Ordering Celeron to flash P5W DH

I was under the impression you could contact ASUS and have them send you a replacement BIOS chip rather than order another processor to flash with. I could be mistaken though, I know some company will do this but it may not be ASUS. I would email or call them before you spend money on a processor.
 
or you could flash your bios chip in any other mainboard you have that uses same type bios chip, even an amd board. when i bought my p5w, i also bought an 805d to screw around with, and to use in case i needed to flash bios for conroe compatibility.

hmm..that's interesting. I didn't even think of that.

But I would definately buy the bios chip from asus instead of buying a celeron for it.
 
Acutally, send me an PM, you can have my new celeron that I also used to flash for cheap. Save you some money and help me get 1/2 mine back. I will ship today.
 
$50 for a Celeron is a little steep. You can get them as low as $35-40 if you shop around.
 
i got a 2.93 ghz celeron for 40 bucks off ebay for that exact purpose. i'm still running on it right now while i wait for my conroe to ship
