Ordering a Wii Component Cable

I got mine. They make everything look purdy. Had to move the 360 to the VGA port on my TV though. Running out of HD inputs.

i succumbed over the weekend and ordered them from nintendo.com. should have them by the 14th. i am weak.

Finally got my cables today!

Jaggies!

50 inch Samsung DLP

but the detail and colors look richer! I think it's worth it.

Just got mine, and quite happy with the output. I haven't tried it on my HDTV yet, just on the SD as the living room is a little more conducive to Wii games than my bed. Anyway, definitely worth it to pick these up.

Ordered this morning in the Nintendo store. At 4:00 PM I received a mail from from the store saying that they already shipped them! Gonna be here by the end of this week!

Just ordered them, here to hoping to have them before the 22nd(my birthday)Though the chances of me getting a Wii on christmas is slim to none.

Damn it. Anyone know where I can get the component cables besides the Nintendo store? They don't take Discover cards

I'm actually a little pissed now because I ordered these paper thin cables for $35 when I could go buy some thick cables half a mile away for $59...no way to cancel my order

oh well :(

I'm banking on it atleast having some shielding, which Nintendo cables appear not to have.

Why can't consoles just sell with standard ports on the back or with break away boxes so you can use your own cables? :(

Last time I had component cables as thin as the Wii's, it was on my Xbox1 and the Green cable had extreme amount of visible noise on my SDTV  but the HDTV set came with a breakaway box that had all the connectors on it, so I replaced it with some better cables.

There is no noise on my TV. Nor with my PS2, which has cables about the same size.

You must have had some really shitty cables. The XBOX compoenents we had worked fine when we had the xbox.

edit: just to be clear, the majority of the cable is very thick. Only on the end does it break off into seperate, thinner cables.

I bought the psyclone component cables from bestbuy. They had a whole bunch at my local bestbuy and also a bunch of react cables. Didn't really trust that brand though. The Psyclone cables appear to be really well made. Very happy with them :) extra long cable too so very flexible on placement (12ft)

I just received my component cable set for my Wii. funny thing is that I really dont notice much of a difference between these cables and the standard cable that comes stock with the console. surely I wouldve thought I would see a noticeable difference between the two cables on my HDTV tv.

oh well. the cables were only like $30 or so from Nintendo so I guess it wasnt too much of a waste of money. I cant imagine the tons of people who got porked on eBay considering these same cables were going for $150 or so during the first week the Wii came out.

talk about pissing money away. :p

^^ What games are you playing? If they are any bit detailed (not talking about wii sports here...) you should see a drastic difference. It might not be very apparant when you first hook them up, but after gaming with them for a while (especially in 480p... you have turned this on, right?) go back to the composite cables for shits and giggles, you'll want to rip your eyes out.

Or you could just plug both cables into the TV and switch inputs/switch the cables on the wii for a direct frame/frame comparison.

Woot got my nintendo component cables in and hooked em up :D
Now I just need a wii :(

Agreed

I could almost see the argument for s-video vs component on a smaller HDTV, but composite video looks like ass compared to component.

WTF kind of TV are you playing on?!

The difference was impressive on component vs composite on the 27" SDTV I played on last weekend. The difference on my 50" HDTV is staggering. I cannot imagine that there wasn't much difference on an HDTV.

Some people just don't know what to look for. Things like sharpened textures, more defined edges aren't immediately obvious to a lot of people. I remember when I tried showing someone the difference between Doom 3 on my PC and Doom 3 on his Xbox. I tried showing off the AA, AF, higher resolution. He just didn't have the eyes to notice.

I think I noticed an amazing difference, I was on the Snowpeak level of Zelda and before the snow was just "snow". After the component cable switch there were many hues of blue and subtle cloud effects I didn't notice before. Sure the aliasing reared it's head, but everything became more vibrant. Note this is on a 50 inch Samsung DLP HDTV.

Thanks for the heads up guys. Ordered mine last night and got my confirmation with Tracking # just now.

Component cables have made a huge difference, especially with colors, on my 27" SDTV while watching TV and DVDs. I'm looking forward to that improvement with the Wii.

FYI, for some reason "Rayman Raving Rabbid's" only does 480i. Wii Sports, Zelda, Excite Truck are all 480P. I even loaded up RE4 and it came up fine.

I bought component cables and sold my Wii before they arrived. I was able to sell 'em on Ebay for a small profit on Sunday night, don't think the buyer knows they're readily available yet.

Looks like those of us who held out for store arrivals are in luck. I just picked some up at Best Buy for $20. They've got the S-Video one's in stock, too.

Are they Nintendo cables or third party?

The ones I got were 3rd party. In fact, they had 2 different brands, BUT one set was $20 and the other set was $50. I went with the cheap ones.

Just picked up a set of the React s-video cables for $19.99 at a local BestBuy. [Enfield CT.]
On a crappy 27" Insignia tv the improvement was fantastic over the oem composit cables!
In Wii sports bowling the lanes looked nice, shiny and reflected the pins noticably.
Grass and dirt looks better too in the other games like Tennis and Baseball.
Before in RE4 I could hardly read the intro subtitles, now it's nice and distinct and sharper.
The graphics in RE4 look pretty dam good.
Definately spend the $20 if you have s-video and no component

Thanks for the heads up as I called the wife on the cell phone and told her to get these at Best Buy as soon as I saw this post! :D

Yup, for those without component inputs Svideo is a great alternative. Huge improvement over Composite. I have it on all my consoles that dont have component

Yeah, I never saw any components (in-store) for the GameCube so s-video has been fine for me. Even on my PS2 I don't notice THAT much difference between the s-video and component. There's a difference, but it's not huge.
One thing about s-video is it seems like they get interference a lot more than components do. I tend to keep all of my systems/stereo receiver/etc, close together and s-video cables don't always like being close to other electronics.

react cables are on bestbuy.com for 24.99 just ordered a set!!!

Outside of the store, I cant recommend React products to anyone. Simply put, they suck. We get so many returns on their stuff its ridiculous.

I've been waiting on the Nintendo ones to get stocked in our store, finally today I saw we had some of the React ones, and Psyclone. I employee pricechecked the Psyclone ones, and they were cheaper then retail on the React :) I didnt even bother price checking the react, they could have been $5 and I would have still gotten the Psyclone.

if thats true then i will just return.. but i have to get them first so i can try them.... no big lose... the 59.99 ones are crazy... just as bad as the monster markup... used to be a tech before the whole "geek squad".....

Yeah, my $20 ones were from Psyclone. I'd never heard of the brand, but they look to be of good quality. If only I had a Wii to use 'em with! I refused to hunt for one until I could get some cables first :)
