Planetside 2

So I got some station cash, got the 7 day exp booster, and now I have the flashing screen glitch/bug. I went to look this up and the developers are it on video cards overheating, wtf.

The developers need to start putting in some 16 hour days to fix all the problems this game has right now.

Runs fairly well on my 2500K@4.4 and 670. Getting some slowdowns which my eyes dont like but it is playable and a fun game type. Huge battles.

There are new beta drivers out on the nvidia website for PlanetSide 2. Try those yet?

They already are, they can hardly keep the servers up right now. And fixing server crashing bugs.

after 15 hrs of gameplay i finally broke down and bought 1month premium membership, infantry combat feels kinda clunky compared to RO2, no lean no cover button, movement feels delayed, like running inside a Titan(BF2142's most popular game mode) at 40fps, tried the "reduce input lag option" but it didn't help, the only real "fix" is to pump >=60fps constant

It's looks kinda compicated during first 2-3 hours, continents certs squads instant action tug of war capture system etc, but once you get familiar with most of the gameplay mechanics you will be hooked ! the game has TONS of potential

BATTLEFIELD 2002-2012
Rest In Pieces :D

Played 4 hours yesterday. One very fun game.
Did take some time to get use to whats going on. No real tutorial anywhere. Web site had some training videos.
Ran like a dream. But then i have a beast of a system to run it though.

Played for the second time last night, for a few hours, with about five other real life friends. Was pretty damn fun. Driving a tank into battle, hopping out, and obliterating everyone was a good time. I prefer sniping in any FPS (I was an AWP whore in CS, and L96 was my weapon of choice in BF3), so I perched up on a mountain, taking aim at peoples' heads and got a 12-or-so person kill-streak. :D Think I went 40-something to 5 KD:R by the time it was time for bed.

Kinda funny, a bunch of people had just rushed into our base in one of those tank things and hopped out. I shot one dude in the face, and of course a medic was reviving him, but I shot the medic in the head since he was just standing there. Then another medic happened by, starting reviving him, and I shot him in the head. Rinse and repeat several times before I got spotted. :p

Went ahead and bought $10 worth of station cash. I also discovered the area where you can unlock scopes/grips/etc. Can't wait to get home and try out my new toys.

Has anyone had problems using a controller? I have a Logitech joystick. It shows up fine in windows, but the game doesn't see it. I can't bind anything to it.

Can I switch squads? I want to find one with real squad leader.

Hit "p" then you can leave the your current squad from that screen, good luck finding a squad with a squad leader who does anything though.

Thank you!
So, I press P, leave squad and then press Insert to join any squad? Or can Is elect squad from Squad list?
I would not mind to join some outfit but it seems all requires playing every day. I play only during weekend.

I tried to be a good squad leader myself but people do not follow my order. Same shit as Battle Field :)

There isnt much point to joining a squad with strangers, everyone pretty much just zergs one direction or another. It is pretty awesome watching a group of 20 or so start getting bigger and bigger until you have a good 100+ swarming one objective after another.

I guess the problem I have with that is I've never seen anyone actually successfully defend a base. The people in the base should have an advantage but it doesn't appear that way

They do have closer spawns and acess to vehicle spawns etc. and a few mounted weapons. But the problem seems to be, no one really wants to defend anything. All you do is sit there, shooting an endless stream of people until the stream of people becomes too much. You do seem to get more xp and stuff just blowing stuff up and capturing other things. Maybe they could add better xp bonuses for holding an objective? But that still wouldn't help that it's just more fun to swarm bases blowing up reactors than camp on a wall stopping the tide. I've only ever seen one battle for a segment with balanced sides (and that was because that team was down to a few territories). :D

Using a logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick. I've had only 1 problem with it and it wasn't the keybinding. It did that flawlessly.

The problem I have is the sensitivity is way too high. I turned the joystick sensitivity to almost the lowest setting before I figured out that the mouse vehicle setting seems to be tied to the joystick sensitivity setting also. I lowered that slider a little bit and its perfect now.

Flame me all you want about flying these things with a joystick. I can't stand flying with a mouse. It feels too un-intuitive for me. I know I can't pull the same maneuvers as the KB/M guys, so I've tailored my flying style more for hit and run. I won't be an Ace pilot, but at least it's fun for me this way.

What little info I can find suggests its a Windows 8 thing.

Biggest problem with alternating contorl methods is the gap between them. When you're not flying you have to move the big controllers out the way and use the kb/m, and transition between the two. Then get them back when you want to fly again. So it's kind of a PITA unless you have the right setup. But still you'll have to transition rather than have an all in one approach. :D

This game is a shit-ton of fun with a group of friends. Riding around in a sunderer from point to point, killing bitches and taking bases.

The infantry is pretty bad though. I can walk through squads of people in this game. Weird. I would think the player base to be a little better. It feels like I am playing against bunch of WoW players trying something different? I mean, they are BLIND. You can rape tons of them before anyone realizes you are around.

Plus, you can hear footsteps. Nice.

Its not so much that as people are typically very bad at any game. For example, yesturday I decided to go out by myself and wander around in enemy territory. Saw there was an assult on one of our bases going on so went to investigate. Came across this bunch of enemies on a ridge. They were all facing the other way so I thought, ok I can knife one or two...

Knife the medic first of all as he's at the back. No one turns around... Shoot an infiltrator and a heavy assult in the back... nothing. But am out of bullets (or energy whatever it is), so have to knife the next one, (one of those armored ones with guns arms I can't remember the name of, and an engineer. the robot gun eventually turns around and blasts me a few times before going down to the mightly knife.

