bit of a change. Decided to throw my PC in another room and just run the cables to the desk. Silence ftw.

Nice Setup. What site do you have displayed on your laptop? Is that a search engine?

Looks like Opera's home page if it had more than 9 speed dial items. Looks a bit like Opera with Camino's tabspose.

Time for a bit of an update. I've changed quite a bit of kit recently:

Gone is the macbook, the apple 20in cinema display, the vesa desk mount, the apple keyboard, the logitech mx revolution. The VESA mount was sadly destroying the desk so I had to remove it. The ikea desk clearly isn't made well enough for all the weight.

The new kit is as follows:

Apple Mac Mini 2.53GHZ
Apple 24 inch LED Cinema Display
Magic mouse/Wireless keyboard

HP Mini 5101 Netbook
Normal atom setup, but with a high res 1366x768 screen and broadcom HD card in.

I picked the netbook a couple of weeks back and realised that two laptops was silly. The HP is far lighter so I just carry that with me all the time instead of the macbook. So I started thinking iMac's and Mini's. Whilst I like the iMac's I change my systems so often that a separate screen was a must. The 24in LED Display was a bit overkill for my needs but I love it!

Added these to the picture threads in Computer Audio but figured I'd add them here in case some folks don't visit that sub-forum:

I probably don't post in here cause my MBP is the whole setup, that's it, it sits on my table next to my couch sometimes but otherwise it's a notebook I take it places, it doesn't get docked it doesn't stay in one spot, it's in and out of my backpack and classrooms and other rooms in the house and inside and outside.. hell the only time I even hook up a mouse (bluetooth even) is if I'm at a LAN party, otherwise it's just a mobile powerhouse.

My Mac Setup is the machine itself, maybe the earbuds I use with it, and rarely the bt mouse+pad.

My PC is the machine with the 'setup' it's the one that doesn't go anywhere, it's too cumbersome, I've tucked away all my wiring and such and there's no way I'm moving it anywhere, although I wouldn't hate converting to a 27" i7 iMac + U2711 setup, someday maybe..

and now that I've written this, I suspect maybe I should post my setup here, that is, after I clean my room cause it's a mess from having no time between studying/tests/finals these last two weeks of the quarter, hell I slept through the house cleaner coming through so I'll have to vacuum myself (oh noesss! btw the cleaner is for my mothers sanity, not my laziness lol).

Stuff changed slightly. Work bought me a u2410 to replace that 17" dell i had before. (I had to scroll side/side when i did remote desktop stuff, etc etc. It's making work easier.

And yes that's an ipad as a extended desktop monitor over wifi. (The usb cable is there so it doesnt run the battery down. In a day. (Which is actually pretty good if you ask me. I get ~8hrs of good use out of it!)
Close up.

No. That would be Opera's speed dial.

Here is mine. 27'' imac w/ dell 2711 (pc and imac secondary)

Like I mentioned a few posts up, this is exactly the setup I'd convert to if I had money for it haha. I'm sure I could get most of the cost from parting my whole desktop setup, but I can't convince myself to do something extreme like that at this stage in my life, someday..

I especially love that you removed the anti-glare film, after checking out those images of the change, dang, I couldn't live w/ the anti-glare either.

Very nice setup. The U2711 looks nice next to the iMac. I have a glossy U2711 at the office for my MBP, its really a great display, it is well suited for Macs. It can receive digital audio and WQHD resoltuion over a single displayport from 2010 MBPs. If you do the glossy mod, its screen will feel like the 27" iMac.

Here is my work setup in the office. It's a MBP 13" 2.66 (with 128Gb SSD) + a Dell U2711 27" display with the glossy mod (AG coating removed). The MBP is the same as on my home setup pic.

Seriously, Is no one buying anymore macs? lol

I don't think I've ever posted mine in this thread, so here goes. 13" MBP with Dell 22" el cheapo refurb monitor, bluetooth keyboard, magic mouse, and a pair of JVC HA-RX700s. All sits on a $50 Ikea Mikael, which has held up very well. Note the black wire below is an extension cord as this room is tiny (guitar case is leaning up against right side wall and I'm standing in the doorway) and there is only one outlet.

how you like those headphones?

how you like those headphones?

very much! I got a pair for my gaming rig and then went and got another for my mac office. I've seen them as low as $33, but they are $40 right now on amazon and buy.com and worth every penny. Very comfortable and SQ is way above par for the price. My fiancée and dog are really awesome at knocking them onto the floor as well, and they've held up nicely.

Click on the pictures for their Flickr page + notes (ID of hardware). Was going to have the computer in the second "office" room, but found out I like to have the TV and computer in the same room. Go figure. Waiting on banana stand to arrive for headphones. Keep the iPad and iPhone in the bedroom.

I see you got a new trackpad there. How is it working out for you? Are you using it more than your mouse?

I would say I split my time between the two 50/50. Any casual work I usually default to the trackpad. Any seriously work that requires the use of the mouse buttons or gaming, I go with the Logitech. Sadly, the Magic Mouse just sits there.

One thing that irks me is the physical clicking response of the trackpad, but I can deal with using tap clicks. Is it worth the $70? Would be hard to justify it to anyone, even to me. Down the road I am planning to use it for HTPC.

Replaced and sold the MBP with a Mac mini for a slightly cleaner setup. I didn't find myself needing the mobility and it is a lot easier to drop a SSD into the new minis than the old non-unibody MBP. Plus a mini has a great retirement plan to serve as a HTPC down the road.

I'm surprised they still work. I've had them since they came to the market way back when and everyone else I know with them had at least part of the set die. The only thing that kicked the bucket for me was the remote.
