    Similar specs to OnePlus 6.
Differences includes an underscreen fingerprint scanner, a small selfie notch, no headphone jack so they can use a bigger battery, and most importantly it will be for sale at T-Mobile stores, first time an US carrier will carry an OnePlus product.

    Launches October 17.

I wonder if enough TMo folks will get this that it could actually make it mainstream.

Lets see how this goes. Do we know what size battery increase? I hope the camera is better as well. Sadly my 5T is going strong.. so I don't think I can justify a new phone.

I'm definitely good with my 2 XL for the foreseeable future, but this would probably be my go to phone if I was in the market this fall. The only thing I really wish it had is stereo speakers, as my last few phones have had them and I really enjoy them while watching videos (which is probably about half of what I do on my phone, hah). I still hate the notch designs, but this is about as good as it gets if you're going to have a notch since it's so small too. It's going to be hilarious to see this come out alongside the Pixel 3 XL with its ridiculously sized notch. I wouldn't mind the notch quite as badly either if they would extend the notification center down past the notch so that it's not eating into your notifications nearly as much.

I will not be surprised if they increase the base price again with the 6T.

I'm good with my 2XL, but the OP 7 might win me over, next March-ish or whenever it's released.

Increase by 400 mAh, or a 3700 mAh battery.

Rumored price is $550 or $21 more than the OnePlus 6.

This will most likely be my first OnePlus device. I've been very bullish with them in the past but since they finally are pushing it through a carrier and it will most likely be part of Google's Android beta program I'm going to upgrade from my V30.

Making any OnePlus hardware "mainstream" may not end up being a good thing, IMO, but we'll see how it goes. At least they chose T-Mobile for it or at least T-Mobile was willing to take a chance and see how things work out. It remains to be seen how the ability to unlock the bootloader and do custom ROMs for it will have a large effect on the sales of it overall.

It just kills me to see them still using the "Never Settle" slogan in light of the fact that this time out they've had to settle to some degrees and now with the carrier association OnePlus is basically turning into just another smartphone manufacturer like all the rest. It's almost as bad as Apple's "Think Different" slogan which was ironic because all their machines and software look exactly the same. ;)

As for the actual 6T, nothing about it stands out to me (except that damned notch I suppose), but I'm sure it'll be a fine piece of hardware for those that decide to give it a shot.

I just saw a news item a few moments ago that said the 6T will not have wireless charging nor will it have any IP certificationrating at all which is unfortunate I suppose but when you've got to cut corners so drastically to make certain price points that means some stuff just has to be left out. OnePlus says the 6T is "the most water-resistant phone the company has ever made" but that lack of getting that certification will certainly make that particular corner they cut out relevant to a great many people.

So essentially the normally yearly increase we've been seeing from them.

Hopefully they don't ever increase prices too much if they want to continue being considered the flagship killer on a budget. With phones like the Pocophone F1 packing flagship specs at $300 it'll be stiff competition...especially if its ever officially sold in the US.

From people reporting on the Oppo's (AKA the sister model of the 6T) in-screen fingerprint reader, it's fucking AWFUL. It's slow, has a 50% success rate, and just feels bad. I'm curious to see how far along software updates can fix it.

Oof, hope it's not just lifted wholesale from the Oppo phone. I suspect this is why Apple is going all-in on face recognition instead of trying a fingerprint reader under the glass -- it's just not as fast or reliable with current tech.

I haven't heard anyone talking about the R17 Pro at all, at least on the English sites I visit. Care to share the sources of complaints of this in screen fingerprint reader problem?

It's a sexy beast. I think this will be my first oneplus phone. Has anyone here had any experience with them? I've been using an Essential Phone and other than the camera i'm happy with it. Stock android is great, feels like a different phone than what i'm used to. (coming from Samsung note 8.)

I'll try to find it. It was one of the editors of a tech site who was demoing the phone, posting on Twitter. I most likely saw it through Reddit, but I'll be damned if I can find it right now. The NyQuil isn't helping me look, either.

