Post your pc screen shots!

shot2.tiff

I want that red X!!

Can I get a linky?

hahahaha, who tries to post a 1.26MB tiff file? if your right click it and go to properties, then copy and paste the link into your browser it will ask you to download the file, then you can open it with photoshop, kind of defeats the purpose of a post your screen shots thread

edit, felt like being a nice guy so i converted it to .jpg and hosted it for the n00b

So here is r00's very stock looking desktop...
shot2[1].jpg

figures he's a MAC user...

Heh. My browser (firefox) just displays an empty post box... so I figured he posted an empty post or something, lol.

Looks like r00's a fan of homestarrunner.com... and I don't recognize the "Grab" and "Capture" options either... or the compass and gas guage at the bottom left... and I've used Macs enough to know my way around one. Guess he's tweaked his somehow.

n00b here:
The iChat icon is custom, just downloaded it off a site and put it on... the compass is Apple's web browser Safari and the gas guage is the new Dashboard feature in OS X Tiger...

and as far as the file goes,,, didnt realize the PC couldnt show a tiff without photoshop, otherwise i would have dumbed it down to a jpg.... shows it fine on my iBook....

also, dont act like im some kind of dumbass for having a mac... if you look at my sig i dumped a damn good PC off when i got this, not because it was broken or sucked,,, because winblows sucks...

Actually, even MS Paint will open a *.tiff. As for being a Mac junkie... I don't consider you a n00b for it at all... it's just that, well, using a Mac is sorta brainless. The ones I've used can't be customized very well, and Macs in general can't really be upgraded easily, or so I've heard-- there just aren't that many options for it.

If you ever decide to come back to the PC side of things, you might try running Linux. I've been thinking of experimenting with it myself.

i run linux on my xbox... not bad,,, but even less options than the Mac for programs and such...

as for customization: icons are about 10000000x easier to change on mac its literally a copy and paste from one "properties" to another (on mac its called Info, not properties)

the desktop changing is the same, as well as the screen saver.

i upgraded my iBook myself: i installed the RAM and the Airport extreme under the keyboard in the expansion bays, and any torx set of screwdrivers will get you inside to upgrade the hard drive, etc...

Installing and uninstalling apps is as easy as drag and drop.

And last but not least the community is much tighter...usually...

Don't ever try to upgrade your graphics on a Mac... theres like 2 options, tops, from what I've heard. And you can't mod a Mac very much, either, from what I've heard-- I've heard of three people who've done it and still kept it a Mac... they are:

- the people who tried (might still be trying) to o/c a mac mini here on [H]. Don't know if they actually did it or not.
- Somebody got in an issue of CPU Magazine for their pyramid Mac system. Looked like they designed and built the whole thing themselves.
- Somebody else got an entire article in CPU Mag (more than one page, to boot) for modding their Mac as well. They stuck with the original case, though. Added some RAM and upgraded the video card to whatever the other option was at the time, a 9800 Pro I think.

The good thing IMO about Mac OS X is that at it's core, it's FreeBSD, which (if I understand correctly) is a cousin of Linux. So, if you know what you're doing, you can rewrite Linux drivers to work with a Mac. It's probably very, very, very difficult (to say the least) and I'm not that sort of coder, so I wouldn't know, but it's probably possible. I doubt it's worth the work, though.

indeed... Linux and Mac OS are UNIX based... actually Mac OS X comes with its own developer tools for free so you can make your own programs and possibly do what you are talking about...

anyways back on topic ladies and gents.... dont wanna get anyone upset at me for a legit reason like going off topic...

^^^ i tried that program once (w/e its called). i didnt like it too much since my desktop is relatively small. maybe if i was running 1600x1200 id look back into it. it was also kinda hard to get into....

Kinda sucks, I just got about 4 wallpapers I really loved, but I picked this one for now. I'll change it in time :)

Edit: I changed the Fade color. The orginal fade color went to Pink which I wasn't diggin so much. I have nothing against pink, but this was like a Fierce pink.

@bomber^^^^
I used the Royale theme once...works great if you like how the standard blue XP theme looks, but want a little gloss to it or something. Here's a wallpaper I made to match it... (the bottom windows logo is off-bottom so it's not sticking half way out of a taskbar.

lesman, please dont quote the stupid pic. weve been through this already.....
I posted it for a logical reason....I didn't know if bomber had posted yet (and I'm NOT gonna search the thread just to check) and I didn't want to put arrows because there's always those times where someone posts right before you....but, at your request, and since no one posted before me, I will happily oblige and remove the image! :)

so did anyone find out how darktiger makes his desktops look so pretty?

Resized from 1680x1050 (on a 15.4" screen :( -- All because Dell doesn't ship here  )

well you could do what you changed it to: do an @NAME, which is always good.

or you could remove the IMG tags so theres a link... or you could do a combo of the two.

It's simple: take high quality, mostly unique wallpapers and match it with a nice OS X theme, some good widgets, start itunes in mini-player mode, and BAM......instant pretti-ness! ;)

what dock is that and which weather docklet are you using? the weather docklet in objectdock decided to crap out on me recently and i cant seem to get it to work...anyone have similar experiences?

I had the EXACT same experience as you with the docklet crapping out...it's stardocks objectdock, and the weather docklet is an updated versin of the one that comes standard with it...it's an XML docklet that uses the weather channels XML weather feed...so it's very accurate. When mine crapped out, I searched for "weather docklet" or somewhere along the lines of that at http://www.wincustomize.com in the "object dock" section and found it.

google Yz Dock, its been taken off all major sites since they were sued by Apple for 1 reason or another. they have a weather docklet and a network traffic docklet as well.