So at that point i'm pretty low on health. But continue knifing, working my way along the rows of 1337 snipers. Eventually my own team shoot me. :D

most of the problem is lack of communication. the in game voip sucks like most games but even more so in PS2(really 3 fucking buttons just to communicate through ingame voip? wtf were they thinking). but i pretty much turn off voip because there is always some retard screaming over it just to annoy everyone and muting them is a pain in the arse. but hey at least they fixed the engine so its actually playable now at 30-40fps.

btw the units you were thinking of are called max's.

PITA for you maybe...

My stuff is laid out wider than my 24" monitor. I have a massive L-shaped desk, so it is easy for me to spread out. When gaming, I never move my keyboard, joystick, or my mouse. There is plenty of room for all 3.

Far left is my keyboard. WASD is about 6" left of the left side of my monitor, arrow keys sit dead center of the monitor. I started doing this after really long gaming sessions and my left wrist started hurting. Keeping the keys out that far means my wrist and hand are in perfect straight alignment. It only gets goofy when I need to type in chat, but I usually don't type novels in the chat window so it really isn't a problem. I move the keyboard more to the center when I'm not gaming.

The right side of my joystick is aligned with the right side of my monitor. Since I sit about 2 feet from my monitor, the stick itself is just slightly out of my FOV on the monitor.

Directly next to my joystick on the right side is my mouse and pad. I'm a high sens player, so I like barely moving my mouse to move a great deal. It's also easier on my right wrist. I find it really easy for me to be precise even when the sensitivity is super-high. I developed that talent when I used AutoCAD with shitty mice. I got real good at picking out and selecting miniscule details on a 3D model when zoomed in to thousandths of inches. If I need even more accuracy (e.g. sniping), I switch to a lower DPI setting on my Logitech G500 mouse.

What OS are you using?

Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Says so right in my sig. ;)

Anyone else think the VS weapons are a bunch of overpowered peices of shit?

I literally melt everytime I get hit by one, gets so annoying at times. Granted I kill my fair share of VS, and what seems like taking one shot from an enemy...game over. Now its not just infantry VS weapons, its all their weapons (vehicles, infy, aircraft).

I played mostly TR in PS1 but wanted to give NC a try this time around. Never have liked the VS ... at all so I guess Im biased.

Also, does anyone know when the physx will be coming back?

Wow, it's so strange how performance experience seems to be black and white... On one side, people are getting +60 fps with a bit of a slowdown in large fights, and on the other side, people get 20-30FPS no matter what the settings are.

I'm in the low performance group... At High, I get 30fps average. Changing "Graphics quality" seems to give the biggest performance increase however. I don't know why the game runs so slow, it doesn't even look at good...

I guess I'll wait until a few more patches come out for proper optimization.

IMO the TR guns are the most difficult to counter at range as NC. They seem to have NO recoil and just hose you from 70+ yards away.

Loved this game so much I sub'ed. Watch BuzzCutPhyscho streams on Twitch at work, would be cool if [H] had a squad. Lonewolfing is fun, but gang raping bases with a huge squad is the tits sometimes.

It would help, when you have XP people do whatever is most effective at getting it. If you have a problem in the game the worst thing you want to do is make it even worse by giving no incentive t fix it.

Team stacking was horrid like this in BF3 and Tribes Ascend, you would level up way faster by winning and people who did not think it through would say that it would fix the game because people would care about doing the right thing to win, but all people did was figure if they stacked it would not matter.

exact sensitivity settings and keybinds plz ? haven't used my 3d pro since 2006 :p

LOL. They've been crunching 16's for months trying to get the game out. Give them a week to relax.

Given the state of the game, they don't deserve a week to relax, they released an unfinished and buggy product. It sucks to experience some new glitch/bug, go onto their forums and find out that glitch/bug has been around for months.

I find it extremely overwhelming. I only put a few hours into it, but even understanding the map can be a real job. The buildings are much too big and pointless for most part. Lots of mayhem.

I was playing and we got beaten right back real hard, but then we pushed them back and they left us alone for about 10min, so we rolled out in a huge convoy with half a dozen tanks, as many APCs and air cover. I dont know how many players were in that convoy, but it looked like over a hundred. We were able to move to a number of objectives and kick some serious ass. I guess its one of those teamwork things, but I dont even hear people on VOIP. I donno, Im gonna give it a run with a bunch of my mates.

Make sure voip is enabled and volume is appropriate. I always hear comm chatter. Well at least in the beta. Have not played the final game too much yet.

Despite the things that need ironing out - such as balance, and crappy perma-FXAA - I'm thoroughly enjoying my time with the NC. Though NC seems completely unable to grab and hold territory on my server, my love for close quarter combat and slow powerful guns makes it the faction for me.
Played around with the Infiltrator's Shadow scout rifle on trial yesterday, and damn what a gun

I kinda regretted buying the Lasher gun at first, but it has really grown on me when I assault structures. There is something satisfying about firing away into a doorway and having the splash damage start taking people out. The 50% exp boost I got really compliments the gun too, since the splash damage pretty much guarantees I get a lot of assists.

Boohoo my free game has a few bugs

Lots of people pay for the game in the form of xp / boosters, I think its so silly how people try to make an excuse out of everything in a game because it could be free if you had no job and had unlimited time. But it does not make any sense when the people who pay get the same exact bugs.

That does not mean that I expect a game to be 100% bug free, but I am just pointing out that being F2P should have nothing to do with your judgement of a game. F2P games probably make just as much money if not more than many paid games. They would not be jumping on that bandwagon if no one was making money.

Game is new and the population is therefore new. Give the player base time to get used to playing the game. Its no 16 vs 16 match on BF3.
