Post Your Mac Setup!

Michael's! It's amazing how hard it is to find plain black picture frames. I matted them myself as and I also took the photographs.

how much did they cost. i want to do exactly that print my photos and frame/matte them any guides or tips?

They were on sale for like $5 or something (Michael's has sales on these things all the time).

Anyway, a family friend has a machine (like the one pictured below) that does a lot of the work for you but I think they're around $500.

The glossy screen took a little getting used to, but I'm fine with it now. You really can see the exposed ceiling of my loft in the reflection. :p The build quality is superb, even surpassing that of my old MBP. I love the all aluminum unibody - it's sleek, sexy and solid - and this MBP is a lot faster than my old one. I still haven't tried any of my video simulation development apps, but will get to that in a few days. Now, I'm anxiously awaiting my new iPhone to complete the package. :)

I hate these damn glossy screens. My wifes laptop has one, it drives me insane!

Get a matte screen film, problem solved. Seriously, "glossy screens noooo!" is one of the most pointless complaints I've ever heard. You can fix it for a few bucks, and in the meantime, those of us who want the additional clarity that comes with not having a factory-installed matte filter on our displays can be happy too.

I hated glossy screens, too. After a couple of days with my awesome new MBP I barely notice it.

... I'm aware that they don't come with matte screens. I use an aluminum 13" MB, thanks.

My point is that you can buy a matte film to place on a glossy screen if you hate the gloss, while those of us who prefer the gloss can still have it. This is a better arrangement than having factory-applied matte filters across the board.

Wolf did you buy the Dual Link DVI adapter to go with your 3008? I'm debating getting mine for my 3007WFP-HC. Looks great man, congrats! :D

Y'know, you read my mind, Sandman. ;) I, too, have been wondering whether to buy that adapter. My only gripe about the new MBPs was switching from a built-in DVI to a mini DisplayPort. I'm not thrilled about dropping $100 on the adapter, especially considering all the complaints about it on Apple's site.

I just bought that adapter...and holy shit it sucks. I'm getting all those weird lines & pixel breaking that engadget & gizmodo were talking about. I'm returning it tomorrow. Shit sucks man, don't bother.

Monoprice has those adapters for a lot cheaper now.

They dont. I dont think there is an alternative to the mDP to dual link DVI thats not the apple one. I was debating for a long time that i wanted the 30" ACD, but it looks like im gonna have to get the new 24" ACD once i get the funds. I really want a 30", but i dont want to deal with the drama that is the mDP to dual link DVI.

Just picked up a MacBook. I've fallen in love with Apple. <3

My Apple collection,

MacBook
iPhone
iPod

Just picked up a 15inch macbook pro for the parents.

Fixed.

But yeah, my mom is asking for a Laptop now, there's no way I'm going to teach her OS X though, she doesn't even understand that her email is on the internet, and not the computer itself, that she can access it from any computer... anywhere...

She has enough trouble with XP on 3 of her school computers, a new OS is out of the question, no matter how easy it is for everyone else, it won't be for her.

So you're using the Cinema at 19x12 then or is it a new mini?

I hope someone makes a terrible paint image in the meantime of a mac mini and a cinema display lol.

I figured I would revive this thread with my work setup. I work at a small advertising/design/web agency where I do all the web development.

Nice looking setup. Seems like a great place to get some work done, or take work with you.

I like that wallpaper; could you post it up for download, or link to where you found it?

Thanks man! Yea it's an awesome place to work, I love it here. I tend to do a lot of work on the go - tether my phone and I'm good!

Yea sure - ill upload it in just a few. Any specific size? I think I found it on interfacelift.

Sorry for the quality of this pic, but its form my iphone. This is my current work setup. Not shown is an X200 as my windows based machine.

Heh, I've got this image in ikea desks, lcd's and more, but it's a Mac setup, so over here it goes! :)

A couple of quick snaps of mine, may re-take them with a real camera in a bit:

Mac Pro 2008, 2.8Ghz 8-core, 30" ACD, flanked by dual Dell 2007FPs, currently booted into Vista.

Then a 15" MacBook Pro setup for audio-creation/iPhone app testing (hence the original iPhone, 3G, 2G Touch and 3GS sitting there).
