I use my machine primarily for multimedia work; illustration, graphic design, web development, and some mellow video / motion. I do also enjoy gaming. I don't get to play as much as I like but it does factor into the machines I build.

I have recently taken over managerial position of a building and emerging community venue and have an opportunity to do some shuffling of equipment while I set up an office. I would greatly appreciate some feedback, as my build represents the last time I had an understanding of current technology:

ABIT IP35 Pro
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
OCZ 4GB DDR2
BFG 8800GTX
Corsair 620W
WD 1TB / 7200RPM / 32MB
Windows 7
2(3) 22" Benq

I have an HIS 5850 that I was using for a bit to take advantage of three monitors, but it was getting a bit stressed so I shelved it for the time being - I am hoping to match the build with this card while keeping an open mind for the future.

Now that I've written it out I'm realizing all I have to start with is a case, gpu, and maybe psu? I would appreciate suggestions on how to build around an HIS 5850 with no real concern with budget other than keeping to an efficient price / performance ratio.

The current machine is going to the office, and I'm building a new work / play setup for myself.

Thank you for your time

Please answer the stickied "ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS FIRST!" so that we can help you better.

Oh and you can reuse that WD 1TB Black drive and possibly that RAM if you stick with an AMD setup.

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Multimedia work; illustration, graphic design, web development, and some mellow video / motion, gaming
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
No strict budget, but mindful of price / performance ratio
3) Where do you live?
Canada
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
Mobo, CPU, RAM, perhaps PSU and HD
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
HIS 5850 and maybe the Corsair 650 if its big enough
6) Will you be overclocking?
I dont think so, not seriously
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
3 x 22"
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
As soon as possible
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc.
Nothing too specific, just a solid board - I was thinking maybe this Gigabyte i7
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? 32bit or 64bit?
Windows 7 64bit

Yeah I will probably use the WD1TB, but I would like to run 8GB RAM - perhaps RipJaw?

Canada? Then I recommend checking out this Canadian build that one of your countrymen did:

Just add in my recommendations/advice in that thread, forget the fan controller, case fans, USB drive, wireless NIC, and the other peripherals and it's fairly solid build for the money.

Oh and then add the 8GB G.Skill set you linked to for 8GB of RAM.
