I'm sure this will devolve into some kind of fanboy war, but it certainly shouldn't. What I'm more interested in is which games that are super popular, AND critically acclaimed, do you just hate? It's one thing to say "I hate something popular" when it's some popular shit like N'sync or New Kids on the Block. We all know shit can sell in the millions. But what about popular and critically acclaimed? Here are my main offenders:
For the xbox:
Halo series, especially #3. These are like the definition of generic to me. I can't stand them either MP or SP. Critics who gush over these games should lose their right to use the internet.
GTA4 - Terrible mission system, hackneyed cliche ridden story that people call "high art", stupid friendship system, and seemingly immune to criticism by lazy writers who fight each other over who can gush more. Also, niko belic looks like a character from LOTR, certainly not like an actual human.
Bioshock - Just read the zero punctuation review and you'll have it. Too easy, too pretentious without any real depth, predictable design, and the "moral choice" that's touted through the game isn't any more complicated or innovative than 20 year old dialogue trees. Do A or B isn't a serious moral choice that has lasting consequences. Sorry.
PS3:
MGS - Stealth gameplay does nothing for me, And pretentious storylines that are insanely juvenile, but considered high art by internet denizens and 15 year olds.
LBP - Bad platforming with amazing graphics and set and background design, but at the end of the day it's a floaty jumping game with 99,999,998 bad levels made by retards and 2 good ones that I still don't want to play, because of point number one.
