots on memory cards that then plug into the motherboard. What's worse, there's still room for more. I can't remember if the model I have can take 768MB or a full Gig using the same density of RAM.

Yep, 32MB per stick. Weird ECC EDO DIMMs, though, instead of something that's easy to find nowadays.

Full-ish specs:
Compaq Proliant 3000
Dual Pentium II 333MHz
512MB of ECC EDO RAM (16x 32MB ECC EDO 5Volt DIMMs)
2x 2GB full-height (i.e. twice the height of a normal 3.5" harddisk) SCSI drives with caddies
Slot-load CD drive (unknown speed)
Tape Drive (unknown capacity)
Removable power supply, bigger in size than most 1kW power supplies of today -- it can fit two of these for redundancy
Nifty little LCD and keypad for diagnostics/readouts (uses a protocol that hasn't been hacked to work with current PCs, last I heard. Not for lack of trying, though)

I've never powered it up. The power rating is high enough that I think it'd blow the fuse in this old home, and I don't have the discs needed to bring it up/install an OS anyway. Got it for $10 off eBay late night, but the shipping was $90:( .

I got a proliant 3000 too, so I know the memory type, pretty weird, it is like a dimm, only 2" tall...

Toshiba Tecra 500CDT and I owned 2 of these beasts in excellent condition - Just can't use them these days when the internet requires a better system... What would someone use 120mhz for ?

Intel Pentium 120MHz,
16 MB RAM - EXPANDABLE up to 144MB,
1.3 GB Hard Drive - Boots C:\,
2 MB Video,
Internal CD-ROM
12.1" Active Matrix TFT screen,
Accupoint Integrated mouse pointer,
Floppy Drive not Included,
Lithium Ion (10.8v, 3600mAH) battery (no warranty),
Integrated 28.8/14.4kbps Data/Fax/Voice Modem,
Integrated SoundBlaster Pro Compatible Sound.

Back in the day when Power Bricks ment nothing :p

I don't own them anymore but I will point a link to some pics http://www.recycledgoods.com/zoom.aspx?productID=9003

I also had a panasonic cf 25, and a Fujitsu 400 series 435Dx

And for the win.. I just picked up a free IBM ThinkPad 560 NO Floppy Drive with mine :(

Basically, I like to collect laptops as long as they can run xp somewhat. Parts are more compatable. So I had an old toshiba 4060xcdt which I was than given a dell cpt ( touch pad mouse & 2 slots for ram ) that I figured is much better mind you I have no power supply or optical drive for it.. not a big problem... I decided to sell the toshiba as some might recall, making $50 & I was given this laptop aswell! I guess it would be good for playing some Roms - Has a power switch issue which I will fix later.

There is just something about older laptops that make me want to collect them... perhaps it's the build quality or the elegance of a working tire block :D

I was given two old Dell Inspiron 7500's last week by a friend. One works, and one... doesn't. The one that works has a Pentium III Coppermine 600MHz, 192MB RAM, an 8MB ATi Rage Mobile, an IBM 12GB Hard drive and a 15" screen (1024x768, but I've managed to get 1200x1024).

Runs Windows 2000 very nicely, shame the battery is dead.

I would love to see how you found out which cases you could stand on and which ones not :D. I'm imagining a pile of crushed cases in the trash.

I have an NZXT Adamas - purportedly supports up to 300 lbs of weight ...

lol 99% of the cases in the past 5 years wouldn't even thinking of testing, they all use the cheapo crap "Japanese steel".

Was a 266mhz cacheless celeron with 32mb of ram and a 2gb hdd, I used the case for my current Core 2 duo build

So.. in all attemps to get that old ibm uptop this page to work for me.. I traded it for this little guy

Acer Note Light

Pentium 100Mhz with 2x 4mb EDO & 2gb hard drive

I finally decided to register after lurking around HardForum for quite some time now.

My laptop collection is quite large and constantly growing.
Here are three of my favorite retro sub-notebooks.

Compaq Contura Aero 4/33C
486 SX @ 33 MHz
8 MB RAM
255.8 MB HD

IBM ThinkPad 510Cs
486 BLX2 @ 50 MHz
20 MB RAM
200 MB HD

Toshiba Libretto 60CT
P1 @ 100 MHz
32 MB RAM
2.1 GB HD

Anything good to run on a P1 - 100mhz system ? Besides DX Ball

SIms Tower. We had this on our Pentium 133's up at school back in the day.

You can find on the web, since its abandonware. If you can't PM me and I'll upload it, I think I still have the zip file.

Here is a link about it, and a link to download it ( I have not tested the download link)

Thanks for the link, it downloaded without a hitch. I had a really interesting time getting it onto the hard drive as it's bigger than a regular floppy lol. But I'll try it out soon enough.

Tried it out... can't.... stop.... playing.... now :D

:D Sim tower is the first game I ever got, played the heck outta it... If you can find it "yoot tower" is a newer version with more stuff.

Nice one there, not old at all. A P3 is fine for what a laptop does...

Nice laptop .. However I just got mine online and working now.. Dell Latitude CPT C series with 64mb ram, 6.4gb hdd, 333mhz celeron, missing optical drive, dead battery, wireless pcmcia card.

The sad thing is I see at least one of those laptops a week at my shop. Customers seem to think laptops are meant to last a lifetime.

Did some digging around and finally got the old datatrain dpc 4625 working again (cmos battery is dead). I've run the thing for years as a clock . . .

I've also got a working Amstrad "portable" kicking around that will run on 8 C cells and has a flip up supertwist LCD display. The fun part is that its 640K RAM, dual 720K floppy and a full sized keyboard.

Getting a bit older, I still have operation R/S Model 100s, 102s (still looking for a 200) and the NEC PC8301a.

Meanwhile, thinking of retro/vintage, back to watching 1000000 Years BC with Racquel . . .
