fucking scalpers. do not buy from scalpers, do not fall for the fomo.
also, they dont even have them in hand yet...

nothing is wrong with scalpers...no one is forcing people to buy anything...something is worth only as much as someone is willing to pay for it...it's supply/demand

The problem isn't that people are willing to pay for it (well, that's not the entire problem). The problem is creating artificial scarcity. It was several years before I was able to get a PlayStation 5 because of being sold out at every legitimate store, but there was always an ample supply of them on eBay and whatnot for absurd prices.

then blame it on Sony for creating a market where scalpers exist...or the people buying it...if no one bought anything with scalper pricing then the problem would go away

did you take that personally? yeah there fucking is. fuck all scalpers, for everything, fuckers.

sony isnt the one doing this shit. thats my fucking point. dont buy from scalpers.
why the fuck are you defending this bullshit?

Sony has an easy way to mitigate the scalpers, but they chose not to do it.

All these companies keep detailed statistics on their users. All they had to do was just make sure the account is over a certain age, has spent a specific amount of money on the PS Store, and has put in a minimum amount of playtime.

Sure, it wouldn't completely stop scalpers, but it would significantly reduce them.

I mean special edition stuff whole deal are about being rare, remove that element and what is left ? Scalper and effort to get it, is it not the whole point, like special edition shoes ? you end up with a simple PS5 pro at the end.,..

Sony has that PSN ID queue system in place, would not surprise me if they prioritize in the algo people that bought items with said ID in the past.

People are trying to sell the 30th bundle for $10,000.
Trying. I can see the 30th bundle being scalable but the standard Pro nah. From my experience most special edition console don't really go for much more then the standard console after some time.

I think this generation will be like PS3 lifecycle - the back half of the console's life is going to have the killer apps.
Frankly I think the PS5 has been held back by Sony insisting on still releasing new games on the PS4 too long into this generation. I get that it was hard to get a console within the first few months, but the PS5 is still Sony's fastest selling console. Sony stopped releasing games on the PS3 less than a year into the PS4's life. They have only started to roll back on simultaneous PS4 releases three years into the PS5's life cycle.

It is hard to let go the 117 million PS4s out there. While the PS5 might be their fastest selling console i think it has slowed down this past year and doubt it will break 100 million in it's life.

It took 8 years for the PS4 to break 100 million. We're only just approaching 4 years for the PS5. At this point in the PS4's life cycle it had sold around 54 million units. The PS5 is at 62 million.

In future:

  1. Only PS6, PS7, PS8. No pros
  2. Shorter release cycles — 6 years
  3. Out of the gate, games optimized for the new box

anyone who already has a PS5 getting the PS5 Pro?
Like I said before, I'll bite the first time I see a disc drive bundle or something for $700 or less. I'm sure we'll see one within a year of its launch.

I would have definitely jumped on the $1000 30th anniversary bundle, but fighting bots and scalpers aren't for me.

I'm going to check out a local store, Best Buy, or GameStop when the Pro releases. If they have it, I'll buy, otherwise I'll wait. The only thing I can think of that I'd *really* want to play on PlayStation is Death Stranding 2, which I assume will be on PS5 before PC. I do still need to finish the Astro Bot game, kinda surprised I've not seen any Pro update for that.

I was getting a drive at walmart today, they said they had 10 in the back. Now this is 10 minutes from the HO so that mileage may vary.

Got mine set up and running. Did the network transfer between my OG PS5 and the new Pro - easy enough, but it did take a few hours to transfer everything over (there was a decent amount of games to transfer).

I like the new design, I never seen a Slim in person, so I was quite impressed by how much size is shaved off compared to my OG PS5. Panel removal is much easier now, I remember the old one requiring the correct angle to remove it. Installing my m.2 SSD was easy enough, but I don't think I'll bother with a disc drive. Rarely used it on my OG PS5, and I really like the svelte look of Pro in its digital orientation.

No idea how these clear plastic feet are supposed to slot in to rest it horizontally and don't really have the patience to figure it out. Just going to keep it vertical and wait for my vertical stand to arrive to give it extra support.

Just played an hour or two of FF VII Rebirth and the 'Versatility' graphics option looks great. It reminds me of Forbidden West's 40fps mode in terms of image quality and framerate. Oh, and the unit is just as quiet as my old PS5.

All in all pretty happy with the unit so far. Wasn't terribly impressed by its price at first, but I've spent a lot more on PC gaming in the past.

The plastic feet instructions are in the quick start manual. I really like the new horizontal 'stand', the original stand was annoying for horizontal use; it would grab into place, but would fall out of place if you needed to move the PS5 to get behind it. Since I was trading in my original PS5, I moved all my games to the M.2 SSD and did a system backup (just saves and media) to a USB key. The Pro recognized the games on the M.2 that I moved to the Pro and the restore process from USB was fast enough.

I traded in my original PS5 at GameStop for $250 and there was an additional $25 trade-in credit added to the deal. The salesperson at GS told me I couldn't buy a Pro yesterday because they were limiting them to GS Pro members, so I took my trade-in credit on a card and left, then I bought the PS5 Pro on the website without GS Pro and went back to the store today to pick it up.

It was supposed to be delivered yesterday, but I wasn't able to sign, so picked it up today from the local UPS access site. The shipping box itself looked like someone had opened it prior, but the PS5 Pro Box looked fine, outside of the stand knobs just floating around in the box.

The only main issue I have is that the HDMI connection feels weak, like the slightest nudge can knock out the cable. But it's up and running. Right now, it's just doing a data transfer. 400 GB but says it will take 22 hours to transfer. I can download the games faster from the PSN store.

So weren't the Pro-enhanced games supposed to have basically just one combined "Pro" option for graphics!? Even my boss said he looked forward to the games just running in Pro mode instead of choosing between performance and fidelity. I can't remember all off the top of my head, but I checked Horizon Forbidden West, Demon's Souls, GoW Ragnarok, and Ratchet and Clank, and at least HFW and one other game had multiple "Pro" graphics options.

Do you know if the transfer needs both consoles? I want to get a pro but want to sell my OG PS5 to offset the cost and I’d rather sell it before I buy the pro
