OnePlus 5

Now this is for the 3T and it's beta but still how the hell do you let this happen?

#neversettle

Just fuck up after fuck up from OnePlus.

The hits never end. People just continue to turn a blind eye to what they do because they just look at the price as the end all.

It is a great phone from a price to performance perspective and has been so since the One, but as their prices continue to rise with each release they are getting less and less of a bargain with the stuff they get caught doing or the corners they cut with their phones to keep the price down.

Maybe people just accept that if you use an Android phone, your data will be collected in one way or another. If you don't like it get an iPhone. Apple never collects user data... right?

It's really disappointing that Microsoft abandoned mobile support, because we all know they don't collect data.

I think you missed the point about what was going on. This wasn't data collection. This was unauthorized clipboard data being sent elsewhere. It wasn't even being sent to OnePlus. This is BAD.

You honestly think this isn't being done by others? Maybe I'm just overly cynical, But I never assume ANYTHING I do on my phone is private.

Clipboard data? No. I don't think that's typical at all and it isn't something that would remain hidden as things like passwords are typically put into the clipboard by users with password managers like LastPass. When was the last time you heard of a phone transmitting clipboard data? I can't think of one until today. A quick Google search doesn't bring up anything either.

So I think this is just another huge fuck up on OnePlus's part and not actual planned data collection like OnePlus was caught doing a few months ago.

So, because you've never heard of it you assume it hasn't happened. Again, we just see things differently.

Do you use your phone for any mobile banking, online purchases, etc.?
I stopped doing any online banking or purchasing from my phone a couple years ago. Got burned when an iPhone was stolen back in 2015. A couple unauthorized Amazon purchases totaled about $800. :(

Nice little summary of the short history of OnePlus. He hits the high points,

As a previously unabashed supporter and purchaser of OnePlus phones (3T and 5) who was looking forward to buying the 6, I find little to disagree with in this piece. That makes me sad Commander. :(

At least I used PayPal for my purchases from OP, so am spared this credit card breach problem.

I'm very close to pulling the trigger on a Mate 10.

I'm using an iPhone X currently (couldn't deal with the Pixel 2 XL screen issues) but have owned every OnePlus phone since I got the One as an early supporter. I even bought the OnePlus X. The last OnePlus phone I bought was the 5 and my son is using it now.

I will look at the 6, but won't be buying direct from OnePlus anymore as you can pick one up on Swappa after seeing what, if anything, may actually be improved rather than basing your purchase on what OnePlus stirs up with the #HYPE.

Too many promises made that end up being double-speak from Carl.

Have had a 5T for a few weeks now with no true complaints except for bluetooth. For some reason the bluetooth connection to my car is flaky and choppy, while it seems to work fine with my Jawbone Mini Jambox.

I am waiting on the new Nokia 6 2018 version. I am starting to crave Stock Andriod after seeing how well Linage 14.1 OS runs on my old LG g3 compared to my current S7 Edge. Why can't we get a phone with the following

OLED 18:9 1080P
Midrange SoC
3-4GB Ram
32GB Storage + MicroSD
Large Battery 3500-4000
Top tier Camera
NFC
Wireless charging

Thats all I want in a phone for 300-400 unlocked :)

Well I gave in.. and got a 5T 64GB with the student discount. I am done with all Android phones unless they are stock or near stock. Once you go stock you don't go back. If need be I will run Linage OS if OnePlus continues there shady mishaps. but for 500$ its hard to beat price and performance. I used Paypal if anyone is curious due to there credit card breach. My wife had the Original OG 1 and I am excited to use the phone.

My OP3 has been great with some minor software issues. A very well build phone. However, I haven't been impressed with anything past the 3. We'll see what's down the road.
