This is my cpu at 45 with very high stress. Ambient temps are 69 F. The hyper 212+ is starting to show its colors at such a high mulit (relative to stock(x33) and not other peoples Multipliers/real world overclock achievments) I am happy though When I bought the system I though I would not get to 45 with out water but I did.
(My voltages are atcually 1.355 with a DVID of +0.090. At load it hovers around 1.396-1.404
    [IMG]] yeah I will

Mine topped out at 58C, this was taken right before it finished:

Running a 2500k at 4.6ghz @ 1.35v, cooler is a Corsair H50 with two Scythe AP-15's in push/pull, but each is running at half speed. The higher record temps are from Prime95 :p

Will do. I definitely have some adjustments to make. I also have a spare xspc rs240 that I'm thinking of throwing into the loop just because I can.

Hey guys, I just got a new system put together (in sig) and have of course started the joyous process of overclocking/stress testing/benchmarking. One of the main stress test I've been running and after reading this thread I'm kind of stumped.

I have my memory set to 2133@1.5v and the fastest I can get IBT to run the standard 10x test is 183.xx seconds. My CPU is clocked at 4.6 at present. Is there something that I'm missing here?

Make sure you have Windows 7 SP1 update to enable Sandy Bridge memory performance tweaks. What is your memory timings? Tighter memory the better performance.

CPU-Z url verification? Screen shots? Are you sure you OC isn't dropping under load? Run CPU-Z or the latest Real Temp to monitor CPU speed during load.

I have screenshots of my ITB runs (CPUZ/HWmonitor)in thread below this one. I'd link them now but I'm at work. But for now I can say I haven't messed with timings yet. They're still set at 11-11-11-28-1. I was going to start messing with them last night, but my wife was hot on my ass about coming to bed...haha.

I have a 2600k @ 4.3ghz with a hyper 212+ w/ single stock fan and my load temps are about 65 but i noticed my idle temps are alot higher than most peoples here even those with 212s.
My idle temps are around 40 and everyone else seems to be high 20s to low 30s. Are you guys running the fan at max speed all the time? I use the asus q fan but even when i turned it off the lowest I could get my idle temps was about 37. I tried reseating the heatsink and it did help with load temps but idle remains the same.

Depending on what I have my voltages set at mine are 35-40C...meh, oh well, from everything I've read it's load temps that matter.

I am not even sure that the thermal sensors on Intel processors are very accurate at under 45C. You see a lot of posts with stuck sensors ...

Thanks man! This is why setting [H] to my "home" page is the first thing I do after I dl Firefox...only bad thing is, I found out that my OEM version of W7 is not gonna work with my new build. Fkn M$!!!

Edit: btw it was because I wasn't running SP1...not only were my IBT times cut in 1/2, but my CPU temps went up by 5°C YAY!...wait a minute. :-P

Am I the only one who finds it odd, that all the i5 2500k's we see here do >100Gflops where my i7 920 with eight threads at 4 GHz did ~50Gflops and the i7 3930k with 12 threads at 4.8GHz did ~75Gflops?

I think the difference is not having/using HT versus using HT with all physical and virtual cores being used.

This is about the max my chip will do with the cooling solution I've got. 4.8+ gets extra wonky and I don't want my temps going any higher than this for everyday use.

Dropped my CPU multi and Vcore to lessen temps and have decided to keep these settings for everyday use/gaming...boohoo. :(

Man I must say that I'm 1000% tickled pink with this CPU/Mobo/RAM. I've always "had" to build AMD systems due to being a budget conscious person and while I struggled to keep my x2 550 then 1090t at 3.8ghz I watched people with these 1155/6's hitting 4+ like it was a cakewalk. One 2 hour drive to Microcenter and >$400 later I'm trying to tame this beast! WOOT!!! What's even better is that I haven't even started to do what I bought the sytsem for (besides tinkering) and that's GAME!!! SHYES!!!

edit- Oh and if you haven't picked up a set of this Samsung memory that is flying under the proverbial radar...DO IT!!! bumped the voltage from 1.3 to 1.5 and voila!!! 2133/10-10-10-28

Kind of new to this overclocking thing. Would you guys say these temps/voltage are safe for a everyday use? I have an antec 620 liquid cooler and 2 120mm fans for cooling.

It's becoming much harder and requiring much more voltage to push past 3.8 but I'm still working on it. This all mind you, while my only 120mm exhaust fan is dead lol. Basically there is no or little exhaust movement except from my CPU fan going out the case. Once I pick up a new fan I'm curious to see how far it'll drop the temps, if at all.

I took the screenshot right after it finished. My temps hovered in the high 60's and mid 70's. One core peaked at 80c for a split second. This is my first over clock and I'm pretty happy with it so far.

    Intel Core i7-3930K @ 4.4
    ASUS Sabertooth X79
    SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7970 3GB
CORSAIR Professional Series Gold AX1200 (
    Corsair Obsidian Series 650D
Corsair Force Series GT 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive
    CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
    COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 EVO

I plan on using it for gaming for the new few years for up to 12 hours a day. Will my overclock be stable enough for this type of use?

Seems to be on the high side for only running the Standard test. Before I switched from the 212+ to an Antec Kuhler 620, my 2500K was hitting 69-70 C on the Very High test @ 4.2 Ghz.

it is a little high my particular i5 seems to be rather fussy and needs 1.35~volts to get to 4.3  or i am dumb but I can't get this thing stable at 4.3 with less volts.

also I am sort of super sensitive to noise so i replaced the fans with 2x Gelid Silent 12 PWM fans which are 1500RPM max and I think if i'm honest probably move a bit less air than the CM stock fan. My case is a Gigabyte Triton 180 that I replaced the 2 stock fans with Gelid Silent 12 fans as well the airflow in the trition isn't the best evar if I take the side panel off the temps drop 3-4C but WAF would be low running without side panel and I have cats who would doubtlessly like to stick their faces inside the computers.

