All I know is that the new Huawei Nexus will probably the best phone of 2015, and I can't wait to get my hands on it. It'll be mine.

Rumors are saying that Huawei's AMOLED screen is from Samsung. I wonder how they worked out that Samsung-we-put-our-logo-on-our-display thing that forced HTC to look elsewhere.
 
Higher end phones, like the Huawei Nexus is hoped to be, equipped with AMOLED screens, will make great use of the Dark Theme option
being shown in the Android M Developer Preview. The current build also fixes the Silence, Volume, and Priority Notification modes that Lolipop has been criticized for mishandling.

Reports/early reviews are saying the Two charges up in 3 hrs. Seems like it might have quick charge without referring to it, or some other form of quick charge, or some halfbred USB 3.1 Type-C solution?!?

They must be wrong. Or their comments are being mis-interpreted as in "charges in 3 hours with the device fully powered off"...as opposed to QuickCharge 2.0 devices that charge in 90 minutes powered off.

1+2 does not have USB3.1 in any shape or form. It doesn't have USB3.0 in any shape or form either. Nor does it have QuickCharge2.0. Type-C is nothing more than a physical interconnect standard, electronically you can have USB 1 over Type-C theoretically. 1+2 has USB2.0 Type-C.

13:36 length review of the OnePlus Two by an Indian site. Very well done and at least it goes into some detail compared to the hands on couple of minute reviews floating around now.

Not much that would make me buy the Two at this point. Waiting to see what the Huawei Nexus will bring to the table or the iPhone 6s Plus.
 
Early reviews by Indian owners are not sounding all that promising.

After using the OnePlus 2 for nearly two weeks, I have my fingers crossed that flagship smartphones in 2016 manage to do better. It certainly has its highs, especially when it comes to the design and camera performance. At Rs 24,999, the OnePlus 2 offers 64GB of internal storage and 4GB of RAM, so it is certainly value for money if you want the latest and greatest specifications.

What lets it down is the abysmal overall performance. The nightmare that is the battery, the moody fingerprint sensor and the half-baked Oxygen OS, makes me question co-founder Carl Pei’s statements that OnePlus cares about the overall user experience and not just about the hardware specifications. At the end of the day, I find the OnePlus 2 to be a work in progress smartphone that needs a lot of work in power management and overall software features. In its current avatar, it could possibly be considered a good upgrade of the OnePlus One. It could also be a flagship killer but purely on the basis of the price, but certainly not on the basis of my experience.

Here's one major issue I have with this review... he keeps bashing no NFC... but NEVER mentions the fact that you can buy NFC-enabled SIM cards from carriers. Why not? Why didn't they try one out to see if it would work? They've been available since 2013...

For example, here in Canada? I can go to Telus and buy an NFC-enabled SIM card for... $10 CAD. The same price as a non-NFC SIM card. :p

So every review that whines about lack of NFC... why not a single mention of this? I bet using an NFC-enabled SIM card would make the OnePlus 2 capable of using Android Pay... unless the device itself needs to be certified from Google or some crap, but they haven't mentioned anything about that. From what I gather? Any Android device with NFC can use Android Pay.

Then again... there's not even Google Wallet in Canada... same goes for Android Pay. Meh, tbh? If my OnePlus One gets stolen and they hack it somehow and are able to use Android Pay on my device without my permission? That would suck. A lot. I think I'd rather just keep my payments to pin and chip-enabled credit/debit cards...

No fingerprint reader does kinda suck though, I could easily see myself using that a lot more than NFC and Android Pay especially since they barely started rolling it out in the states and it's not in Canada like Google Wallet never came to Canada... so no fingerprint reader? I did not realize the Moto X Style/Pure doesn't have one... that really does suck. :(

Maybe Huawei's Nexus phone might have both. I wonder what SoC it'll have too... Their Hisilicon Kyrin is decent for regular tasks but lacks in 3D gaming though if you look back at other Huawei devices... so I dunno what will happen there.

The upgrades on the camera of the OnePlus 2 are indeed quite impressive. It'll be interesting to see how the Moto X stacks up with it. it's nice to see Motorola listening to the community and revamping their devices in the camera department and succeeding by the looks of it... unlike HTC. :p

Err... they lowered the price of the OnePlus One by $50 back in June... so instead of waiting for the OnePlus 2? They started the discounted price earlier with limited quantities to ensure they still made profits and when people started going crazy over that price? They decided to just keep the $50 discount permanently.

With no fingerprint reader. Pretty sure you'd get more use out of a fingerprint reader than NFC. Even if Android Pay was in Canada? I bet I'd unlock my phone more times per day than I would pay for things. :p

Eh, 5.7" is starting to get on the side of ridiculous yeah... but it's not a failed form-factor... otherwise I'm sure Samsung would have bailed on 5.7" Note lineup long ago... same goes for the new Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+.

