first time using dual core cpu :)

Opteron 170 CCBWE 0544XPMW cooled by Corsair Hydrocool 200EX
DFI NF4 UT SLI-DR R.AB0 623-2BTA bios
1x BFG 7800GTX 81.94 beta drivers
4x 80GB Hitachi 7K80 SATAII Raid 0 OS drive
1x 250GB Maxtor Maxline Plus II PATA
Pioneer DVD Burner
Floppy drive
650W Silverstone SLI PSU

WinXP Pro SP2
NF4 6.53WHQL chipset drivers

Using 2x 256MB Gskill PC4400LE TCCD 431 for initial cpu testing

that's a pretty cool running chip there eva. (and what... your 7th opteron? :p)

keep in touch with some oc'ing results

in the second he has it running at 2.6ghz, with only slightly more voltage, looks pretty good. Push it a little farther!

close it's my 6th opteron and 1st dual core cpu of any kind :)

burning in over night @2600mhz at 1.392v :D

hahaha, i can't imagine what your CC bill's gonna look like ;)

also, i saw your thread over at XS.. maxTcase puts the TDP at 35w. i was talking to robberbaron, who has a 165 with the same 35w, and we were trying to figure out how accurate that was. seeing your temps, it's probably not terribly far off

to the op where did you get your opteron?
I'm getting a 170 here next tuesday...

Dividers seem to work miracles with these things. I was able to get mine to 2.8GHz with 1.45V running the RAM 1:1. But I put it on a 9:10 divider, and now I can do that same speed at stock volts. Pretty crazy stuff. :)

Hmm...maybe I'll try running different dividers and see what I can get. I seem to have a much more normal path to OCing success :). 2.5 on stock volts, 2.6 with .5V increase, 2.7 with .1V increase, etc.

bottom line is serial number for warranty so covered up heh

interesting will have to try that

for now dual stress cpu burn in

this seems to be the case for some people, not for me though... i think i might actually do better with a ratio closer to 1:1, but i don't have any really high mhz ram on hand to find out.

man I slaughtered my FX-57's PCmark05 score of 6,149 and with slower 2x256MB ram and video card @ stock 460/1300 still!

Unfortunately still can't publish my score on Pcmark05 ORB. Click on image below for full project result info/details :)

Swapped to 2x 1GB OCZ PC4000EB 3-3-2-8 ram as dual 32M prime takes up more ram than 2x256MB can operate at LOL

arrrrrrrrgh dam thy weaker cpu0 core

what's best way to burn in cpu0 core ??? any success stories with helping along a weaker core to catch up to it's better half ???

best way would be to do something about that pesky IHS from what i've seen

asked a few folks and dual core opteron don't benefit much to fix weaker cores but cpu burn K7 might so might try that

for now it's been ages since i ran 2x 256MB BFG 7800GTX SLI flashed to HeavyH20 rev4 473(525)/1350 bios

stock cpu and stock BFG 7800GTX SLI

I hit 2.8GHz right off the bat with my 170 oem chip.

using a big typhoon with the 120mm being replaced with a 2750rpm panaflo. This thing is huge but fits. It's basically the biggest Heatsink you've ever seen. Installation was a pain but after a few runs to the hardware store to get a mini adjustable wrench, the gf and I were able to help each other and bolt it down. Etc.

Don't want to go into much detail as I want to make a post later.

So far, idle is around 27c with load around 39c thats with the house being about 68 or so. We do not like a warm warm house. I am guessing most people do 68 - 70 in the winter.

I'm using the new DFI expert board, seems like there is room for 3GHz ( my goal ) but trying to get 2.8 dialed in under a wide range of apps. I will mostly likely take 2.8GHz through a round of Molten Core, thats 6+ hours and a handful of other apps that I use before I move on to 2.9 and 3.0GHz.

Molten Core = WoW

wow...3ghz..that would be amanzing. I just may have to upgrade to water on mine and go nuts.

what stepping/batch/date ?

still burning in cpu0 with cpuburn k7 while cpu1 completed 8.75hrs of cpuburn

cpuburnK7_tn.jpg

decided to bump the burn in process to 2700mhz

cpu0 = cpuburn K7
cpu1 = stressprime
cpuburnK7_stressprime_1_tn.jpg

cpu1 was fine even at 2830mhz at 1.504v for 32M at least

Doing so cpu burn in to help cpu0 core along seems to be the weaker one of the two cores at higher clocks :(

changed to dual CpuBurn K7 @2700mhz

APC UPS reported system power draw with 2nd BFG 7800GTX card added = 355 watts

that's a nice core1.. too bad i don't know of any magical fix for the varying clocks the cores get, i'd help you out otherwise :p

keep up the good work eva ;)

well first 13hr dual cpuburn K7 run helped a tad as 2700mhz at 1.504v cpu0 would error smallFFTs in 3min but now run for 42mins

stressprime_42m06s_err_tn.jpg

Looks like it will be a long burn in process

yes cpuburn K7 has made a difference i've only done one session of cpuburn K7 for 13hrs and this is what i can do now on cpu0

before cpu0 at such clock would fail stressprime instantly and now
