No thanks. $15 for what 5 mostly old maps? No wonder they didn't release an editor... they know their players could make way better maps for free.

I am not sure why "Oh they were least skipped!" "More new than old!" nullifies what I said.

If you disagree with me, then buy them and go crazy. I have zero issues with people enjoying or paying for the DLC. However I haven't seen anything that makes those maps special or worth payment. I have played games and seen awesome mods and maps that certainly (imo) rival those. Because of this I think the idea that a community for a game is incapable of making good maps is stupid and inconsistent with history. Again, if you disagree with me that is fine. However you should post some real reasons and not just "YOU ARE WRONG!".

Well if you would say statements that was actually true we wouldn't have to say "YOU ARE WRONG!". you want us to nullify it?

2old and 3new. being that 3>2 your statement is wrong. "least skipped maps" well that proves that the community that plays enjoys the maps or they would skip them.

To say that the community could put out "way better maps" is just stupid. I'm not saying the community could not put out good maps or even great maps, but you cannot compare the average amateur developer to a professional. I believe I am a good golfer, but if i played against tiger woods’ i would get smoked.

You are just being ignorant, I am assuming you do not even play the game (probably one of those who boycotted the game cause of no DS) and have no idea the quality of maps that are even on there. Even if you have, have you looked at the new maps? How would know that they are shitty, or below average quality if you haven't?

The point being, In a matchmaking system like MW2 (please don't bring up DS, it’s not there, get over it) there is no way community made maps would work. it is simple as that, every map has to be well made and well balanced.

If you presented an actual argument against it we would not have to say "YOU ARE WRONG"

i did not miss the argument at all. Are we turning this into a "No DS for MW2" Thread or is this about the DLC? When talking about MW2's DLC you have to relate it to the system it uses, Of coarse it would be different if it had DS, but it doesn't, So 1000 maps would not work with the system it uses.

EVERYONE KNOW'S BY NOW THERE ARE NO DEDICATED SERVERS FOR PC. PLEASE STOP BEATING THE DEAD HORSE

-Again, 1000+ custom maps would not work on match making, The designers of these maps did a fantastic job, they made every map very balanced and they are probably the best maps on the game. They are better than any amateur could have done in a reasonable time frame. I feel that they deserve to get paid for their work. This is the future of gaming and you can cry about it if you want, but before to long, all DLC's in any game will cost money.

Logic failure.

Activision $DLC is better than community made maps, but even if community made maps are better than $DLC, matchmaking and removal of DS means that community made maps cannot be supported, therefore $DLC is better than community made maps given that Activision specifically removed the ability to have community made maps even though community made maps are better than $DLC.

And if this is the future of gaming, it is only because there are suckers like you who do not mind being bent over and anally assaulted by corporations who think they can bleed the consumer to death for every nickel and dime in his wallet. You think $15 for 3 maps is good value for money? More power to you, I and probably many others would prefer to direct that amount of money towards the purchase of a new game.

Activision have successfully killed off the guitar hero franchise, watch how quickly the call of duty franchise hits the wall.

Why are still on this, no DS was been beatin to death, it's not happening, why does all of a sudden the DLC bring it back up? of coarse they did it for personal gain, thats business for you. but this thread is for people who own the game, out of those people who is buying the DLC. Of coarse if you don't play or own MW2 you are not going to buy the DLC.

Yea i do not mind spending 3 dollars per map, i get more enjoyment out of each map than i would anything else in the world for 3 dollars. Maybe im bias because $15 dollars is not that expensive to me. As much as gaming computers cost, i don't see why it is a problem to any of you. I would much rather pay 3 dollars and play high quality maps, than get hundreds of poorly made maps that ruin the game. Of coarse there would be a "hidden Gem" map made by some guy but it would not be worth playing hundreds of games to find it..

you know, you already have admitted that you're a console fanboy

it makes me wonder why you bother wasting your time on a computer hardware enthuaist forum, especially in the PC GAMING section. You are clearly not a PC gaming enthuaist, so you do not belong here.

you know there are console specific forums including the official ps3 and xbox 360 ones on other websites, right?

Console or not, 15 bucks for 4 maps(2 of which are old) is retarded.

If your gonna complain atleast get the numbers right, 3 new maps and 2 old so 5 maps for $15. Your value just increased by perception alone.

No you are just being pedantic about a difference of one.

And I own the game, stop trying to set me up as your straw man. Why would I post in a thread about a game I don't even own's DLC? I went out at midnight with a friend for the SE. The game was mostly a letdown to me, but I am not really discussing that here.

Stop bringing up match making if you want people to stop bringing up DC (for the record, I never did. You just keep pinning that argument on people who aren't making it for no logical reason at all). Even if I was going on about that, their matchmaking system being flawed is not my problem as a consumer and I will not say "Well this sucks but they chose it so its ok and I should pay them more just because". I have my opinion and you have yours. You aren't magically right, sorry if that bugs you. People are allowed to have opinions. I think that is a ripoff price for what I feel is mediocre content. You can get angry about that if you want, but my opinions are still my own and they are not 'wrong' just because you disagree with them.

So I saw some of Overgrown on my cousin's X360 and two spots I camp at (in COD4 pc) are now gone. :(

1. The roof of the small shed by the big hay bails.
2. Small gap by the library's rear exit behind the fence that looks across the creek bed directly into the hallway of the middle machine gun house.

Youtube vids already have shown the normal ways to get on top of the roofs. I guess I'll have to experiment with using my care package crate as an extra step to get to a higher position then.

