Hey,
I just built a new system. The major specs are as follows:
AMD 4400+ x2 (stock speeds + cooler)
BFG 7800GTX OC (460/1300)
2x512 OCZ Platinum edition Rev2 (PC3200)
A8N-SLI Premium MB
Now here's he problem... I'm a gamer and play competitively.
The only game I'm playing at the moment and have installed
is CS:S. Before I start the game I set the affinity for all the
running processes to CPU 0. Once the game is started I mimize
and set the affinity for hl2.exe to cpu 1 so the game is only running
on the one core. Am I doing this correctly?
I can play the game for a while and I'm fine but eventually it freezes.
I cannot CTRL-ALT-DEL out of it. I have to turn the power off and restart.
For those of you that play CS:S it locks up the same as it does when
you exec a cfg, where the sound keeps repeating the same thing over
and over, except it does not unfreeze.
So my question is how do I isolate the problem? I've run prime for 24 hours
straight with 0 errors/warnings. I've run 3dmark05 3 times in a row. I've tried
memtest (windows version). I don't know what to do!?! Please help me isolate
this problem. Any help is appreciated.
PS I have flashed both BIOS's (1006 final + 1008 beta) and the same thing happens.