I think the Nexus 6 mainly failed due to the camera being balls for such a high price and wasn't competitive enough against the Galaxy Note 4 which is a superior device. It just felt like Motorola should have done a little more with it. By the sounds of it with their latest devices? They definitely are... but dayum, their flagship not having fingerprint reader? Hmm...

Also, that 3GB of LPDDR3? Yeah, it might not have as good of battery life as LPDDR4 due to lower voltage in the latter, but 3GB of memory is still lots. It just won't multi-task between games and other memory-sucking apps quite as well is all. It's not like the Galaxy S6 seems crippled by only 3GB of RAM as no one's ever complained about its ability to multi-task.

The Moto X Style/Pure is indeed a great device... that apparently won't ever come to my part of the world. People buying phones from outside of Canada no matter the brand have mentioned customs brokerage fees anywhere from $20 to $80 and that's on top of any shipping fees. That's balls man. Unless Motorola has some kind of contract to carriers that they will exclusively sell their devices, why can't I order from Moto Maker and ship to Canada?

Out of curiosity I decided to check what Alcatel does with the Onetouch Idol 3.



So they partnered with Globalshopex and even offer the option to prepay Duties, Taxes & Others (brokerage fees) which surprisingly is only $14. Then again, it could be related to the cost of the device. Before OnePlus setup a deal like that? You could still order from them but like I stated earlier, brokerage fees where anywhere between $20 to $80 depending on where in Canada you were from. Eventually? OnePlus shut down shipping to Canada for I think it was two months as they sorted this out. Now? The brokerage fees are handled on their side and is rolled into the price of the device which makes sense on why the OnePlus One is more expensive in Canada than the states where they don't have any brokerage fees like that.


So if OnePlus and Alcatel do pre-pay on duties fees which are lower than not pre-paying... why can't Motorola and offer the same Moto Maker to Canadians?

Sorry if that question comes off as a "fanboy" question to you Blown 89... but seriously, wtf Motorola.

I buy unlocked devices these days as my job provides me with a micro SIM and a plan since I'm required to be on call 24/7. I like to provide my own device as I love Android and didn't care for the iPhone 4 that was given to me (it was stuck on the dreadful iOS 7... no saved SHSH blobs of course so I couldn't even revert to iOS 6 if I wanted to) so I opted to buy my own device. Same will probably be true when I eventually buy my next device. Of course, not everyone's situation is like mine as the majority of Canadians buy two year carrier plans... but even for those people? That means no Moto X Style since it's not coming to Canada.

Albeit, Canada is a lot smaller market than Europe... so it's even worse that Samsung won't bring their Note 5 to Europe, at least for this year as rumor goes... but maybe they were losing money on the Note 4 over there? Maybe they could at least offer a purchase directly from them to Europeans at least? An option over the dreaded buy from a third party and pay brokerage fees up the yang?

Cost wize that doesnt look like a good deal... Though it could be used to go from a carrier locked device to an unlocked device when switching carriers.

Edit: and when I saw this thread bumped I thought it was going to be about the recently fcc filed mini oneplus device. I am looking forward to seeing what its all about as my bubble was burst with the Nexus 5x being entirely too big for what it is. I am hoping that the OnePlus mini device is closer to that of an original nexus 5 size wise.

If the leak here is right it will be slightly taller (3mm) then the original Nexus 5, about the same width and much thinner (~1.5mm) so it may be the phone I have been waiting for. Especially if they make a more buff version with extra ram like they did with the oneplus 2 (I would gladly pay an extra 50 bucks for a 3gb/64gb varient)

Why am I not surprised, but this is pretty crappy from OnePlus. Android 6.0 marshmallow was released in October, and OPO is shooting for most likely a February release for officially updating their phones to 6.0, which would be 4 to 5 months after Google released source. This is far worse then LG, HTC, and Samsung, which will have updated their current flagships from Dec to Jan.

I know you can flash CM13 ROM's, which I did on my backup OnePlus One phone, and it runs great, but that's not the point. OPO should officially support their phones better. I always looked at the OnePlus One as sort of Nexus 5.5 last year, and it runs AOSP type OS, and I just assumed it would be updated fairly close to a Nexus, maybe a month after Nexus devices get updated, and no way longer than Samsung takes to roll out updates.

I'm done with this company, F the OnePlus Three now.

Don't know why you're surprised. CyanogenOS had issues being updated timely. OxygenOS is having issues as well. Common denominator? OnePlus.

Oxygen is nothing but AOSP with addons from the PA team who joined OP after the messy Cyanogen-OnePlus divorce. Some of them have left OP already over the way OP runs things as well. I see a pattern. ;)

Is a shame really, I mean for $370 or whatever the 64GB phone costs, you really are getting a pretty decent phone for half price of normal flagships. Yeah the screen isn't great, and the camera could be better, but for the price it's good.

But fucking OPO just kills this whole thing, with the stupid " Invite " system, and then running Cyanogen team out, and now the PA / Oxygen team not happy, and could be bailing next year. WTF OnePlus, you guys suck donkey dick at management.
