Ok, maybe poor is an overstatement, but I'm definetly disappointed. I pieced together a system that almost cost 3k and its just not performing on the level I expected.
Core components are Asus X800 XT PCI Express, P4 3.4GZ and 2GB of pc4200 memory. I did the video stress test in Counter Strike Source and barely managed 38.9fps. I'm running at 1280x1024 with everything on high and I at least expected to get 60fps.
I ran Doom 3 on Ultra (I know, they want 512 video memory) and only managed 25-30fps at the most. Far Cry gave me better results with everything maxed and I was hitting around 40-55fps.
Still, for the money I spent and the configuration, seems like I'd be doing better. Is there anything I should look into tweaking, maybe in the Catalyst control panel? Are there any main settings in there holding me back? Thanks for your suggestions.
