EVGA totally surprised me with their rebate a few months ago. I got an email saying it was received just two weeks after I sent it, and then I got a check a week later.. I sent out 7 other rebates at the same time and have only received one other (OCZ, and I actually sent it out later than the other rebates).. It's been more than 12 weeks now :( Don't think I'm going to get them heh.

 
Hey, thanks a bunch for the "good deals" on the GPU prices. I just wish I had more money at this time (hock the cat, nahh....,maybe the old "piggy type bank" trick, nahh, can't get blood, err.. I mean money out of an empty rock err..I mean piggy bank :rolleyes:).

I'm also eagerly waiting on the "master" of good deals to post, Crazy Larry. :D

Had one of these in my hands at a BB last night but they would only accept $199 for it not $149. So i decided to wait since I believe $199 is suggested retail.

Yup, heck of a situation. BestBuy is in the middle of a "25% off all Visiontek" sale and ATI goes and launches the 4850 early.

Maybe we should wait to see what the 4850 can do in F@H before buying these cards. They aren't cheaper than a 8800GT and the 8800GTX will soon drop to the same price. Unless performance in games is a major consideration, I'd try to get some PPD and CPU utilization figures first.

Exactly. Looking at the power consumption of the new 9800GTX+, it looks like that might just be the way to go.

It's so good to see ATI back in a position to challenge NVIDIA. They fight...we win!

The ECS N8800GT looks to be a dual-slot card judging from the height of the cooler. It must be great for OC, though. Too bad Newegg doesn't ship to Canada (for whatever reasons).

It's an aftermarket cooler called the Arctic Cooling Accelero S1, you can usually find it for $20-$25 on sale from NCIX every few weeks: Link.

I plan to add one to my new 8800 GT as I believe XFX still honours warranty after heatsink removal and I can get one cheap from a guy at work.

For mine, nothing beat a EK full cover block for 49$ at NCIX :D

Granted it force me to build a whole new WC setup for 250$ but it's worth the expense since it's a htpc where quietness is paramount.

Yup, and it's an f'n sweet cooler. I've got one on my 8800GT with a low speed 120mm fan (fan from a Scythe Ninja Rev B) and even with a pretty hefty overclock (core at 750, shaders at 1850), core temp peaks at about 41C.

Hint on what has worked for me from Newegg... buy their open boxed item.. and send it in for a rebate.

both their Zotac and MSI 8800GT's have rebates which make them at 104 to 109 each.. that is dirt cheap!

I just added 12k PPD to my farm or higher! for about 350... that is some serious PPD for cheap! Look out Xil! I'm gunin for ya!

Open box items from Newegg come in the factory box with a valid UPC?

I am planning on buying a 8800 gt (or equivalent) in the next month or so for my secondary folding box. I was running a X1900XT in that machine until Stanford killed off the 19xx series Folding GPU client.

I am in the process of selling off some surplus computer parts on Ebay to help raise capital for this purchase.

Yes all of mine have come in original boxes with UPC.