So yeah...it is a bit high but it is totally safe temps and so for the low noise (the fans are nearly silent event at full load... in fact the only thing that gets loud is my 6870 which is loud while gaming but that is fine cause i game with headphones ;)) I live with it for now.

the higher than average temps are why i stopped @ 4.3 cause it seems like this i5-2500k was going to be a massive pain in the a** to go higher with.

ill join in with my SR2 :D

2x L5639s, under Cogage True's, single AP-15 at full speed, ambient is ~78f or so. Not even hitting 50c on the hottest core, goal is to make sure its nice and stable with ~1.1v into the CPU's, working on tweaking volts and what not, the chips run stable @ 3.3 Ghz not an issue, just more heat output than i feel like dealing with.

Heres my temps. I didn't see any other Q9000 CPUs listed. I run at 3.6Ghz and have had trouble pushing much past 3.8Ghz. I ran this with my fans 100% and then again with fans off. Seems odd the delta is only about 10 degrees. It's probably around 20c in my room. Maybe this is because with the PSU fan running it must suck air through my front 120mm radiator, and my 240mm rad on the top might loose some heat as it rises up out of the case?

No fans (all radiator fans off) except PSU fan and two low speed 80mms on back of case.

One from those "other" guys :) It's a 5 core 960T Zosma, max temp during test was 57c, normal loads/games/video encoding doesn't exceed 50C. Not as fast as those i7s but its still way faster than what the majority of people have. Cooling is via XSPC RS360 Kit, with Yate Loon high speeds in push/pull on the rad mounted to the top of my case.

Actually the limiting factor for my overclock is the VRMs :( I need to get a block because anything past this they thermal throttle and cut my clock, it's stable at 4.4, but the VRMs won't let me pull a full load for more than 3 or 4 minutes that high.

well..... so yeah in a perfect world.. u inspired me to look @ my rig again.. sadly much as I said before any efforts to drop the voltage below 1.35 are met with BSODs

so it seems i have two choices live with it or buy a new board or cpu ;) neither of which i feel like doing

ran ibt on very high temps 65 75 77 76 max

not great.. but i can't really do anything about it ... when i first got this thing and had more than expected trouble getting even to 4.3 i reseated the stupid hyper212+ (TWICE) and messed about trying to get it to cooperate...

in the casino of oc i seem to be standing on 19 not hitting 21... sometimes that is just how it goes.

i live in socal so the ambient temps in the house are 21~C .. not going to win any Internets for mad l33t oc but the temps aren't going to hurt the i5 anytime soon ..and as I say i don't think i can do nuthin about them if i want 4.3 this i5-2500K is just sort of ass to some extent it seems.

IRL the cpu doesn't get much past mid 50s in games just IBT and or linx that have pushed it into the 70s.... MEH...

maybe next upgrade I'll finally get some OC luck but i have a amusingly consistent record of getting poor oc'ing cpus..

Nice temps. Details? What kind of fans are now on your 120 & 3x120 rads? Looks like you went from push/pull to a single row on each rad. Are they pushin or pullin? Noise levels?

I'll DL and run the test on my rig tonight. I'm looking at replacing my H70 with a 2x120 + a 1x120. Hoping to get results similar to a single 3x120 and I'm putting the GPU on water as well.

Good thread. I have a question for posters. Hows the noise on yer rigs? The reason I used to go extreme water/peltier/phase change cooling was to eliminate massive fan noise. When I see the CM Hyper 212+ (the best cost performance HS IMHO) performing on par with similar CPU/OC'd water cooled units I get a mental image of 2 sunon fans spinning at 10k rpm sounding like a shop vac in push~pull to achieve it. :p

Soooo... hows the noise levels under load guyz?

The new fans on the 360 HWLABS Stealth GT Radiator are Feser Triebwerk V2 TK-123 120mm x 55mm High Speed Fan - 2800 RPM. There 3 of them and they are pulling. Feser states these fans in pulling is the best configuration.

On top 120mm fans there will be 2 Scythe DFS123812H-3000 120mm Ultra Kaze Series 3000RPM push/pull on the 120 HWLABS Stealth GTX Radiator.

On ful speed duing benchmarks the cooling is great and it is noisey. I have a Lamptron 50W per channel x4 fan controller that I am using to power and control the fans. AT full speed it's noisy. Fans can be adjusted to operate much more quiet but I don't know how many dba.

Overall I'm very happy with the new Triebwerk fans. The motor on the fans sounds quieter than the scythe but the fans create a different type of air noise. The new fans cool off everything much better now.

don't know if this is any good, I went the lazy way and hit the Autotune button in the ASUS software, stopped it once it reached 4.5GHz.

    Board: ASUS Maximus IV Gene-z/Gen3
    Mem: Crucial Ballistix at 1374 / 7-7-7-24
Cooling: H80 with stock fans in push/pull at medium fan profile.
    Case: Chieftec midi tower, closed
    Intake temp: 27C

One thing I did notice was the VID in CoreTemp hits 1.39v under full load during the tests

    Standard run, 10x

I just upgraded from my i7 920 to a 3930k on a Asus Rampage IV Formula. I have it clocked at 4.7GHz atm with 1.37vcore and LLC on "High". I was suprised that this chip doesn't run hotter, but then again, this setup was able to tame my power hungry 920 quite well.

EDIT: Notice that it's on maximum load and not standard that many people in this thread seem to be running. On standard I get like 52c compared to the temperatures in the image above.
