Possibly new Rare game?

Rare has changed their website to show a countdown timer and the slogan "one in a million". Obviously, the timer is set to the Microsoft E3 press conference. I know their recent games haven't exactly been good, but part of me still holds on to the fact that at one point this company was putting out games that became staples of my video game youth left and right lol (Killer Instinct, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Banjo-Kazooie, Conker's Bad Fur Day, etc). While it's doubtful, a part of me hopes they can pull off a comeback. I'm thinking this one will definitely be a Natal title (Natal is the major focus of the MS event afterall), and l think it will likely be a new IP too. Thoughts?

yeah your Natal prediction sounds about right. Though I will admit Conker's Bad Fur Day was one of the funnest games I played on N64. Even the multiplayer was a blast. My friends and I played that game all the time. Plus it had a great story mode.
 
Ok lets get something straight, just about every Rare game this generation has been great, minus say PDZ which was ported from Gamecube, to Xbox, the ported to the 360 as a launch title.

Putting that aside, Rare has had 3 internal studios, all of which haven't released a game in 2 years now. 1 of these studios hasn't released a game since 2006.. they're due. Now in 2009 Rare expanded again, opening a 4th internal studio just for Natal games.. so thats 4 Rare studios now.. and no new game since 2008. No new announcements since like ... 2007.

Rare is going to be at E3 this year, and I'm expecting atleast 2 game announcements. 1 large Natal title (probably the single game MS is going to push to move hardware) and 1 core title to release this fall.

6 days and we find out.

edit. The core title is not a new IP, it'll be a sequel to an old franchise.
 
For Christ's sake just let it be Killer Instinct, Banjo sucked in my opinion. Rare hasn't show dick since purchased by MS honestly. To much kiddy crap if you ask me since they've been with MS.

All it seems like they've done is design avatar's:(

Just bring back Conker and KI, but it won't happen because MS is too focused right now on grabbing the casual audience with Natal from Nintendo.

This coming from a guy who hasn't even played Banjo, let alone any other Rare game on the 360. Next time try a little harder.

Don't think I've ever finished PDZ... and I got it at Zero Hour. Think I'll go back and do that tonight.
 
Rare has had alot of internal problems, hence the constant delays from just about everything since Nintendo gave them the boot. They really need to figure that shit out, like, today, before they fade into obscurity. I read a really detailed article about them about a year ago. Hopefully they figured it out.

Did Nintendo boot them, or did Microsoft just buy them up?

From what I remember, Nintendo didn't want them anymore, put them up for sale and thats when MS bought them.

EDIT: Put their STAKE up for sale. Nintendo owned 49% of Rareware till MS bought it from them.

sign me up for another killer instinct, though really I just hope the game is not a turd like banjo nuts and bolts. nuts and bolts was a great concept until I played it for about two hours :(

Wow man you got me lol, Noid I know your big on the Xbox but the time it took for you to this background research on my gameplay habits is kinds odd.

It's sad though that your attempt to come off as Intelligent failed pretty bad. And since you attempt to be all knowledgeable about all that is Xbox you would know that when your LIVE account email settings change so does the tracking of the games you've played.:p

And I played the demo for Banjo, but that probably escaped your mine as well, and Kameo I bought at launch and I did not have an account on Live when I 1st purchased my 360 the other Rare games are below taken from my phone. You must have taken me for the guy that's just trying to start shit and not basing my OPINIONS on fact.

Protip : Don't fuckin' attempt to call out someone until you have all the facts, everyone is entitled to there opinion, even if you don't like it.

i agree w/ KI. fighting games are making a comeback now that SF4 was so popular. I know MK has steady releases but the whole 3d fighting wasn't popular. back to the 2d roots!
 
Its probably Kinect Sports. Kinect being the official name for Natal.