Just wait for the 2019 Pixel 4 XL. It will have Sony's new 48MP camera sensor.

In fact, put $15 dollars a week away or $60 a month and you'll have the cash on hand to just pre-order one day zero.

Are bigger MP’s even necessary? I’d rather have better sensors and low light capabilities. :)

Get a kick out of people complaining about the lack of IP certification. You can build your device to handle more that a certain requirement of a certification and still not be certified or rated for a particular spec.

Watched this video today from a very prominent tech reviewer. He got a chance to tour OP's HQ and see the 6T.

I have no idea which one of those would be the 6T but for me I felt that C seemed to produce the best-looking images with what I would consider to be more accurate colors. Of course doing photo comparisons with a video that many people are going to be watching on a wide variety of devices and screen to and then ask him which one they think is the best looking one or choose which one is from what type of camera seems like a practical impossibility to me.

Anyway, if it's got a good camera in the 6T great.

So does T-Mobile have this promotion ? I have an old OnePlus One, if I trade that in to T-Mobile, I'll get the full $300 discount ? If so, I'm all over that deal. But it probably won't allow me to buy the phone for $249 outright then, maybe just super cheap monthly payments for 24 months ?

Time to look for my old OnePlus One as well. If you can buy it for 50% off and then flip it I'm in.

No use for the 6T but should be able to sell it for $500 but not sure if it's worth the effort if you have to wait 2 months and then pay it off.

Looks like you will receive the trade-in as promo credits regardless of whether you pay off the device or not. Nice deal if you use T-mobile but jot so much if you don't.

This phone is making me itch to replace my Essential Phone with it. But I think I’m just going to convert to dual SIM on my XS Max instead. The 6T is shaping up to be one of the best phones of the year, especially at the suggested price.

If I was in the market for an Android phone this would be the one I’d get even over the Pixel 3/3 XL.

Like all other oneplus devices the OP6t mostly like to have..

    Poor vibrator
    Crappy speaker
    Average camera
    Fast updates but somewhat buggy

Not a deal breaker for me except for that shitty vibrator. Been pretty happy with my OP6, though.. Also not a fan of that on screen fp sensor. Gestures and face id is the future, imo.

I am still happy with my 5T. Is mostly just works. It's fast and you get good security updates. Not google fast but good enough for me. I am happy to see TMobile carry it. We need other carriers like one plus to force the big manufacturers to help slow down phone prices. I look forward to what one plus does next year.

I think this should do well. The price is still well below other launch-priced flagships, the phone is the best looking notch and has snazzy technology.

I hope they do so well that Google re-examines their shitty Pixel strategy.

To be completely fair, people do still regularly line up for iPhones. On launch day there is usually a very lengthy line out of every Apple store with people waiting to either purchase or pickup the phone they ordered online.

Hmmm...Wonder what kind of line there would be if you could buy the iPhone 3 days before release day only at the Apple flagship store in New York?

It's one store in NYC so I don't get the #HYPE.

OnePlus is loving it and having availability at T-mobile will introduce OnePlus to a bunch of customers who may otherwise have never heard of OnePlus but I doubt it will make a meaningful dent in Apple or Samsung.

OnePlus got their one day of press with the YouTube crowd and now attention has moved back to Apple with the products they announced today.

Apple doesn't give a shit about OnePlus, they sell more iPhones in a single day than OnePlus has sold in 2 years give or take a few. :)

Not even a drop in the proverbial bucket, so to speak.

I don't have any evidence of this. But I'm guessing OnePlus hired some folks to wait in line (or offered some rebates). Cause that sounds like something OnePlus would do...

Damnit. Why isn't the Essential Phone a $300 trade in eligible device when a Nexus 6 is? Anyone have an older OnePlus One that they are willing to part with? Haha

I've seen posts in various forums where people are scrambling to buy cheap used phones just to get the OnePlus 6T with that trade in. I have an LG V20 and I wouldn't even consider it, the 6T offers nothing of any value to me in comparison, oddly enough.