2. Small gap by the library's rear exit behind the fence that looks across the creek bed directly into the hallway of the middle machine gun house.

this is a shame, that was a good position to hold. conversely, going prone in the room at end of that hall in the machine gun house was great for clearing campers at the library spot. i've tallied many kills in these two positions :(

Step 1: Claymore
Step 2: Smoke
Step 3: M203 Grenade @ that spot ;)
Step 4: One Man Army
Step 5: Repeat as needed.

I will buy if my other clan members do. I have been so pissed, since the free weekend it seems like there are alot more hackers.

I've spent over 300 hours in this game. Totally worth it for me.

The game shipped with 16 maps (and that's including rust) so and extra 5 maps is quite a few. You can argue whether it's worth your $15 (or $13.50), but I guarantee you I will spend way more than $15 worth of time playing the new maps.

Ah yes, the "no true scotsman" fallacy. Grow up.

I'm sure it can be worth it for people who play religiously or competetively, it just seems to me, for your average user, the price of admission is steep. I would have to compare it to the General Knoxx DLC for Borderlands, it clearly cost 2k more to develop it than 5 maps, and it costs less. I know, you will likely log more hours on these multiplayer maps. It doesn't change the fact that you paid more for developers to do less work.

I still haven't bought Knoxx, I know 2K corrected there issues with DRM, but was so turned off by all the problems my friends and I had with that game I might end up not getting it unless it goes on sale. So yeah, history, quality and personal choice play a factor here.

So, who cares. It's about the enjoyment you get out of the product. Do you base how much you're willing to spend on a movie based on its budget?

You also way underestimate the work that goes into creating maps that have to be well balanced across multiple game modes.

On its budget? Clearly no. On the amount of work that goes into it, yes. Like I said, if you play the game all the time, it's probably worth it. I made my point on why it isn't even close to worth it to me.

I don't underestimate the work that goes into making maps. I've made maps for FPS from Doom to UT2k4 and in between. Yes, there is work involved, but making 3 maps and porting 2 is very simple with the dev crew they have (had?). I mean, why can DICE do it for free?

And you are a clear MW2 hater. You bash every aspect of the game when you have stated you wont even try it out. You bash the game repeatedly on aspects that have nothing to do with DC. Why do you waste your time in threads related to a game that you clearly have no intentions on even playing. And yes i am aware of the other forums specifically designed for Xbox 360 and other consoles. i am even a member of some of those. That is yet another reason why i feel i more educated on MW2 than you are. My reasons for being of member of [H] is not your concern. Furthermore i would like to point out the fact that you clearly pick and choose your battles and dodge questions asking you to explain your reasonings on bashing certain topics.

166 hours here. I still play but mostly use a MP5K + Thumper class to gay around. It's fun. Won't be purchasing the pack though.

Wow, just wow . . .

I tried and tried, and I could not find any logical consistency or any kind of similiarity in your analogy, it was a total failure of such epic proportions that calling it a failure gives failures a bad name.

New levels are what keeps a game FRESH, that's the whole point of new levels, if you don't like them, nobody's pointing a gun at your head forcing you to play them. New levels have potential to extend the lifespan of a game, or increase it's popularity because of new levels.

Please, please, think before posting, especially if you're going to post an analogy.

It was a perfect analogy. Maybe you should think a little harder before posting yourself.

Getting near 200 hours. No idea how some people can play it so long!..
Pre-Ordered the map pack :)

Ok, since I'm clearly dumb and an idiot, explain what learning new levels has to do with paying money to go see a movie at the theater?

If you're saying you could go see one new movie at the theater for every new level you can learn, you're saying that spending $10 on a movie ticket + another $5-$10 on concessions is a better $/hour of entertainment than learning a new level, I say you're on crack.

You can go to the movie theaters all you want, but it costs you each time you want to see the movie, whereas with a new level, it costs you nothing if it's a community made map, it costs you something if you're a tool who pays for map packs.

Once agian, analogy fail!

Learning new levels has nothing to do with spending money to see a movie at the theaters.

Nope not gonna buy it, the last DLC I bought was Armory of General Knoxx, now that was worth the moneys. This is a joke, $15 bucks for 5 maps, 2 of which are rehashed from the original COD4, when the game was $60 bucks alone to begin with, they should be giving us free maps with patches, but then again the game is broken, hacks are everywhere...

yep.. it will just cause you to join a different lobby which is a bitch and half.. because it will constantly connect to a new lobby until it finds one that isnt playing the map you dont have..

I do not mind map packs but this occurrence you have mentioned has been something I have experienced for years on the Xbox. It is as if when most the people online buy the map pack, you are almost forced to.

Release today :) Looks like im going to be sitting on this game for a bit tonight :p

480MB update for multiplayer and a 140MB update for single player.

The Steam servers are currently too busy to handle your request.
Please try again in a few minutes.

:(

Just go into settings and switch to another server, requires a restart. People have done this trick in the past to download popular games.

LOL, I install, restart Steam, update, and now the IWNet servers can't handle the traffic. Another prestine launch IW!

Thanks, I'll remember that. Now I'll be downloading from Ireland, home to my favorite band, The Cranberries.

So for some odd reason, I had to update twice. Now I cant seem to connect to IWnet. But thats ok, its balanced for that.

Limerick? No problem, looks like everything should be working in a few minutes. They delayed the official launch by 2 hours do to higher then anticipated demand.

only way I'd ever pay for extra content is if I really really really liked the game and the content provided significant value to the game
